As coach of the Green Bay Packers, he had led the seemingly anachronistic franchise to three NFL championships in his first seven seasons. Now, fresh from a harrowing victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Championship Game, he was cast as the league's standard-bearer against the upstart Kansas City Chiefs in the first NFL-AFL World Championship Game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
