After a second straight disappointing performance in the playoffs, Packers President Bob Harlan wanted change. On Jan. 14, 2005, Mike Sherman was out as general manager and Ted Thompson was in. A little more than three months later, Aaron Rodgers became Thompson's first draft pick with the Packers. And, six seasons later, the Packers were Super Bowl champs.
