You won't be getting a 3rd round pick for him. He'll be an unrestricted free agent.
Then we will get a 3rd round comp pick for him which is higher than we got him in the draft.kmac said:I don't think Teddy will jump on a deal, but I think Turner will be traded. They'll get nothing for him next season should he play for the Bolts this season. He'll be getting LT money, and the Chargers aren't going to pay 2 LTs.
I wouldnt call that getting nothing.
Here is something for you to look at. Enjoy:
Some Turner Highlites

Exactly and we will get a 3rd round comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere for big money and is a starter. Just like we are going to get a 3rd round comp pick for Drew Brees this year.

I don't see how this can be so. Your saying a team gets a comp pick for an unrestricted free agent? Why?
There would be an awful lot of comp picks out there if that were the case.

seeing that video, theres not enough to go on based on those games against weak opponents to say hes a franchise type player.
but damn, i saw lots of things i liked. he looks awesome, body wise speed wise. lots of nice one cut runs that would just be outstanding in the ZBS. doesnt go down easy. if we some how grab him, i think he can do a lot of damage on this team. and i love that hes is only 25. a young back to grow with our young line.
just for a second imagine this lineup
Driver / Jennings clifton/spitz/wells/colledge/taush/Franks Moss
Farve
Turner/Morency
even without an upgrade at Tight end... thats a pretty threating offensive lineup. if that happens, and i was a fan of anyother team in the NFC north... i would be freakin terrified.

That's not how it works. Chances are you get a Day 2 pick for him if he leaves and it depends on his production. 3rd is the highest compensation pick that you get rewarded. The only reason you got a 3rd for Brees was because he was your starting QB for a few years. Turner is your backup RB. The League won’t reward a 3rd round compensation pick for a backup RB. I'd guess a 5th.
Only way you get a 3rd is if LT goes down and Turner puts up respectable numbers.

Well i hate to tell you that you are wrong. Hey i dont claim to know the exact formula but i do read up on it and i have a decent idea and what your saying is not correct..... i mean it does depnd on the production but the size of the contract is the biggest thing, and then you add on performance and such.
Your last sentence does not apply...im talking about if we dont trade him and he signs a big contract elsewhere the following year.

Your banking a lot on Turner becoming a stud instead of a dud.

He is already a stud he just doesnt get enough carries.
We Charger fans know how good he is and apparently other teams GM's do too.

I agree but injuries factor in as does the team he goes to. If he ends up in Oakland or Cleveland I wouldn't put much stock into getting that 3rd rounder. A.J. Smith is like most GM's. A buisness man. He'll trade Turner if he gets what he believe is fair value.
does the chargers receiving comp picks increase/decrease/doesnt change the likelyhood of a turner deal?
