What's the deal with the NHL?

Isn't it better to play for 3 million than no million? I'm not understanding the hold out here.

The owners have dug in their heels on the salary cap issue; lack of trust between owners and players led to this sad situation.

I think both the owner's and players are equally responsible for this. They wanted a cap and the players gave in, but the owner's wanted the cap to be $49 mil and Bettman wanted like $45 mil.

That is not accurate...the owners were willing to go as high as 42.5 million dollars and the players were willing to go as low as 45 million dollars; in essence, the NHL lost its season over a measly 3 million dollars.

i think espn did an online poll and 60% of the people said they really didn't care either way...hockey is definately struggling.

    Re: NHL

I wasn't in the room on either side, so I can't say for certain what the final numbers were, but any number they were "apart", remember, has to be multiplied by 30 teams. 3 mill apart on a cap? 90 million dollars.
