Last year Capers didn't have much to work with. This season he has no excuse. He's got the personnel and he's got the pass rushers this year.
But now when I watch today's game and see our defensive backfield do the same things they did last year, miss tackles, blown coverages, players not knowing assignments, it's gotta come back down to him. Not saying he should be fired just yet but I am definitely looking for more out of him.
And what an above poster said about Capers' defenses notoriously starting out good and getting worse is intriguing but I think that's how it goes for a lot of defensive coordinators not named Capers too.
Just because Ted drafted a bunch of defenders this year doesn't mean Capers has anything to work with.
I am in no way saying Capers is blameless but Ted loves to rely on rookies to get the job done while that worked in the super bowl run 2 years ago it certainly didn't work last year and so far(yes 1 game, its still early) this defence doesn't look any better than last years.
In the next few weeks we will have a better idea of what this defence will be capable of or how bad it is. Hopefully this D can become something adequate at least.
