Anyone remember when they got Cunningham from the Eagles. Difference is, Cunningham actually did pretty good there.

Really? Unlike Wisconsin we have other sports teams tha actually do win. Don't give me that fairweather crap. I know plenty of fairweather Packer fans. I remember your stadium emptying about 6 years ago on Monday night at halftime and the 3rd quarter. Hell I got a Packer buddy who still thinks your head coach is Linde Infante.

I won't lie....Packer fans are more loyal. Reason being...is there are more of them and they have been around longer. That's the only reason.

Why do some people on here act like the Vikings are the only organization with bandwagon fans? Every good team has bandwagon fans, and I actually don't know a single bandwagon viking fan personally.

Vikings fans are used to disappointment, but rubbing it in our faces that our team has never won a super bowl doesn't affect a lot of us for two reasons:

    1. It's over used. I've never in my life gotten in a face to face debate with a packer fan that hasn't brought up the fact that we have never won a SB. BFD. That doesn't help you now. It's great to have a history but when people are talking about the current teams, a super bowl in 96 doesn't have a place in the discussion.

    2. As I mentioned above, it doesn't help you now. I don't care if you have 50 SB if you can't win this year. After we beat the Packers in lamblow last year, some idiot Packer fan said "who cares, you never won a super bowl". It's pathetic.

LOL, if it were the Packers that never won a SB, I am willing to bet you and a majority of Viking fans would do the same..

    Its just natural...

It will NEVER stop until the Vikings have more SB wins than the Pack..

    So yeah....Deal with it

    1. Actually they have, just no one counts it. Not even Viking fans.
    4. I hate the fact that they play inside. As do many Viking fans.

This could be said of any team.

I see very few Viking fans that claim to hate the Packers. Not as many as Packer fans that claim to hate the Vikings.

Here's the thing. I can pretty much tell the education level of fans from any team by how they write post's and respond to fans of other teams. Many Packer fans on these board were not around for the 60's much less the glorious days of the 70's when the Packer were, well, losing on a regular basis. Since some of us are older, we remember watching players like Starr and Tarkenton sling it out, these fans seem to have more respect for fans of other teams. See, they have seen their team suck and knows what it's like to wonder when they might make it to the big game again. Now as Viking fans we are still waiting for our first win. So be it. I respect the Packers 12(14) Championships, and don't care if you rub it in. I have been hearing it for 30 plus years.

Kitten is right, there are bad fans and bandwagon fans of every team. The real test is when they are losing do you still watch them. And then we get to the sold out Stadium theory. One of the reason the Packers are sold out every game has to do with the fact that they have never changed their season ticket policy. Some season ticket holder Packer fans can tell you that the seats around them have different people in them every game. I know of one family that has 8 season tickets and not a single family member has been to a game in 5 years. You see, they sell them. How do I know they don't go to the games? Because they live in FL on my block. Their tickets were handed down from Grandpa. Matter of fact about half of them are Dolphin fans. So the sellouts are just not always for why you think. But hey, it's works for the Packers, more power to them. It only holds up real Packer fans from acquiring the season tickets they so desperately want.

As to why I come here? I like talking football with people who want to talk football. I actually belong to 4 Packers site, a Dolphin, Niner, Chief, Seahawk and 2 Viking forums. The Packer and Viking forums of course are the ones I visit the most. I hate trolls, even Vikings troll who only come to talk crap. And I usually ignore people who can't have reasonable discussions without calling people or teams stupid names.

Derps the only Minnesota sports team that has ever won anything is the Twins.. The North Stars had to leave before coming to championship fame, as well as the Lakers left, and soon to be Vikings leaving.. Maybe the Vikes too will win a ring with a change of scenery

So I guess my main thing was, how do your sports teams actually win? As far as I can remember, the Twins got as far in the post season this year as the Brewers did with the CC stint. The Vikings have a worse record (right now) and the Bucks are leagues ahead of the Timberwolves... Need I say anything about the Gophers? or are they scrimmaging a JV football team right now to boost ego's.. (if you forgot, the Badgers just beat the #1 team in the country on Saturday) Brewers were terrible this year, but all the Twins got was 3 more stompings in the post season than the crew.. So this 'winning' thing is a mystery to me..

Past championships is what Derps meant. Much like Packer fans....always talking about past championships.

The Twins, Gophers, Hockey, Lakers (when they were here). Hell even the Vikings have an NFL championship.

I see by your post's that you are one of the "younger" Packer fans. Most likely, from when Favre started or after. How can I tell? by you raggin on someone about wining teams. The Lakers had 5 championships from 1947-1959 while in MN before moving to Los Angeles. To this day there are people who have no clue as to why they are called the Lakers.

Now on to some Packer history. While winning 11(13) Championships prior to the merger in 1970 the Packers went on a horrific skid in the 70's and 80's. How bad was it, (Beside for Devines dog), the Packers record from 1970-1991 the year before Favre, the Packers went, 132-188-8. For a fantastic .402 winning record. Since 1992 they have turned it around to 181-113-0 for a .616 record. So when talking about winning teams be sure to remember that your team had some down times in there as well. In that low time for the Packers them made it to the playoffs exactly twice. So while the Packers may have been a top dog when there were only 14-16 teams in the league they found it hard to compete after expansion. There are many reasons for this, the main ones being that players didn't want to play in a small city, and the fact that revenue sharing had not really kicked in like it has now.

Now to put that into perspective the Vikings in the same time frame went 190-136-2 .579, from 70 to 91 and 167-126-0 .570, from 92 to present. Of course they went to 3 Super Bowls since the merger losing all three. So, how much difference is there between the teams for 1970 on, not much. The Packers have managed to win one Super bowl in that time frame, while going to a second. I'm not discrediting the previous championships by the Packers, (Although no one respects the Vikings one), matter of fact I think they claim two to few. But that's just me.

Ok, let me summarize this thread:

In between the smack talk (which included an analysis of education levels in our states, a comparison of driving capabilities, a couple history lessons dating back to Rome, the color purple and it's regal relevance or not, several overviews of other non-football organizations and their relative histories, the re-appearance of MNVIKES who earlier said he wouldn't post until after the next game (hehe, can't stay away can you? Admit it... you love us), the Brett Favre topic, Jeffrey Dahmer, a discussion on who is taking who's jobs, and a really big picture of a Packer seemingly giving a Bears player the backdoor business (that had to leave a mark!)), there was actual good stuff that attempted the answer my question.

Kudos to incubes, MNVIKES, Raptorman, among others for giving solid insightful answers. Too bad your excellent feedback was lost in the noise of the smack talk.

There are vikings fans who love favre, favre fans who "love" the vikings, vikings fans who just put up with favre even though they don't like him, and vikings fans who hate Favre.

I fall into the first category I listed. I love the vikings more than any one player, but watching Favre last year was the most fun I've ever had as a viking fan. I personally think that you can't call yourself a viking fan unless you cheer for favre. Whether you like him or not, he is the starting QB for the Vikings, therefore I cheer for him. I cheer for the front of the jersey first, and the back of the jersey second.

And that's what makes a true fan...of a team at least. Now if only we could get this point across to EVERY person we come across who asks us Pack fans how we feel about the BF situation.

I'm almost amazed at how Queens fans seem to think there's something wrong with Packers fans that used to like Bretty, but dislike him so strongly now. Have I got news for you. It's not just Packers fans; it's fans everywhere, except for Minnesota. Bretty is utterly reviled everywhere except Minnesota. Even his ESPN nut-huggers have turned on him.

You know what they say: "If you think everyone else in the world is crazy... it's you."

When I saw the title of this thread I knew it was destined for the Smack shack. There are to many people who can't discuss stuff like this in a reasonable many. Point is, people who really want to know may sift through the crap to find the cream of the thread.
