I don't care how good a QB is, if he doesn't have the protection to throw, he won't do any good. That being said, the new offense installed will give Favre more quick releases, and not make him have to wait so long for a play to develope. I think that alone will take ALOT of pressure off him, and will stop the D from just blitzing him.
I think it will be a whole different show this year.

That may help, but again, with those inexperienced WRs, they're not going to be able to get open like you're suggesting. I point, again, to the strong defenses of the NFC North.

How come nobody else is as smart as Mike McCarthy? He is bringing to Greenbay the zone blocking scheme and short passes. From the sounds of it, these two ideas are going to make GB much better. I would think that www.packerforum.com should stop talking about these great ideas before any other teams find out about them. If everybody uses them, then GB's advantage will be gone.

And the lions are using zone-blocking now, too. The difference here is that I know it's a better suited scheme for power running, but I also know that offensive lines take time to become cohesive units that make this style effective. If the packers had a strong o-line, I might buy into your argument about it making them better in the immediate future, but the thing is that you DON'T have a talented line, so I expect it will take even longer in GB's case, if ever - with those guys.
The Lions and the Packers are very similar teams. They're both implementing a zone-blocking scheme and they're both running a Cover 2.

I wouldn't expect anything less...coming from a Lions fan but that's okay. I think GB is headed in the right direction so the present doesn't look as bad as everyone wants to make it out to be for the green and gold.

Of course, the Lions on the other hand...just kidding mineral (sort of).

In all honesty, I think the Lions and the Packers are both headed in the right direction. But you guys really should have gotten some help on your offensive line and I think you're going to suffer in the near future for neglecting that part of your team.
And the thing is that a lot of you are like, "offensive line, schmoffensive line," but it is the most important part of a football team, as far as putting points up. Yes, the Pack is probably headed in the right direction, but it's going to be interesting to see which team emerges first.

yeah we neglected it this offseason. oh wait, we drafted 2 guards who the coaches like, and are starting.

    A for effort though, tool.

    without a doubt...

in our defense there weren't a whole lot of options out there aside from Hutchinson. at the price Minnie paid for him i think the right decision was made.

first thing first, the Lions have to get rid of that culture of losing over there. that can be a nasty habit to shake out of a locker room.

I don't disagree with you there at all. The Lions = Losing, there's not a doubt about it. But I think a lot of the locker room attitudes have changed. Mike Martz has said that these quarterbacks (Kitna, Orlovsky and McCown) are the best he's worked with. Now I don't believe that, but I think he's doing a good job of mentally turning this team around. If the OC and QB don't have some sort of confidence in each other, then it's just not going to work (see: Mooch and Harrington).

But about the two starting guards, Tromadz: They're rookies. Both of them. When was the last time a team with 2 rookie guards won a significant amount of games?

go ask the schwabb or something. All I know is they are talented and fit the mold of the new scheme, and are loved by the coaches.

maybe the answer to your stupid trivia next year will be "The 2006 Green Bay Packers"

    OHHH IT HURTS! IT HURTS!

As talented as the coaches are saying, they're still inexperienced. I'd rather have average experienced linemen than above average inexperienced linemen. Experience is key on the offensive line.

Do you really think those guards are ready for Chicago and Detroit's defensive lines?

    Colin Cole
    Jenkins
    etc
    etc

and who cares how big and bad your linemen are, how are their knees? cuz they wont have any after they play GB.

Once upon a time, you had a legitimate argument. Those days are over. GB is going to intentionally hurt Detroit's linemen?
    How low will you go?
