Did I say anything in my post about the Steelers being the only franchise that have that mindset?

If I think of fans who are arrogant because their team wins a lot, then it would go to Steelers fans. Of course, I live in PA so my view could be framed by what I see around here. But if it comes down to rudeness, it would have to be the Bears fans. The ones I know shave their heads like Urlacher and act all tough and big mouthy. Yelling racial epithets at the Packers in that first game takes the cake for me. Arrogance = Steeler fans Rude = Bears fans.

You know, something else occurred to me. How do we know the Steelers fans who come on here are legitimate Steelers fans? They could be obnoxious Bears, Viking or Favre fans who, for the Super Bowl, support the Steelers. You never can tell on the internet.

As a kind of funny aside. My older brother is a die hard Steelers fan. He told me he used to root for Green Bay in the 60's but got bored with how everyone was rooting for them. So he began supporting the Steelers. I wonder if I should ask him if he's ready to switch back?

To be fair, some of them I've seen on other team boards during the season. Others I have not. So, well, there's that.

I can't understand why fans bother to post on opponents' web sites. I think that is obnoxious.

I'd rather read and post on opponents' sites to learn about the other team, get to know some of the fan base etc..
Steelers fan boards interest me very little unless there's some high drama going on.

Besides, since I live in MN I'm a casual Vikings fan (excepting Vikings/Steelers games) and it's good to keep up with what's going on in the Black & Blue division.

The rudest fans I've seen were following the 2003 Cards/Vikings game that put Green Bay in the playoffs. They followed anyone in purple out to the parking lot, screaming obscenities--adults, kids, didn't matter. Was it Nate Poole that got the keys to the city? LOL

But... Cards fans used to be pretty pathetic. The attendance record was set when the San Diego/Miami(?) game was played in AZ. (True, it was a free game, but...)

I've heard the worst about Philly fans.

Vikings fans--how bad were they? I've seen people showing up in Packer shirts/coats (Vikings weren't playing Green Bay) and the "Packers suck!" chants started up, but the fans were laughing and the taunts were relatively goodnatured. Generally I find them to be apathetic and expectant of a loss, with the occasional crushing grief thrown in (loss vs. Atlanta, loss vs. NOLA.)

I ran into a few last night (not the guys who are here) that are offended that the Packers have planned a tentative victory celebration "if the Packers win" that "will not take place in the event of a loss". Tickets would not go on sale until the day after the game, when the outcome would be known.

    They called it "presumptuous".

What it presumes, I'm not sure...seems to me it presumes we could lose, or we could win...but I guess the idea that the Packers dare to think there is a possibility they just might win is a real slap in the face or something.

Yeah, but it's worth pointing out Pittsburgh officials are also making necessary plans in case of victory. It's called being prepared, and really isn't a big deal or indicative of anything.

You guys have the most beef with the Ravens and we have the most beef with the vikings. I have met alot of ravens fans and had no problem with them and I am sure you would say the same about the vikings fans.

Well, I guess I would have assumed that...so it struck me as odd that some Steelers fans (again, not the guys here that I've seen) were thinking that the plan in Green Bay was some kind of outrageous bulletin board material.

Here's some more: It may not happen, but there's a possibility that the Packers could play very well and if they do, they could win this game.

Okay, (other site) Steelers fans - go nuts. :rotfl:

Well, I'm guessing that the way the 2005 season ended* for the Steelers is still on thier minds, and they figure if it worked for their opponent at the time, it will work for them :happy0005:

*BB told the Pats that the Steelers had their bags packed for the SB, and showed them the map of the Steeler's proposed victory parade route, and, well... bwaaaahahahahaha

Yeah, I vaguely remember a packed bags incident...I didn't remember exactly who it was, but I remember hearing something about it.

You know, the Packers/Green Bay are very clear on the website that this event will only take place "if the Packers win" and will not happen "in the event of a loss". Sounds to me like they're acknowledging the possibility of a loss, but acknowledging the possibility of a win is just crossing some kind of imaginary black and gold line with some guys, I guess. :rotfl:

Well, yeah. That's a given. See, you have to understand - The Lombardi, by default, belongs to the Steelers: They just let other teams borrow it sometimes when they get bored with winning it.

Also, little known fact - Vince Lombardi was a Steeler fan, and learned everything he needed to know about coaching from the Steelers. Honest. True story. :happy0005:
