My take on our defense

I broke down our defense and this is my take on it.

Matthews: Definite playmaker
Williams: Playmaker I would try to redo contract
Shields: Playmaker Try to resign if not outrageous
Neal: Playmaker I would resign and start at outside LB
Daniels: Playmaker starter on DL
Burnett: Not sold on him but gave him big contract so he starts at safety
Perry: DL is his best position cant cut it at LB
Hayward: Like him a lot. Solid CB
Hyde: Like him a lot Safety might be in his future
Jones: Like him think he will be a main cog on DL this year
Jolly: Like him played well until the injury. Resign if at all possible
Hawk:Just a guy
B Jones: Even less of a guy
Bush: good special teamer
Worthy: Im leaning toward bust. Will give him one more year.
Pickett: Would keep at a 1 year minimum
MD Jennings: Hope he signs with the Bears
Raji: Hope he signs with the Vikings
Wilson: Just a guy
Lattimore: See B. Jones
Think I covered most of our defense Didn't mention some of the younger guys. Not much to go on. If I were GM I would replace both inside LBs. Find a competent safety either early in the draft or free agency and find a couple of DL men with heart! What do you think of my take on this issue.

Basically a concise summary of the forum postings since the season ended. Won't find much disagreement.

Agree--5 playmakers?

Matthews is the play maker. The problem--Even without injury, because there are no other playmakers, he gets neutralized based on the opposition focusing on him.

If they lose Shields, reposition the current players and draft/develop, it's going to be a long season. Rodgers, when on the field, will make the defense better by keeping them off the field. However, without more speed and leadership the GB "D" likely will struggle again.

Hope I'm wrong.
