Should the number 18 have stayed retired for the Broncos?

    Just keep in mind;

    The #16 was retired in K.C. back in 1992 when Montana was going there.

    Len Dawson told Joe Cool that he would not mind if he wore his number, and to take it out of retirement.

    Joe Cool denied, and decided to wear #19, allowing the #16 to always remain with the Niners, and the #16 with K.C. to stay with Dawson.

    Joe leaving his #16 behind with the Niners was really classy, I think. In my own opinion, I think that was him closing the door on his success in the past.

    I'm not saying Manning is a bad guy, but I don't think it would have hurt him to keep the #18 with the Colts. I mean he will ALWAYS be remembered as #18, just as Joe Cool is remembered as #16 and Favre is remembered as #4. But whatever works I guess. I'm sure his jersey still would have sold regardless what the number was.

    What's the use of having retired numbers if any yahoo can wear it? Surely Denver could not have run out of numbers already. C'mon they've got 101 to choose from.

    Better that the number come out of retirement than the old geezer who had it to practice catches from Peyton.

    Part of me thinks it should be and another part is saying, "It's just a number."
