True. And I think one thing we'd all agree on is that TT pays attention to value more than anything in the 1st. Yeah, he's not gonna draft a quarterback or running back in the first because he's best available, but he has surprised us before. If we drafted beckham, I would lose hope and probably not watch anymore of the draft. Not to sound like everyone else, but we really have got to go defense, or MAYBE tight end.

I don't think Amaro would be there for our second round selection. And I also don't think he's the type of tight end were looking for. I like the mock draft but I'd get a Nose Tackle in the fourth and a receiver in the 6th or 7th.

The edge is to Janis in this measurables, shuttles, cones, etc.
What about production though?

Janis set multiple school records as a junior in 2012 with 106 catches for a Division-II-best 1,635 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning First Team All American and All-GLIAC honors. Janis again earned All-Conference honors in 2013 as a senior with 83 catches for 1,572 yards and 14 touchdowns, finishing his career second in GLIAC history with 4,305 career receiving yards.

STRENGTHS: Looks the part with a tall, muscular body type. Has worked hard to fill out his frame. Fleet of foot with very good build up speed to accelerate away from defenders. Controlled routes and shifts his momentum well with smooth footwork in/out of his breaks. Good hesitation to sell patterns. Good tracking skills and judgment on deep throws. Solid functional strength for the position, making it a chore for tacklers to finish him off. Strong competitor with an intrepid, fearless approach to the game. Very tough and holds onto the ball after jarring hits. Ambitious worker with strong intangibles and excellent character on and off the field. Try-hard player who gets the most out of his ability. Productive resume (37 career starts) with back-to-back 1,500+ receiving yard seasons the past two years. Holds the school record for single-season receiving yards (1,635), single-game receiving yards (300) and single-game catches (18).

Sounds a lot like Jordy Nelson.

Indeed. Janis ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at his junior pro day, and registered a 4.4 in his next try. He’s training at API in San Diego, and trying to get everything in shape as the draft draws near. Janis told me that he models himself after Green Bay’s Jordy Nelson, and I can see the comparison. Nelson is a surprisingly fast receiver with size, hands and toughness, and the Kansas State alum has become one of the more consistent and productive deep receivers in the NFL.

It’s not out of the question to think the same might someday be said of Janis.

There is a player that I intentionally left off of that comp list, but still warrants discussion.

Same height. Same weight. Jones is 1.8% faster, can jump 2.6% higher and 9.7% farther, while Janis has a significant advantage in lateral agility. Obviously Jones’ Dominator Rating was performed in the toughest conference to play college football in and Janis’ was done in DII against 5’8 cornerbacks, but we’ve seen an insane non-FBS DR be predictive in the past with the likes of Miles Austin, Pierre Garcon, and Marques Colston. The theory is pretty simple: if you’re NFL ready, you should be absolutely annihilating inferior competition. In terms of the comparison to Jones, I don’t think they are exactly a great 1 for 1 comp, partially because we don’t have RZ conversion numbers for Janis but this comp matters to illustrate a larger point: Janis is going to be a HUGE value in rookie drafts.

Exactly, don't sleep on that difference because it's SIGNIFICANT. Makes me drool just looking at it

Production can be an Illusion. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Janis and really want to see him in G/G, but his game IS different from Jordy's partially because of his measurables. I simply feel Matthews' game is more comparable.
