And yeah, Ricky tested positive again in April. Can't be reinstated until September. I think he's done.

Dolphins | Williams tests positive for marijuana

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the National Football League until September, according to sources. The league's medical advisers that oversee Williams' rehabilitation program recently notified commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test and made the recommendation that Williams not be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September, sources added.

My point for you folks is that, Nobody, absolutely no one has ever been let back into the league after being banned for substance abuse. No one.

With the new Commissioner wanting to handle discipline which spiraled out of control under the wet noodle lawyer Tagliabue, the atmosphere appears against players breaking precedent and being re-admitted to the league.

This thread is discussing an extremely remote possibility.

So Ricky should be the first ever break precedent and get re-admitted to the NFL after
1) a lifetime ban
2) repeated violations of NFL rules
3) repeated use of illegal drugs
4) repeated violations of state and federal laws?

After he becomes the first ever to be re-admitted after a lifetime ban for repeated drug use, he then

a) Pays back the Dolphins the unearned prorated portion of the signing bonus he received.
b) The Dolphins decide to sell their rights to him.
c) Somebody is stupid enough to pay for the rights to a washed up mentally ill drug abuser.
d) Ted Thompson suffers a personality change and enjoys throwing away money.
e) Ted Thompson actually pays for the rights to acquire an overpriced washed up mentally ill repeat drug offfender.
f) Ricky Williams, a washed up, mentally ill, drug abusing criminal can actually play football well enough to make the roster of the Packers.

If you think Ricky Williams is the poster child for re-admittance to the league after a lifetime ban for crimminal drug abuse, you are an anarchist.

If you actually believe it will happen, you do not have a grasp on reality.

Ricky Williams was suspended for the entire 2006 Season. He did not receive a lifetime ban.

He'll play in 2007 but he'll probably make the min wage and be a backup on the Dolphins.

He won't be playing in the NFL.
Some day he is going to have to pay the Dolphins the 8.6 million dollars or declare bankruptcy.

He was on his way back to the NFL and then he tested positive again. It's not a matter of whether or not the NFL will reinstate him, it's becoming a matter of whether or not Williams can give up marijuana for football.

I don't thin he can. He hasn't been banned from the game like say Pete Rose in Baseball but he might as well quit because he obviously can't give up on marijuana.

Over/under on when he gets suspended again. 2 weeks. I say under.

No idea, but with Grant, I don't want him. Wynn & Herron will be back next year, B-Jack will be better next year (he's starting to show promise). No need for Williams.

On the radio today some guy said that 'the Packers have picks, the Dolphins need picks. The Dolphins have Ricky, the Packers need Ricky.'

I had a good laugh. I'll take Ryan Grant and the ever improving(cant get worse) Brandon Jackson. PLUS we have Mo as 3rd down specialist and other specialist(gatorade specialist).

Keep the headcase in Miami.

Good job Goodell, anybody that thinks weed is harmful is delusional and should see a shrink immediately. Our laws/regulations against weed is ridiculous, and completely disgusting. I hope Ricky tokes up on the NFL logo.

Just say no to drugs(marijuana), meanwhile the NFL has beer commercials which kills far more americans right before they show the car commercials. Then they suspend players for drinking and driving. The NFL is full of hypocrites. When somebody gets beat up in a football stadium, its from some drunk a-hole, not someone who just lit up a cigarette. Its funny how you cant buy a joint but you can buy 100 beers for 50 bucks. Enough to get 20 people drunk enough to kill someone in their car. Ask K-Rob which drug he thinks is more dangerous. Ive said enough.

Good luck Ricky

We don't need him, and Thompson doesn't want him.

MM was asked if the Packers should grab him..It was asked the other week from the Gary and Cliff show on wssp out of Milwaukee..

Mm's initial reaction was to LAUGH OUT LOUD!!

He did work with him in NO, but he didnt seem to want the team to go after him..but he did wish him the best and hoped he could get on the right path
