I didn't really know where to post this, so smack area seems as good as any... even though it's not smack, there's a lot of stats and facts in this.

I know a lot of us give Jay Cutler a bad rap, but I really think the biggest problem with the Bears' offense is that they're running a system that really hasn't worked to any great effect for nearly a decade now, and that's the Mike Martz offense. One of the newest posts on my site goes into detail about why Martz's offense is holding the Bears back. Of course, the O-line has a lot of the blame as well, but it's not fully on them.

    Agree? disagree?

My biggest beef with Martz is he has no backup when his game plan is clearly not working. He still tries to shovel the same plays out. Incapable of making adjustments. I mean, look what Green Bay's defense did the first half against the second half in Atlanta. That's making adjustments. Also Lovie has no clue on offense, use of time outs, or clock management.

But the Bears biggest problem is....well, they're the Bears.

I agree. Martz reminds me of Norv Turner in the sense that both are considered Offensive geniuses, but rely on that "title" instead of changing things up. I'll never forget this play:

The ENTIRE game the Bolts used Sproles up the middle hoping he could make people miss, but the Ravens weren't having any of it. Martz 's magic in St. Louis and Turner's magic in Dallas follow them, but c'mon CHANGE it up once in a while.

I don't know. I still miss John Shoop on the Bears. Who else calls seven yard pass patterns on third and ten?
