Chance Warmack OG Alabama

I cant believe he will not go in the top 5. He is the best OL prospect since Orlando Pace and Jonathon Ogden.

He looks pretty legit. Seems to be very athletic and a player who could possibly dominate the position.

Unfortunately for this hypothetical scenario, a Von Miller to stick at OLB or Trent Richard to be a complete running back doesn't exist (at this time) in this draft.

Luke Joeckel, LT, Texas A&M.

I don't think Sherrod ever will be good enough to be a good OT anymore in the NFL based on what happened to his leg. Sad, a 1st round pick, and a total waste.
I don't like Newhouse at LT, and still blame him for injuring Sherrod.

Barclay? Nice backup.

I'd like Joeckel at LT and Bulaga at RT.

Still, it's our defense that NEEDS the upgrade so perhaps the Sharif is the guy?
I still think a great ILB would help our team than any other position.

I suppose this is all a matter of where you think our team needs the most help.

In my opinion, I think the single biggest difference maker for us would be Dion Jordan at LOLB opposite CM3. That puts two monster pass rushers in play that force passes to good, but not great, corners in Tramon and Sam. That's a lot of rushed passes or balls thrown up deep just to not get hit, and it allows our base package (which we're only in about 40-50% of the time anymore) to be really tough to scheme for- it means we're getting pressure out of a front 7 where you can line it up stock and not leave anyone guessing and STILL create chaos, OR you have the layers and layers of looks that Capers has in his back pocket that we haven't seen much of since the SB run that we can unpack and unleash.

My biggest disappointment with our D is how predictable we've been the past two years. We stopped moving CM3 around. We blitzed Woodson exclusive out of the slot on hot read throws we got burned on. We played straight nickel with nothing out of the ordinary happening in the front 6- rush 4 and hope you get there mostly, or blitz Bishop up the middle. To me it reminded me of the last season or two in the Bates' scheme- we had good players, but everyone had watched the tape and knew how to take advantage of our obvious scheme and gameplanning.

I think a talent like Jordan opposite CM3 makes a lot of other holes less noticeable and allows Capers to get guys playing to strengths within the scheme. He'll be gone quick, and I know Nick Perry is on the roster and has the chance to move forward. I just see Jordan as an Aldon Smith type talent in a 34 scheme.

Star is my #1 in this draft, but I doubt our med team clears him. I don't think Joeckel is special, he'll never get any better than he is now, so I go Fisher. Not quite as polished or safe as Joeckel, but much higher ceiling.

Floyd is the next guy up

Jordan is a ROLB prospect to me, so he's out.

After that Vacarro.

Getting a top quality OLB opposite Matthews would make the biggest difference, but I tend to agree with Frank - Perry is that guy if he is healthy. Drafting an OLB would indicate that the staff thinks he isn't and won't be anytime soon. So my choice would be the best 3-4 D Lineman available. I'm honestly not up on prospects enough to know who that is at the top end of the draft. Bringing this down to earth, the reality of what we could get where the Packers actually draft, I'd like to see Jesse Williams or secondarily that UCLA DE.

My pick of Fisher was for the same reason. Either guy gives you a solid LT for years. I don't think it's the Packers greatest need but once you have your QB/Bookend tackles then it's just pieces in a floating puzzle.
Floyd would be my next pick after either tackle and I believe Vacarro is a can't miss so if you couldn't have those other guys he's a choice. But given where we are and what's available and I have one pick it's Fisher.

Fits the profile. Ted likes taking college LTs in the mid-rounds, then moving them inside. At the least we need a backup center. By the way, this discussion is in the wrong thread.

LMAO with the discussion not belonging in this thread. I could create one for every instance like some. ;) You do notice the varied and unrelated topics that come to discussion in a thread don't you?

I'd hate to see a potentially worthwhile discussion about a prospect buried in a pointless thread.

There's a whole area with multiple threads devoted to the draft...see top of forums main page.

I did post the thread were you suggested. I wasn't aware of that area. Thanks. I stay on this forum and rarely if ever visit others. Yes, the pointless threads abound. Good one there! :roflmao:

Eric Fisher was average at run blocking in the MAC conference. He wasnt able to dominate 260 pound defensive linemen. He looks great with his shirt off, and has athleticism, but lacks the leg strength and core to be able to move NFL defensive linemen. I really dont see him as anything more than late first, early second round pick even though he will probably go top ten.

Packers need a mauler somewhere on the OL. They dont have a single one on their roster. Chad Clifton was very slow his last year with the Pack, but at least he could still maul better than any of the other guys we had. Thats is why our running game is terrible. Our guys lack the strength necessary to move other guys out of the way consistantly. They are all pass blocking specialist. Without a running game to control the clock, the defense takes too many snaps, gets tired, and is unable to pass rush effectively.

I would MUCH rather draft DJ Fluker over Joeckel, and especially the unproven Eric Fisher. Fisher is too tall, short arms, and weak legs. Not the kind of guy I want, even though he has potential. Fluker is the guy with potential. 37 inch arms, legs like tree trunks, and the widest shoulders and chest you will ever see on a linemen. Pack needs to stop drafting overacheiving, short armed, weak legged white guys at OL. Only guy they have who has talent is Josh Sitton, and even he is overrated because his QB is Aaron Rodgers. Bulaga was never anything more than average. You will see it again this year. His arms are too short.

Packers need to draft someone who can dominate in the run game, or we will have the same results as last year, a soft team that looks great against weak opponents, but gets whooped when they go up against real competition.

If I could have any player in the draft it would be the best 3-4 DE or the best pass rushing DL. (I don’t see LOLB as a big need because of Perry.) Either that or the most "tradable" player so the Packers could get more picks in the first couple of rounds.

I disagree the Packers don’t have a mauler on the OL: IMO Sitton fits that description – as I’ve posted before Suh has named him as his toughest opponent. Suh is a bit of an **** but he is physically talented. But of course just one mauler doesn’t get it done. I was hoping Sitton could team with Bulaga and a TE to give them a consistent push in the running game on the right side but it hasn’t happened yet. BTW, EDS may be better in the run than Wells.

Anyway, the D is still in more need than the O IMO so DL is a bigger need than LT. So I’d go DL unless a LT was on a higher talent tier than any 3-4 DL. Getting more pressure on the QB could make the Packers’ young D backfield look very, very good. BTW, perhaps 13 Times Champs was saying he’s hoping Thompson trades the top three or four picks away for a vet and then takes Quessenberry? J/K!

If I could choose any player in this draft, that would imply I have the #1 pick.

In that case, I would trade down and/or into 2014.

If a pig had wings he might be able to fly, but there's no guarantee.

Fluker is RT only because of his skillset, Not sure I can ever take you seriously ever again, If his arms are too short to RT then why would you switch him to LT? Part of why Bulaga's a RT is that his arms weren't long enough.

Fisher or Star L-etc. If we can get a franchise LT, we should. If we see a dlineman who will dominate for years, we should. Whoever the coaches think is the surest bet.
