I have made detailed predictions on the Packers win/loss total for the upcoming season in the forum that's not dedicated for chumps such as yourself. See you would have known that if you would have looked for something OTHER than an argument ;)

Looking at the schedule now. I say 8 - 8 or 9 - 7 if the Packers stay healthy. I see them going no worse than 6 - 10. If they make the playoffs I presume one and done. The following year (with expecting a good draft) the Packers will be a solid thread because Brett will be playing that year as well.

    Seriously, all smack talk aside:
What is it with Favre? I mean... I get it. He's a future hall of famer, but I saw you guys giving him As in your little report card thread. What gives? He had more interceptions than TDs last year. You guys have done nothing to improve the quality of the recievers and yet you guys think he's going to resurrect like a narcoleptic Jason Vorhees? I don't think so. Your offense hasn't changed and you're expecting different results from last year?
I will give Brett Favre all the credit in the world. The guy was a genius in his time; but his time has come and gone. It's time to move on, Packers fans.

I agree with you Zero...I also know that in the "parity" age of NFL football, you always have to leave a standard of deviation because it seems as though any team can win on a given Sunday...it's just how the NFL works nowadays.

Anyway, with that being said, one could look at 8-8 (plus or minus 2-3 games) in my opinion. That would leave the Packers anywhere from 5-11 to 11-5...I said 12-4 tops earlier because if the ball bounces the Packers way (which it probably won't) all season the margin could even be 4 games greater.

I think it is fair to start with this team as an 8-8 ballclub and then watch where the breaks fall...

we're all good Z2C...it was fun while it lasted but it's much more fun using these anti-Packer punks.

Oh, and mineral...the offense does change just a little bit when you implement a completely new zone-blocking scheme in the run game, hire a new HC who will assume the passing duties and implement a more true form of the west coast offense utilizing tight ends and running backs more while taking the "every third pass as a deep ball" out of the equation.

It's a great effort by you to say "same old Packers" and I tend to agree. The same old Packers attitude that you display is precisely what I hope for. The same old Packers in the mid 90's that used the tight ends and frickin' dominated....

So the Packers will have the same amount of injuries to their starters that they did last year? Let me think about that for a second...umm, no.

Injuries happen. For all you know, old man Favre could go down in your opener if the Bears maul him in the same way they did last year. Then what happens??? Aaron Rodgers to the rescue?

Could happen couldn't it? The world could end today too couldn't it? The Bears could actually score 24 points in a single game too couldn't they?

Let's turn that around for a second...Muhsin Muhammad could go down with an ACL after Nick Collins shatters him on a slant route coudn't he?

If the Bears lose a WR, it won't be nearly as devastating as if you'd lost your starting QB, a position at which there is NO depth for the Packers. And let's be real; how much longer until Favre blows out a knee or rigor mortis sets in and he just can't move around? At his age, he's fairly injury prone, no?
If the Bears have their way with him again, I don't expect him to finish the rest of the season. If you do, well... then that's your problem. You'll be fairly disappointed.

I think Favre lost the 'fun' in last year. I think all the injuries got to him and it dramatically effected his play. I also know for a fact that he and Sherman/Rossly did NOT get along as well as it appeared. You won't ever hear Brett openly state that because of his loyalty to his 'boss'. Remember his father was a coach, he could never degrade a coach.

His INT's were in large part results of a poor OL, absolutely no threat at RB until Gado came along and receivers who were incompetent on their route running and ability to FIGHT for the ball if needed.

Brett is not the same QB he was when Holmgren was here, but he is far better than anything the Packers could get therefore he is a positive asset to the team.

That much, I agree with. He is your best option, but that's not saying much.
I'm not trying to be offensive here, but just because you're going to a zone-blocking scheme, doesn't mean you're going to have the Broncos' O-Line. It's a fairly difficult scheme for players to grasp. Honestly, I wouldn't expect your offensive line to be anything outstanding this year.
And I do like Favre as a player. He did some excellent things for the Packers and nobody will ever be able to take that away from him. That said, at this point his presence may be hurting the team more than it is helping it. Rodgers isn't the guy. I think we can all sleep at night knowing that. But barring some amazing FA acquisition next season, you're in the same boat in 07-08. The Pack hasn't done squat with the future of the QB position. Really, you're going to have a sorry team for a few years to come, at least.
Favre is a tough QB. That's his trademark. But I have to doubt his ability to return to a form that is proficient for the NFL - AND his ability to prevent and overcome injuries. He's tough, but how many more sacks can the guy take? He showed his mortality finally last year and I think his tank is almost empty. I'd really hate to see him go down from an injury and not play again; and I'm being serious. And I do believe the fun is gone for Brett at this point. He isn't going to another Superbowl and chances are that he'll be playing in meaningless games after the first half of the season. Overall, a bad way to end a brilliant career.

I think Brett is somewhat over rated by some, but with you I think you are poorly underestimating his abilities. This is something that tore Brett apart t hat not many truly know. Sherman would ask Brett to partake in meetings regarding the game plan. They would practice and practice and ignore Brett's suggestion every time. Then someone like Martin would get injured and that would throw the entire gameplan off because they would focus on using two capable TE's so heavily. Then the part that killed them was Sherman would outthink himself. He had no faith in his SYSTEM, instead if took his system as only being as good as his personnell and that bothered Brett.
The man was asked his input, then ignored, then he got to see his coach make the team practice something they weren't gonna use during the game because of the staff trying to out think themselves.

If the coach doesn't have faith in the system, its hard for the players to. Sherman was a great planning, but he couldn't follow through with his plans. That was (my opinion) his greatest downfall as a coach.

Saying the Packers are not gonna be a SB threat this year is what i've said. I think they will be .500 or better and if they get to the playoffs they will be one an done.

I can promise you Brett will have better stats this year because he has a coach who will stick to his guns with his system.

Remember, Brett is a PLAYER and players need a 'script' of sorts. When you change it on them they do not proferm well.

I'm not going to say that Brett won't get better numbers. He just might. I have said and will continue to say that Favre was one of the most creative QBs ever to play.

But I think the Packers' organization made a fatal error when they put all their eggs in Favre's basket. At his age, you really do need a capable backup. All playoff-caliber teams have capable backups.

I'm not saying that Favre will go down in an injury, but let's suppose for a moment that he does.
Rodgers comes in and turns Lambeau Field into a gigantic toilet bowl... and that sets them at a huge disadvantage for the future. The Packers will either have to draft a starting QB, which is possible but not realistic; or they will have to overpay for a mediocre QB who STILL will have nobody reliable to throw to, making him look worse than mediocre and Packers fans everywhere will lambast the signing and call for the coaches' head. But due to overpaying the mediocre QB, you won't be able to get rid of him and this will create cap problems. Meanwhile your recieving core will either stay the same or some of these really terrible rookies will have to step up - because your #1 priority will now be Favre's replacement.
Should Favre go down (which is a realistic scenario), I think the Packers will be in the toilet for at least two more years.

What? How do you suppose they put all their eggs in one basket?

I think a move in that direction would have been cutting players massively to keep Wahle and Rivera as a 'all in one basket' move more than they've done so far.

Hey, I'm just saying that if Favre goes down that life as a Packers fan will get bad. Well, it's pretty bad right now. It will get worse, though.

You said they put all their eggs in one basket. I'm asking how so? There is not a better QB available nor was their unless you wanna stake claim that Drew Brees is better than Brett and better than Aaron will be?

Well, they could've made a play for Griese or Brees to sit on the bench behind Favre and learn the system and maybe have Favre tutor them for this season or until he went down; at which point, the transition from Favre to QB "X" would've been smooth.
But maybe the organization thinks Brett is invincible and a capable backup isn't necessary? That's what I mean by "putting all the Packers' eggs in Favre's basket". Favre could make it the whole season without being injured, but I think it's a long shot. And if he goes down early, it looks like even 5 wins might be a stretch.
And yes, I will stake the claim that both Griese and Brees are better than Rodgers ever will be.

Griese is not that good. Brees I like. He's obviously more proven than Rodgers, but I think Rodgers will be just as good as Brees if not better and he comes at cheaper price. If the Packers would have went after Brees it would have made drafting Rodgers look really stupid.

I'm still not seeing how they put all their eggs in one basket. They have what they feel is their future QB in Rodgers, they have faith in his abilities and deviating from that would be foolish. UNLESS they felt he could not handle the job after Brett retires in TWO or more years.

They didn't outprice themselves to get LaVar or anyone else. Woodson's contract if you look at it is very fair for both parties.

You really think that Favre has two more years in him? After all his question marks about coming back this year? You really think that he's not going to be injured within two years?

And beyond that, you think that Rodgers will be ready if Favre goes down this year? You think he'll even be ready next year?

I am sure he does. Probably three if he dedicates himself and we a good OL protecting him lol

The thing about Brett is he's never suffered a major injury. People forget that the cause of most QB's getting pushed out of the league is because they've had to overcome injuries. Brett's been very lucky in that respect and I think that add's a year or two more to his durability and longevity.

I think if Rodgers starts we for sure do not get to the playoffs. I maintain the following year the Packers will be a threat (while expecting another good draft that is) and I can say that because our offense is predicated soley on the QB's abilities. It's focused on the running game and short passes.

I'm willing to bet if the media would have left Brett alone, he'd have announced (which he shouldnt even have to do) he was playing in 2006 much earlier. The media keeps putting stupid ideas an thoughts into his head. I say stupid because I don't want him to retire. I'm not saying his family and life after football are stupid.
