Adequate at best. The Bears fans were so excited to get him and I'm like why? In three years at Denver he never got them to the playoffs, or even had a winning season. So far his only playoff win is against a team that was 7-9 in the regular season?

    define good

I think he is in that 10 to 15 category in QB rankings. But he doesnt have much to work with in chicago. O line is garbage. WRs are terrible. Greg olsen was decent but Martz hated him for some reason so they trade him. He has that Brett Favre style of play, big numbers, good and bad. Wont win championships bc of the INTs but will get teams to the playoffs. He deserves credit for winning the NFC north last year. yeah they had luck but he should get some credit.

I agree. Give him credit winning the division. But he never had real success. He beat a 7-9 Seahawks in the playoffs does that count for anything?

When it was Brent Fail's 1st year with the Vikings, I watched the Mon. night game against Da Bears.
Cutler threw an awesome pass to pull off the win.
Because of that and I hate the Vikings more, I'm actually OK with Cutler.
Plus he did help Da Bears get to the NFC championship last year.
I really dunno what makes a QB a good one in terms of stats and stuff. I just go by my gut and what I see on the screen.
I haven't seen enough of Cutler to really form an opinion but I think Jay is good for Chicago and what they need right now.
Is he good enough to win a Superbowl? I dunno but time will tell.
And if he does, I will give him credit instead of the ol sour grapes answer that it was just all luck.

If winning the division (and getting to the NFC championship game respectively) were due to Cutler alone I would say, yes, he is a good QB. But I don't believe that was all Cutler. Most of that credit lies with other players. Hester..... Lets not forget the Bears actually have a very good defense (something we don't like to think of). I don't define him as a good QB. Average, passable at best but not good and certainly not great. I don't think the Bears will stand a chance of winning the SB with him at the helm. NFC championship game maybe, but no further, the rate of INTs alone will kill that ride. But to be completely fair, I think sometimes we are a bit too harsh on the guy. There is a lot of intense dislike for him and I don't think it's all rooted in his ability or inability to play QB, I think a lot of it is because we just don't like him. He's not a bad QB, far from terrible. He's just no Rodgers, so if we are in any way comparing him to some of the elite QBs Rodgers, Brady, Brees........... he does not rank in that category. But he also does not suck, more like hopelessly average.

Counts as his ONLY playoff win, I guess.

I would not consider Cutler to be among the elite QB's in the league.

In terms of physical skills, he would rank as one of the better QB's in the NFL. But when you take the mental aspect of the game then his stock drops because he is well below average in terms of mental toughness and the ability to lead.

Prime example would be Cutler vs Drew Brees. Culter has a better skill set but Brees blows Cutler away when it comes to the mental aspect.

10-15 seems perfect to me right there with eli, flacco, schaub, cassell. I will say he has very underrated mobility and running ability. Funny part about it though is he really is not much better at all than orton, after that trade everyone was expecting another brady or peyton to rise and bring Chicago many titles but truth is chicago greatly over-hyped him and gave denver way too much in return. I will admit it I feel like everyone is quick to criticize cutler for anything because of that trade and the unrealistic expectations placed on him after. That being said he does bring him self across as a high arrogance baby no one would deny that.

So back to your question, I said yes because to me 10-15 is that good range elite no but no one is questioning whether you should start or not.

You'd have to really define "good" (Haha, Ivo said same thing). I would rank him in the 12-15 range I suppose. I can see why Bears fans would be high on him, since they are not used to quality QB play, Jay Cutler is a hell of an upgrade for them. He has a really strong arm and good athleticism but his decision making and accuracy are downfalls.
