As I’ve posted, I’d hold players out but IMO neilfii is right – neither side can “prove” which option is best. There’s a chance losing to the Lions and having key players sit out for three weeks would disrupt their chemistry and continuity. I acknowledge that risk but I think the risk of significant injury is greater. Get as many players as possible as healthy as possible and I like their chances.
And speaking of risks, the Packers had their last allowed padded practice today. There was a greater risk of injury in practice than usual and even so, McCarthy complained about the restrictions on padded practices in the new CBA. I'll bet that practice was particularly useful for Chad Clifton...
