We have discussed some of these players who should have adjusted deals, but one that I havent seen much (and I am sure there are others) is Tramon Williams. I got curious and saw he is due 13 million over the next 2 seasons. Yikes. His production has dropped and what once was a great deal for us is now one that isnt in the teams favor.

Thoughts?

Any other players you want to see renegotiate? Please provide contract numbers if you list a player.

I want this, that, and the other guy gone. They aren't worth it. Him & him are too expensive to cut this year so they better play outa their **** next year when they get cheaper. The three stooges over there get one more year to prove they are NFL material before they talk about an extension next year. A lot of minimum wage type would outperform these schmucks.

That's hard to decipher. But a lot of info.

Hawk should owe us money. So should Tramon. And Finley.
The Hawk contract has us in a pickle though..... he's guaranteed the big amount, so you might as well keep him. Plus all the other ILB's get or got hurt. He keeps going.... playing okay with no big plays made.

Jeremy Ross & Jarrett Boykin can become big bargains next year.

I think that Tramon will play through his contract in 2013 and then would either get renegotiated or cut, if his play continues to decline

Tramon is not as bad as some people here are acting like.
He's a fine cover guy......soft, but can cover better than most.

I'm kind of still on the fence with Tramon. I have moments when I love the guy and I have moments when I don't. I'm not sure if things are so bad with him that his contract needs to be negotiated though.

I have seen some respected reporters suggest keeping him off the field during plays where it's not an obvious pass.

We have 2 all pros WRs in the conference that require elite coverage.

We all know that Tramon has the goods to be a very good cornerback. His contract reflects his play in 2010. Then he battled an injury in 2011. In 2012 he played pretty good 80% of the time, but the other 20% played terrible. I'm not advocating that we throw him off the side of the boat, but another year of play should help guide whether he continues to get more leash or harsh renegotiation.

Just the obvious Hawk and Woodson, maybe Tramon if he doesn't make starter next year. Matthews and Rodgers should probably be renegotiated as well.

He's overpaid then.... so is AJ Hawk, and Woodson's $ refleces his play in 2009... Capers reflects his one good season of 2010.... lotta overpaid guys on this team.
No wonder why, unlike the Ravens (Lewis, Reed, Ngata, Rice, Flacco, Boldin....) we have to let a stud go like Jennings?

There's literally not a single person that wasn't happy with the contract when it was signed. Hard to criticize TT for the Tramon deal. It's easy to say he's overpaid in retrospect.

I think on Woodson, his extension in 2010 was somewhat of a reward for his play for us over the years. I think we were pretty well aware when we signed him to a 5 year extension in 2010, that he wasn't going to continue to be worth 8 figures for that long. They'll release or restructure him this year.

I won't disagree on Hawk. Bad contract which is made worse by the fact that it's structured in a way that we really can't get out from under it. Not TT's best contract. He's a fantastic GM, but Hawk, Chillar, and Poppinga were all some pretty puzzling moves. Hard to find a GM without a few of those, though.

Tramons situation changed. Didn't see anyone criticize Ted for it. At the time it was a good deal and now it's not. Players hold out for stuff like this if it falls in favor of them. Teams threaten to cut players. It's just business.

Tramon is capable of locking down elite guys like Brandon Marshall and Calvin (that 1st game in 2011) - plus, I'm sure he's still tip toeing his way back from that Shoulder Nerve Pinch thing... another full off season and he should be back to full strength - so if he plays like a sissy again - then yeah, cut 'em or whatever.

Wait, are you saying that the Ravens have more studs than the Packers? That's a tall one my good friend. Rodgers, Jennings, Nelson, Cobb, Finley, Pickett, Matthews, Woodson...and we could name more. This isn't the Yankees, we can't pay top dollar to the entire roster.

More to your point though, every team has overpaid and underpaid players. It's the nature of contract negotiations and free agency. TT gets skewered on these boards for being so tight, and now skewered for not being tight enough. He's lucky that he doesn't read these boards! There are quite a few players that are underpaid on the Packers roster. I would say that a quick list includes Cobb, Nelson, Bulaga, Matthews, Bishop, and Shields. I don't think that you'll find many other rosters with more A- and B-list players than Green Bay, it's a product of staying out of the free agent market in order to compensate our core players that we develop.

Hindsight only looks good on internet forums.

Bulaga is certainly not underpaid.
James Jones is underpaid too.....

Its funny you list Shields as underpaid, but 1/4th thru this season, he was benched and a lot of fans wrote him off.

I believe Matthews is one of the most underpaid, if not THE most, player in the NFL.

It just sucks that there's no way out of the Hawk contract.

Trivial. Matthews is playing on his rookie contract, Tramon is on his second one.

The new CBA really helps draft-and-develop teams like the Packers. You give rookies modest contracts and hope the out perform them. The good players you re-sign, the meh players you let go. With the salary cap the way it is, you pretty much have to build your roster this way. Lots of cheap rookies as role players with a few super stars chewing up most of your cap.
