You get to design and choose the Packers All-Time Mount Rushmore team.
What 4 guys are on it?

You also get to design the 2011 version.
Who are your 4 guys?

This should be a 100% fun thread!

This was the ESPN All-Sports one.
I have a hard time leaving Wayne Gretzky off.
You can't have 2 baseball players, and no Gretzky.
And there are no football players!
Picking one all-time NFL player would be very hard!

My four guys:

Starr, White, (Hate to say it but) Favre, and Lombardi.

In 10 Years
Starr, Rodgers, Lombardi, Flynn

Problem with that one is that it only covers 2 era's. Need Lambeau in their somewhere. Obviously Lombardi stays. Not having Starr on there seems wrong, but with Vince in, that covers that championship era. Maybe keep Starr (for now till this era can nominate someone) for now. Until this bad taste gets out of my mouth, gotta go with White over Favre.

It's hard to leave Farve out, and as we all know, debate over him can last for dozens of pages over many threads.
Each side has a right to their opinion over him. That's been determined.
He was great. He was the first player in the NFL to win 3 MVP's, and he did it 3 straight years. He also helped us get out of the horrible 70's and 80's decades of dogcrap. He cleary deserves to be 1 of the 4.

Despite that, I leave him off. Character and conduct matter to me.
So do all his playoff chokes. Those scars and heartbreaks last longer than the positive feelings I got from him.
And it was Desmond Howard and Reggie White who made sure we got that Lombardi Trophy back. So he's off for me.

I go with:
Don Hutson
Vince Lombardi
Bart Starr
Reggie White

Now, if Rodgers wins a 2nd Super Bowl, then I chisel Starr off and carve Rodgers into it.
I leave Reggie because the defense needs some love.
And as much as I loved Chuck Cecil....... haha.

Curly Lambeau, Don Hutson, Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr

(although I am waiting for the first person to nominate Jerry Kramer).
Hutson definitely deserves it. He dominated his position more than any of these other players.
Lombardi clearly deserves it.... but if we keep this to PLAYERS only, we get to put another guy on.

No coaches...... they can have their own mountain.
It would be:
Lombardi
Homgren
McCarthy
Starr, LOL.

Players hutson, starr, white, rodgers with a little carving of farve under rodgers. Each one from a different eras of packers greatness. Though woodson could replace rodgers; though having his one speech written beneath the other heads would suffice

Cal Hubbard -- only person in both football and baseball HOF
Don Hutson -- no intro needed
Jim Taylor
Reggie White
I stayed with players and a who's who of Packers by necessity must be limited to HOFers.

Driver, Woodson, Reggie White, and Herb Adderley. As they are all bald or close to it, there would be less time, work and money needed to do the carving into the limestone as it would be to chisel the hair for Starr, Hutson, Lambeau, Lombardi, Jim Taylor, McCarthy, Holmgren, etc.

If Matt Flynn would just shave his head, he might get the nod over Adderley.

How do you have Starr over Lambeau?
haha.... not the LOL after Bart..... Bart was a horrible coach.
Great guy.... as a kid, when he was the coach, he let me inside the Packers facility and gave me and my dad a tour.... met Lofton, Chester Marcol.
And all along, I thought Marcol was baking something with flour.....

This is so easy, I pick one from each era, Curly Lambeau (without him the whole monument is a farce), Lombardi (really?), Ron Wolf would be my favorite from an aesthetic standpoint, his distinctive face ya know? But I'd give it to Brett, he WAS the face of the Packers and for the current generation it has to be Godgers.

I recognize Ali and Michael Jorden. (Or is that Kevin Eubanks?)
Please don't tell me that's Ty Cobb on there. He was one mean son of a b***h and shouldn't be immortalized.
Agreed and replace him with Gretzky.
And is that Babe Ruth on the far right?

Onto the Packers:
Old School;
Curly Lambeau
Vince Lombardi
Bart Starr
Ray Nitschke
(Gotta have someone on D)

New School;
Aaron Rodgers
Clay Matthews
Charles Woodson
Jordy Nelson

How bout this one:
Your Mt Rushmore based on just your favorite Packer players, today and/or ever? Nobody can argue that!

Mine, ever:
  • Reggie White
  • Robert Brooks
  • Sterling Sharpe
  • LeRoy Butler (I really wanted to put John Jefferson on there as I loved that guy, plus the goggles would look great carved in rock..... Al Harris almost edged Butler for me....and Kampman was close, Chuck Cecil too because you could have put some red rock on his bloody nose.)

Current:
  • Rodgers
  • Driver
  • Jennings
  • Woodson

So hard to leave off Matthews, Collins, Jordy.....

Wow. It is an impossible task to choose ONLY four. My best stab is

Vince Lombardi
Bert Farve ;)
Reggie White
Earl Lambeau

I'd like to stretch it out to the Packer's calendar for the ages. A Top 12 is more appropriate considering the illustrious history of our beloved Packer franchise

January Earl Lambeau
February Don Hutson
March Vince Lombardi
April Ray Nitchke
May Bart Starr
June Bert Farve
July Reggie White
August Ted Thompson
Septmber Donald Driver
October Aaron Rodgers
November Clay Matthews
December Lee Remmel
