The guy is tough, no question about it. But without my gold and green colored glasses on, this is it for him. 2006-07 will be the last year for Brett. 16 years is a long time to play, but I don't think you'll see season 17 out of Favre. It has nothing to do with the media - he's old.
But we'll see how effective Mr. Favre is come September.

His constant questioning is due in part of the media constantly hounding him. Not his play on the field. I never said that. If the media would leave him alone about retirement the saga wouldn't be there. Not to say Brett is innocent. If he'd jus say 'no comment' that would resolve the issue too. But Brett isn't a 'no comment' kind of a man. He's a I'm gonna tell you whats on my mind kind of man. Which albeit I beat my hand against my head sometimes at what he says, I'm glad he's honest with us.

Brett will play this year and next year. Anything after that I can not confidently say.

As I've said numerous times though. Brett know's this team will not be a SB contender and the chances of next year are far greater due to the young guys with great potential (Collins, Poppinga, Kampman, Carroll, etc) will have another year under their belt and a good year under the new regime.

This year is gonna be kind of 'blah' in the hopes of playoffs for my perception. Next year is what I'm really getting a ***** for! :p

Sure they dominated, they had the "talent", back then. And now, there "great" team of old, is just that, old, in the fact the players do not play anymore, save Favre, and he is showing his age.

    8-8?

Very homerish, not realistic. Sorry, Mr.Pickles is correct, the talent is not there.

    Next year?

A new coaching regime, a old quarterback who loses games by trying to do everything and whos skills have gathered the weight of age, one marginal wide-reciever and a motley crew of projects( Mr.Pickles is still waiting for Robert Ferguson to "emerge"), a horrible offensive line that is depending on rookies who will get man-handled by superior NFC north D-Lineman, you don't think Tommie Harris, Adewale Ogunleye, Alex Brown, Shaun Rogers, James Hall,Kevin and Pat Williams are chomping at the bit, wait for the season to start?

Mr.Pickles will not even get into the defense.

Next year? You guys have to be way more realistic, and face the facts:

Your great players got old, they were replaced by players who were not great, therefor, you will not be good.

The Packers need a complete overhaul, starting with Thompson. Ron Wolf leaving set the team back 10 years, and now its showing.

Just face facts, Packer fans. Brett didn't want to come back this year and he's not coming back next year.
He publicly stated that GB needed to take an aggressive approach to free agency. By that, I don't think he meant paying almost $50mil for Woodson. He's going to get hammered again this year.
Your offensive line will make players like Kalimba Edwards and Erasmus James look like pro-bowlers.
On the other side, Roy Williams, Koren Robinson and Muhsin Mohammad will turn your defense into swiss... ahem... CHEESE!
5-11 is realistic for you guys. I'm glad all of that 12-4 and 10-6 nonsense is settled.

    Exellent post!!!

Mr.Pickles also wonders if they replaced their best, most consistant player the past 3 seasons, Ryan Longwell.

I really don't think anyone is implying the Packers are a 12-4 team. You have to understand that we lost almost all of our games by by less than 9 points.

Us Packer fans ARE implying that this is a team which can be anywhere between 5-11 to 11-5 at best. Fact of the matter is Packers have an easy schedule. Combine that with injuries to key players of OTHER teams, and a few of our players emerging, the Packers will have the pieces in place to go 11-5, not that they WILL go 11-5.

The fact of the matter is, I couldn't care less about why Brett came back. Be it he wanted to, or lost a "truth or dare" game, the fact is he is back. With brett you know the Packers have a chance. There is reason to be high.

Funny thing is you go around saying the Packers D will get beaten by WRs.... hmmm, how about some proof first. People also said Ryan Leaf would be a great NFL QB and that Favre wouldn't last too long in the NFL game. Look what happened. So hold on to your panties, and wait before you say things with any certainty.

All of that "easy schedule" talk doesn't apply anymore. The NFC North isn't going to be as bad as it was last year. You shouldn't even BREATHE 11-5. You're just wasting air.

Favre might be back this year, but rest assured that by putting all your chips on Brett and Rodgers that the Packers will be 2 easy wins for every NFC North team for 3 years to come.

In this thread, Z2C, you said that you wish Brady was your backup behind Favre??? That's seriously the craziest thing I've ever heard. Isn't this supposed to be your realistic breakdown?

cheesey, clearly a fan with dementia that rides a short bus and wears a helmet, boasts at 11-4 at the worst?

You guys have lost your minds.

Well mineral, there isn't a person I would rather put all my chips on than Brett.

You say NFC North isn't going to be as bad.... how so?

    Lions: There still in dissaray.

Vikings: I don't believe Johnson is the future, tehy have no established RB, and besides Robinson their WR crop is young and filled with potential. On defence, their LB core is still suspect, CB Fred Smoot is overrated, and S Darren "I thought it was two hand touch football" Sharper is a year older.

Bears: They are the team to beat, I won't argue that. But I want to see their defence repeat what they did last year. I don't think it can mantain that level of play this year. Add to that the ability of Grossman to always find a way to get injured, a few of their players being disgruntled, and suposedly a poor rookie draft class leaves them with a few question marks too.

The fact is that in reality things don't play out like they do on paper. 11-5 a waste of breath, why? NFL is a funny game, and almost anything is possible. No one said 11-5 was a good bet, we all know it's a longshot at best. But why shouldn't we dream?

And exactly who the hell are YOU to tell us that it is us wasting our breath? I mean alright so we are, not like we are effecting you in any way.

For God sakes man, zero was replying to "the-tom-brady-hater". He was joking around with tbh. I thought it was clearly evident.

And cheesy clearly added the line about the kool-aid implying that he was indeed joking. Not to mention the emoticon that shows he was joking.

Why not dream? Because when you wake up, the wet spot you'll be laying in will no doubt be uncomfortable to say the least.

Like I said, the Bears aren't my favorite team and maybe last season's record was a little inflated, but they're going to hand it to the Packers again this year.

Who the hell am I to tell you this? I'm mineral723, professional football connoiseur and author of the book "Why the Packers' Offense Will Lose Ten Games For Them This Upcoming Season", a non-fiction piece based on the award-winning musical by Mike Sherman.

Yet again you type as if it is a sure thing that the Bears will beat the Packers. Prove to me that it is.

You write as if it is a sure thing that the Packer's O will be bad, well PROVE to me that it will be.

Proof is in the pudding, my man. Based on last year's performance (x) and the lack of any help with the offense through the draft or FA (x + 0) = (x), which is clearly represented as last year's performance
    (x) + (x + 0) = x

Don't do something so silly in front of someone who enjoys math.

    X + (X+0)

    actually becomes

    X + X

    which equals

    2X.

And no where in the the post above have you placed a restriction on X, which means that X is, by default, considered to be any natural number. I should point out now that 0 (zero) is NOT a natural number.

    I'm sorry. here's a better equation:

We have X, which represents how terrible the pack was last year.
and we have 0, which is exactly what the Packers did this off-season.

    x + 0 = x

All this does is prove that the Packers will finish 1st.

    x + 0 = x

    take the derivative of x

    which equals

    1 + 0 = 1

    which becomes

    1 = 1

Thus your formula has proved the Packers were number one before last season, and they will be number one this season.

    You keep thinking that.

I'll be over there, with the realistic folks who think that the Packers' worst record in 14 years wasn't a fluke.

All this equation talk has actually started to make me wonder whether the Packers season last year can be displayed through equation forum. Will go off to try that now.

Thanks for the idea mineral! :D

A team of MIT professors and Stephen Hawking couldn't provide mathematical proof that the Packers are going to improve this year - that is with a set of controlled variable that everyone will agree on.
