Here's my initial gut feeling on this week's picks -----

  • Buffalo beats New Orleans

    Jacksonville over Denver

    Tampa Bay stomps Detroit

    Cincinnati beats Houston

    Indianapolis over Tennessee

New England on top of San Diego

    Washington beats Seattle
(iffy pick, I know, but Holmgren always has a hard time on the road)

NY Giants beat St. Louis (Manning on the rise)

Baltimore gets an easy one with the Jets (Pennington is out for the year)

Oakland gets past Dallas (Raidahs at home - big time)

Atlanta over Minnesota (Daunte is no Ron Mexico)

    San Fran wins over Arizona

Carolina beats Green Bay (Sorry guys - gotta call 'em like I see 'em)

Monday night points will be 27 - at least that's what I think the total score will be...
Packers Defense is stepping up and while Favre is famous for Monday Night Football greatness - it didn't happen last year with one of thee biggest blowouts the Packers have ever suffered on a MNF game, at home no less.... - thanks, Shermy... no really! So this time around, I see us playing tough on D, but the O-line is porous and you don't really think Mike Wahle has any allegiance to the Packers in any way... well, do ya? He's very well versed with Sherman's HABITS... notice I say "habits"... Well, there ya go!

I may re-think the Redskins and Seahawks games - but otherwise, my gut instinct feels pretty good - just gotta go read the Injury reports... and I am outta here.... 8)

Almost to the end of Round 1 (early games) for today's contests...

I'm off on the Buffalo, San Diego and Denver games, so far....
Plus Cincy is tied with Houston as we speak.. in 4th quarter on almost all games..

The Pats/Chargers game has to be because of injuries.... otherwise....!
Can't tell how much time is left at this point - just watching the NFL.com screen.
But, the Bills and the Jags are only 1 TD away from tying it up...

How are the rest of you "Experts" holdin' up?

Well, it panned out - lost those three....
Now, I'm lookin' at Philly about to lose theirs.. so that would make four...

Otherwise, not too bad this week... so far, that is...
Currently in the 2nd quarter for Round 2 (late games).

Tampa beat Detroit, but I thought the Lions got robbed near the end of the game when it looked like they scored the winning TD, but the review booth overturned it. I had it on Tivo and stopped it frame by frame, and it looked to me like his knee was inbounds when the Detroit receiver caught the ball in the endzone. Not that I mind a Lions loss though.

Tampa is 4-0, but they could be 2-2 in my opinion because they lucked out with some calls last week too.

Philly came back to make the 2nd round picks all pan out....

Now, it looks like the Niners can't even beat the Cards.. still lookin at only 4 wrong!

(Unless the Packers actually pull it out on MNF, that is....! I picked the Panthers)

It comes down to when possession is ruled.
If the player is said to have possession as soon as the ball touches his hands, then it should have been a touchdown.
Pollard did not grip the ball with his hands, catching it away from his body, however. Instead, he allowed the ball to hit his hands and with a smooth motion cradled it into his body. Before he brings the ball in securely against his body, his leg is out-of-bounds.
The rules for control of a reception were revised (last year, iirc) stipulating continuous control of the ball (even requiring control after the ball has been taken out of bounds, if I'm not mistaken).
IMO, Pollard cannot be fairly said to have had possession of the ball prior to going out of bounds.

If not for instant replay, I'm a very unhappy fan today.
:)

Not that I mind a Lions loss though.

That's the spirit!
:)

That's the NFL for you. The Bucs could have been 10-6 last year minus a few unlucky calls and with some competent placekicking.
One thing's for sure: The Bucs will have to play better in order to keep winning. The defense is doing the job so far, but the offense needs to take better advantage of opportunities and turn the ball over less frequently (in Griese's defense, he may have suffered a concussion on a first-half scramble). The Bucs absolutely have to improve in order to make noise in the playoffs, assuming that we end up getting that far.

Ditto - I don't mind having FIVE WRONG, as long as the Pack come thru on MNF.

My wrong ones were (recap):

  • Buffalo ( say what...? )
New England ( no comment )
Kansas City ( shoulda known.... )
Niners ( DOH... go figure! )

Two weeks - high WIN count.... back to regular form!

What's everyone else's status... eh?

Denver was scored so much the previous game, it made no sense that they couldn't put up the points again.
