I'm fine with an OL, TE, or a studly RB, but I'll be all jacked up if we take a future of the franchise CB in round 1.
I put together a mock draft at the end of last week, but have been kind of self concious about it, but here it is.
*-Projected trade: Panthers sign RFA Derek Anderson with a 1st/3rd round tender.
Miami Dolphins - Darren McFadden RB Arkansas
St. Louis Rams - Michael Oher OT Ole Miss
New York Jets - Chris Long DE Virginia
New England Patriots (f/SF) - James Laurinaitis LB Ohio State
Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan QB Boston College
Oakland Raiders - Glenn Dorsey DT Louisiana State
Cincinnati Bengals - Calais Campbell DE Miami
Baltimore Ravens - Andre Woodson QB Kentucky
Kansas City Chiefs - Jake Long OT Michigan
Cleveland Browns *(f/CAR) - Vernon Gholston DE/OLB Ohio State
Arizona Cardinals - Kenny Phillips FS Miami
New Orleans Saints - Sedrick Ellis DT Southern California
Buffalo Bills - Keith Rivers LB Southern California
Houston Texans - Felix Jones RB Arkansas
Minnesota Vikings - Quentin Groves DE Auburn
Denver Broncos - Dan Connor LB Penn State
Chicago Bears - Phil Loadholt OT Oklahoma
Washington Redskins - Derrick Harvey DE Florida
Philadelphia Eagles - Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State
Tennessee Titans - DeSean Jackson WR California
San Diego Chargers - Steve Slaton RB West Virginia
Detroit Lions - Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College
Seattle Seahawks - Brian Brohm QB Louisville
Dallas Cowboys (f/CLE) - Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma
Tampa Bay Bucs - Limas Sweed WR Texas
New York Giants - Reggie Smith CB Oklahoma
Pittsburgh Steelers - Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh
Jacksonville Jaguars - James Hardy WR Indiana
San Francisco 49ers (f/IND) - Dre Moore DT/DE Maryland
Green Bay Packers - Aqib Talib CB Kansas
Dallas Cowboys - Mike Jenkins CB South Florida
New England Patriots (forfeited)
My current projection for the Packers:
I gave us Talib becuase I feel that the best way to improve our team going into next season would be to add to our defense. The Packers have both a very strong offense and a very strong defense, but with such an abundance of offensive free agents being available this upcoming offseason, defense looks like the way to go in the draft.
At 30, Talib is solid value (I'm making an early prediction that he'll run a 4.2 at his Pro Day), but there's also no one else on my big board worthy of a selection there at a position the Packers aren't great at. Talib is actually higher than 30 on my list, but due to his skinny frame, I have him dropping a bit (NFL GMs will fear injury). At 6'2" (We'll get an official size at the Senior Bowl... I'll assume it's 6'1"-ish) he should be heavier than 205 (again, we'll get an official size at the Senior Bowl... I'll assume it's 195). I personally feel that if he can't max-out at 6'2" 210, he'll drop.
There are a bunch of OL prospects we could take at 30, but none of them are higher than Talib on my board. Also, there's no RB prospect worthy of this selection and I wouldn't give them one anyway. I think we are satisfied with Grant and still want to see what we have in Jackson.
If we decide to take an OT in the first round these are possibilites:
Chris Williams out of Vanderbilt is a very good possibility. He's looked like a first rounder at times, but with such great depth at OT in this year's draft, I definitely see him falling to the 2nd. He's so freaking good though that I would take him in the late first. I see him playing RT.
Jeff Otah could rise to the high first (top-10) or fall to the late second depending on his senior bowl/combine results. I see him playing RT.
Barry Richardson is a guy that I was high on before the season, but has really dropped off. He could even be around in the 3rd round at this point. He's got so much talent and size, but he has an effort problem. Look for him at the end of round two. I see him playing RT.
I'm not a big fan of Tony Hills. I see him failing at LT and moving to LG.
Two huge sleepers I love are Heath Benedict and King Dunlap. I personally feel that Benedict will work his way into the early 2nd round and prove to be an elite OG prospect. Could go as high as Grubbs or as low as Blalock. I see them both as LG.
Also watch out for the two Rutgers guys Jeremy Zuttah and Pedro Sosa. Both are explosive as hell and will see time at OG and maybe RT at the next level.
Also don't forget I left out Ryan Clady. If he comes out, it'll only push guys like Cherilus and Otah down the list.
Also notice I left Sam Baker out of the first round. I just think he's incredibly overrated and will be a terrible pro.
As for TE, this TE class is terrible and I wouldn't take ANY of them on the first day.
