Is it just me or do the packers seem to a lot of their damage in the late rounds of the draft? Tauscher, Driver, KGB, Rivera, Barry, Diggs, Davenport, Longwell, Kampman, Jenkins, and Corey Williams were all 4th round picks or lower. This draft already looks promising, and the late round guys look like they have talent (Hawkins, Montgomery, Poppinga, Coston, and Whitacker). Maybe we should just trade away our first rounder every year and stockpile picks. I would definately rather have 2 or 3 promising projects over Carrol right now.

For some reason the Packers jus don't have all that great of luck with their earlier picks, I'm not sure why, but I've noticed that too.

I'll take good players where ever we can get them. But yes, it is nice to think of what could be to get some blue chippers early to go along with the late round finds. Let's hope TT can put it all together in future drafts.

The draft is a gamble. The more picks you have the better odds that a few of them will be successful. The "holes" that keep being mentioned by the national media are directly attributable to the 2003 draft.

Take a look at the number of picks Sherman began with and the players they wound up with. The 2003 draft is a classic case of missed opportunities.

Note teams cannot trade away compensatory picks.

The 05 draft will look good next year.
