Detroit News reported that the Lions are leaning towards Matt Stafford with the #1 pick. Other reports say it is a diversion to hype up his stock and that they're hoping Sanchez or Freeman will be available in the laste 1st round.

The Lions need a face for their franchise, Stafford would be that face. I know drafts are supposed to be solely about making your team better, but I think we can all admit that if you're picking in the top 3 in the first round, the pick is at least a little about getting a guy who'll sell tickets.

I have read that they are leaning toward either Aaron Curry or Jason Smith as well. Personally, I think that they go with Stafford and he ends up busting.
