There is no Lombardi's Steakhouse in Green Bay. Last I checked, Appleton was 30 miles away. I think we need to get these Minnesotan's a geography lesson. ;)

Holding the bill from there is the only way the Vikings will be able to hold anything with Lombardi's name on it, this or any year. Small victories, no matter how sad they may be to the rest of the world, are, well, yeah...

Good catch. Although the Lombardi Steakhouse is indeed located in the hotel where the opposing teams always stays, in Appleton. So they may have eaten there. Maybe next time they'll think about crossing the street to eat at Subway. The money they save could go towards a new stadium. Doesn't sound like anyone else wants to buy them one.

    OMG I think you hit a brainstorm/idea.
That's how they will come up with the money!
    I can just see the memo;

    From: the Vikings front office.
    To: All players and coaches.
Cost cutting measures that the team must follow starting now:
    1) No more plane trips. From now on the team will get to road games literally on the road in the new team bus.
Even though it's a rusty old school bus with fading yellow paint, it has a perfect safety record. We think.
(Actually, it's the bus in the NFL Play 60 ads. We stole it and painted on rust spots to disguise it. Don't tell anyone.)
    2) Eating out only in fast food joints or other places where the entire meal must not exceed $10.00 per player. Anything over that you will pay for on your own.
    3) No more free tickets for friends or family members. From now on they must pay just like everyone else.
    4) No more luxury hotels for away games. From now on it's just gonna be the Motel 6 nearest the stadium.
    5) Reductions in pay. From now on everyone will somehow have to adapt to a frugal lifestyle since every player will now be paid anywhere from 10-15 dollars per hour depending on performance.
Why the heck should a bench warmer get six figures?

That's all I can think of. If anyone else has any others to add, feel free. Otherwise I may add more as I think of them!
C'mon gang. Let's help the Vikings so that we can continue to have more exciting games such as we did on MNF.

I think the pay reduction is a good idea. How about paying each player what they're worth. (dodging flying rotten tomatoes)

Other cost cutting ideas (Cont. from above post)
    6) No more equipment managers or water boys. Each player will now be responsible for at least one football provided at games (Shopko is having a sales on all sporting goods.) and for one's own uniform. You forget your shoes at an away game? Good luck in whatever shoes you wear.
Feel free to put whatever you want to in your own water bottle. Other sports drink? Go ahead. We won't tell Gatorade.
Beer, gin, other booze, a mixed drink? Go ahead. No one's going to check.
    7) Players must also provide own towels for the showers after the game.

    1. I like the Bus idea, too bad Amtrack so expensive. Though the players make so much they should each drive their own cars. (more cars more accidents that may occur)

    2. Hopefully the players aren't too hungry, hate to see how much the players would pay after the game.

    3. Expect empty sections since their families would probably rather greet them at home for emotional support after the game than have their son buy them tickets just to see him lose.

    4. Expect a bed bug breakout in the locker rooms, this may end up costing the NFL a lot of money trying to clean that mess up. NEVER trust a Motel 6 and quality of rooms. (TRUST ME)

    5. Hate to be a bench warmer wearing the wrong shoes.

    6. This one could get expensive for three reasons, one the Footballs for each team are customized for the team. Yes, each QB has a say in how they want the football prepared when they get the ball on offense. Two imagine if you wear the wrong shoes, there is a $5000 fine, and laughter. Also imagine what the cost is to sewing both jerseys the players wear, and how much the bill would be. Thank god the Packers have an awesome Seamstress, who is never out of work during the season. Also would love for the Vikings to play drunk, Packers just do better on hangovers ;)

    7. Now thats being cheap.

I would also propose that the bench warmers work in concessions to cut down costs.

    Great idea!

I was also thinking of having players work on grounds crew and maintenance but I'm not sure who employs the staff for the dome since it's not owned by the Vikings. So they could be saving money on that already if the Vikings don't have to pay them.

Here's another one: We are going to remove the roof and play only day games to save costs on the electricity of the lights.
In the event of cloud cover that may make it too dark to see we will ask everyone in the crowd and players on the sidelines to bring flashlights to shine on the field.

I'm kind of impartial on the roof one, they need the lights to keep it fair for both teams. But then again since the Packers aren't playing there again this season I'm for the idea. They should use the roof for blankets for the homeless for tax credits.

If we are scrapping the roof I'm pretty sure they can get some good money for scrapping the AC's as scrap metal.

Also since it will be snowing they should not have anyone clean up the snow but use it to reflect the light from flashlights so the overall stadium is brighter.

Heck, they could always use the U of M Gophers stadium like they did last year for that one game.
It's already got a giant M in the Middle of the field. (That's what it's for. Middle. Right?)
College ball there on Sat. pro ball on Sun.

I'm wondering what they could do with the mascot.
    Fire him?
Put him to work doing something different?

They can use his motorcycle to pull a sled for sled rides for the fans and over charge for it, and make sure they all sign away their liability for all the "smart" Vikings fans willing to do it.

And when there is no interest in Sled rides they can put the Mascot outside with an open suitcase and a sign begging for money.

And nobody will recognize him 'cause he does look like every other homeless guy.
Or else they will think he's one of those pillagers from Capital One and someone who is in credit card debt may run him out of town or else beat him while yelling "What's in your wallet!" between each punch.

Think of the money they could save by getting rid of the cheerleaders. Why not have the players wear short skirts & skankie tops with plunging neck lines. Offense to work the crowd while the defense is on the field and visa versa.

Not sure how that would repulse some fans.

Maybe they should rent out th home locker room to the homeless for a hatful of change.

They should also call Geico for 15 minutes which could save them 15% or more on car insurance for their bus.

Two lines of thought on this. First, if you took away the cheerleaders, the fans there wouldn't have anything fun to watch. Second, if you did this with making a bunch of 300+ pound guys dress up that way, it would probably greatly increase beer sales. So, yeah, go for it and create that revenue!
