Ben is a good quarterback...not a great one.

Matty Ice on the other hand, is also a good quarterback, but I don't see him leading the league in passing yards or touchdowns. Without Turner or that powerful Running game, you see Atlanta melt down like they did in the playoffs. They are not a team that can depend on passing the ball 30-50 times a game.

Leading teams on passing yards or touchdowns doesn't mean one's elite, and it's true the other way around.

Troy Aikman never led the league in yards or touchdowns, and he's a HOF.

Yeah, it's different between a QB that can win with almost any type of team, and a QB that is scheme-dependant.

But even if scheme-dependant, if the QB is able to master his scheme and lead his team to a SB win, he's elite.

Aikman did that. Roethlisberger did that. And Ryan is great at his.

They're not like Trend Dilfer, that just didn't cost his team the games. They were the reason their team won a lot of games.

Now, how good they are or how good they would be in a scheme that was dependant of them, that is debatable.

But Roethlisberger is an elite QB. No one wins 2 SBs without being elite.

Ohh man, some of you folks are delusional. You guys won one freaking superbowl under Rodgers. Congrats on that. Every year, the stupid media has their "elite quarterback bs discussions". Last year, Drew Brees was the elite quarterback flavor of the year. Now, it's Rodgers. To me, only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are elite quarterbacks. Rodgers is not elite yet. He has a long career to go before you put him in that category. Manning and Brady have been there, although, if you guys want to say someone isn't a big time playoff quarterback, then Manning would rank behind Brady and Ben.

But, until you guys put together more than just one victory. Then talk about Rodgers. Big Ben has won a lot of games and a lot of big games, and he has two Superbowl rings behind him.

I also guess that big drive in XLIII doesn't count as a bigtime drive that was needed with 2 minutes left. Yes, the Steelers came out flat against the Packers, and we lost the game, but either way, once again, Roethlisberger is a great quarterback and he has won many games in his carrer in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to go when the Steelers were down. I've seen it many times. I blame a lot of the loss against the Pack on the Steelers secondary, then i'd say those turnovers by Ben were the next problem that cost them the game. There were two times in the 4th quarter where the Steelers could have went ahead, so while most of you think you were "blowing them out", the Packers weren't blowing out the Steelers. In fact, the Steelers are rarely blown out.

Obviously all that cheese you consume is clogging your arteries to the point that not enough oxygen is getting to your brain to allow for clear concise thinking.

Stairway to Seven might not take as long as you think. The Steelers are not ran by incompetent owners and management. They are just a minor retooling away from getting back there again.

Every year there is something. A few years back are offensive line was atrocious but they still won a Superbowl with that team. The last two years it's been our cornerbacks.

The Steelers have some of the youngest and fastest wide recievers in the game. The offense is rather young, actually, and the defense still has gas left in the tank too.

You guys just wait. The Superbowl hangover is coming and it will bite the pack too. Rodgers will end up pulling a Charlie Sheen now that he's been elevated in the spotlight, and then we can have our fun at your expense too. :Heristical:

Sounds like someone is a little bitter. Funny how every steelers fan told us that the Steelers defense would destroy us.

I'm just speaking the truth. The pack are the flavor of the moment. Roethlisberger, like Rodgers won a superbowl during his second shot in the playoffs. Now, let's see if Rodgers can pull it off again. Until the script is finished, there's still a lot of games left before you can start comparing him to Brady, Manning, or even a Ben.

Ultimately it's Superbowl victories that people remember. Like many of you said, Aikman always seems to be remembered more than Jim Kelly. And Jim Kelly had the better stats. If Ben gets one more title in his time, the same will happen to him compared to someone like Phillip Rivers who has yet to pull one out, yet has better stats.

While stats matter. Stats don't always tell the whole story. Rodgers had a career year this year, and he was a worthy champion in the process.

The Steelers defense has also had great stats, and they've also had their rings too. So, just because Rodgers beat them once, doesnt' mean the Steelers defense is finished, or Ben is done either. There is next year. And i'm not bitter about next year, or even losing to the Pack in this superbowl. For some reason the game didn't sting me that hard. I was disappointed, but I got over it a few days later.

Sorry pal, those early NFL championships don't count for much, and most fans other than Packers and Bears fans could care less about those years, because they were during a different time and different era. Congrats for being the best team during the leather helmet days, and when the league was mostly 10 to 12 teams.

Are you aware that the Steelers have been around since 1933? They've been around almost as long as the Packers and Bears. Five of the Packers Championships came in a 10 year span in the 1960's. No other team has come close to doing that other than the Patriots and they just missed.

    Of course.

You are speaking the truth, and anyone that disagrees with you has cheese blocking their oxygen flow...

No, really. Insulting the ones that disagree with you is a great way to make a point...

    Yeah, before the AFC merger.

I realize the Steelers have been in the league that long, and they weren't that good back then.

Also, the niners won 5 Superbowls in 12 years. The Steelers won 4 in 6 years during a time when the league had a lot more teams than when the Packers were pulling off their feat in the 60's. THe Patriots only won 3 Superbowls in 4 years...so im not sure where you are getting 5 Superbowls in 10 years with them? They didn't get there.

Im not going to take away what the Packers did in the 60's, but the NFL was not the same league like it became after the merger. Technically speaking, the Packers only have 2 Superbowls since the merger.

I thought a lot of Steeler fans lived in the past, but Packer fans and bears fans are much worse. That mentality was one of the reason the packers held onto favre for about 5 years more than they should have. Do your wives still wear beehive hairdoos and wear poodle skirts too?

Just a residual fan from that bunch that wanted to come here and start fights.
Not gonna take it, just because he's bitter about losing.
Also not gonna let him insult our fanbase like that.

    Buh Bye SteelIsWeakerThanCheese.

It's a well known fact that Cheese melts steel, sends bears into hibernation, knocks falcons out of the sky, blows the wings off Eagles, makes Vikings hair fall out (especially 40 year old Vikings), and cowboys crap their pants and cry.

    Don't taunt the Cheese!

damn you RS for taking away my fun :(

seriously though, the steelers have the worst fans of any team in the league. Worse than Eagles, Cowboys, or Vikings fans.

See, I didn't think that, but recent events changed my mind.
Just too many trolls for one fanbase.

And I was actually defending Roethlisberger in this thread...

Ok lets go back to the bears packers week for the NFC championship. you would assume you would have a ton of issues with these two fan bases, but I dont remember even anyone getting banned that week. I dont even know how many steelers fans you had to ban for about 3 weeks, but it seemed like alot.

I agree 100%. Of course, I live in Pittsburgh, so I would know. They still can't get over the fact that the NFL existed pre-1972 (the year of the Immaculate Reception). Up until 2004, the Steelers all-time record was only .500 (they've since improved it greatly). The Super Bowl couldn't have gone any better - the Packers winning it, and the Steelers losing it.
