I feel terrible for Nick. Praying he'll be ok with no permanent damage.

I was having a good day today too. I don't know if I can watch the game this weekend....it might take five years off the end of my life.

I wasn't having a good day....this made it worse.
honestly though I think peprah will fill his shoes adequetly, heck who knows, maybe an injury like this will bring the defense together somehow and they'll get their act together (as far as the pass defense goes).

Wish for teh best for Nick, won't ever forget that amazing interception he had in the Super Bowl, and even if he has to retire do to this injury which I hope not I would be glad for all the greatness he brought to the Packers defense.

Sounds like a dislocated vertebrae or ruptured disc.... Better than a broken neck/paralyzed, but I guess his future will depend on how well it heals or surgery.

It's hard for me to comment on this without swearing.
I'm so tired of our team getting worse-than-normal luck with serious injuries.

Losing Sterling Sharpe in his early prime, to a neck condition, was the worst.
He was drafted the same draft as the Cowboys Michael Irvin.
I still believe Sharpe was better, the better pick, player.

But Sterling's career ended in 1994.
We lost in the playoffs, to Irvin, in 1994, 1995, 1996.

Irvin, coincidentally, in 1999 had his own neck injury that ended his career.
Why wasn't it Irvin in 94 and Sterling in 99?
We'd have won 2 more Super Bowls.

We also lost an emerging stud WR Terrence Murphy to a neck, in 2005.
Tim Lewis.
I think even LeRoy Butler had to hang it up because of a neck.

Nick Collins is our most underrated player.
He is a superstar, who doesn't get the national pub.
He's our Polamalu, Ed Reed, Bob Sanders.

I like Peprah, and Burnett. But they are not in the class of Collins.
Also, they won't each last the next 14+3 games.
We need more re-enforcements.
Not sure about Sharper because that guy always has gotten torched for deep touchdowns, even before he got slower.

What's up with Atari Bigby in Seattle?

Well last season we lost, Grant,Finley,Barnett, Burnett, for all intents and purposes Driver. Jenkins was in and out, we lost 3 games because we lost Arod. We came into the season without Al Harris, Clay as we find out was playing with a broken shin the last half of the season then we lost Woodson and Shields for half of the super bowl (Ok,Shields finished but he played with one hand) I know I am missing a bunch of other people. The point is, we adapted and overcame and we are the defending champions. We have an offense which when firing on all cylinders can out score any offense in the NFL (Patriots included). And they got their worst game of the season out of the way this weekend.

So lets light incense, breath deep and repeat "in McCarthy we trust".

gotta bring up this thread at the end of the season for those of you that are throwing in the towel........

I'm not throwing in the towel at all. I still think we will win the Super Bowl....I'm just frustrated with the injuries that keep happening. Is all I'm saying.

Terrible, terrible news, but I'm confident with this team the "next man up" mentality will be evident. GO PACK GO! Get well soon Nick!

With you all, I hope Nick is going to be OK physically. I wouldn't care if he never played another down of football as long as he get's fixed up straight and can still enjoy his life and his family.

Damn shame, these neck/spine injuries are life-changers. Some have to deal with serious pain for the remainder of their lives.

Things will be ok. Have they made a roster move yet? Isn't that gordy guy on the PS? Don't bring in sharper. I would rather not trade off a few int's for an old showboating risk taker like that.

Apparently Collins does not have stenosis, so perhaps that's a small piece of good news.

Bears Country... UGH!!
Get better Nick. Sorry to hear this. It's injuries like this that you kind of forget about how his absense will affect the team, but worry about how it could possibly affect his way of life. Speedy recovery Nick! Want to see you back in the Green and Gold next season!
