    Board,

Each week, there are a few new members that join and post once or twice supporting the team that the Packers happen to be playing. It's all in good fun and it's great to see these folks drop in and either talk smack or support their team for a day or two. Either way, these members disappear shortly after the game ends-- as one would expect.

However, there are quite a few non-Packer-fan members that deviate from this normal routine. And as we all know, nearly all of the members of this special group call themselves Viking fans.

These members remain fairly active on this board ALL season long and year after year. Sure, they post more often when their team wins and less often when they lose, but they persist never-the-less. They ultimately all come to the same conclusion, which is something like: We are all stupid Packer fans from Wisconsin and we just need to grow a brain. Yet, they don't go away.

It's not that I want them to go away. I love to see good debate and other view points. But, why do they bother at all? I certainly don't give a rats arse what they are saying on their team board, so I cannot imagine why they would care about this board.

And the answer is NOT that they are simple trolls. If that was the case, we would see other long-term members that represent other teams such as Chicago, Dallas, etc. It's only Minnesota fans that come here to stay.

I would like to see thoughtful responses, which might be a challenge for us brain-less Wisconsites, from both sides.

That would probably be due to the fact that deep deep down they really wish that they could have 12 World Titles.. or at the least one super bowl. ;)

Here is a partial list of some of the problems at I have with those people from Minnesota:

    1. They have NEVER won anything,.

    2. They constantly choke when it matters.

    3. They have all of those pro bowlers, and other teams should be running home and be hiding under their beds, but they constantly win games because of a fluke play, a timely penalty, or just plain luck.

    4. They play inside, for Christ's sake.

    5. Their fans are the biggest pain in the asses that I know of. I can tolerate the Bear fans, and to some extent
Cowboy fans, but it's those idiots in purple that I have no respect for.

    6. You can always spot a Queenie fan, most of them are in wheelchairs or on crutches from constantly jumping off the band wagon.

It was sorta nice around here with them losing, you could have heard a wren fart from their cheering section, but now that they beat a 1-4 team (at home, no less) they are right back at it again. BTW, do they play 12 games at home, or play anybody that is any good on the road, ever?

This is just a guess, but I think some of them are former Packer fans who followed #4 to Minnesota and don't want to see the Packers succeed. Then there are those who just like to rub it in that #4 is now a Viking. Some may even be Packer fans who are so ticked off at TT & MM for the supposed bad treatment of #4 that they masquerade as Viking fans (or secretly wear Green and Gold on the outside and root purple on the inside.)

There's different versions. I deviate them as this:

V1.0: These are actual Viking fans that are used to disappointment, and kind of mature. They respect the Packers, but hate the Packers. Similar to Bears fans, but without the taste of victory

V2.0: These are the next generation fans that are Viking fans because either they daddy was a viking fan or because AP made them good. These guys have confidence that the Vikings are serious contenders and hate the Packers.

I can respect both V1.0 and 2.0, because they like the vikings for the vikings. These are the guys that actually have good opinions and can carry a meaningful debate.

V3.0: These are Favre fans. I hate them.

Your post made me think a little further. They could also be Viking fans who don't see either Chicago or Detroit as a real threat to compete for the division, so they come over to chat with their strongest competitor.

    ^^^This

I enjoy good, intellectual argument and debate. I am drawn into people who are passionate for their team and this sport no matter whose colors they wear (green and gold preferred of course)! As long as they are not being a butthead about it, I don't mind them. This board, mods and admins are pretty good about getting rid of known trolls but at least they give them a chance to make sure they are really a troll before sacking them. I don't fancy Viking fans very much in general, I find them rude and ignorant, but they think worse things of us. I enjoy a good rivalry between two teams, it gets my blood hot and makes me want to fight for my team.

There are some real sweet Bears fans on here that post occasionally as well as a Skins fan or two. It's all about how you conduct yourself when you are posting on another teams board and how you want to be perceived. If you are going there to troll, to intentionally get under peoples skin, that's one thing. But if you are going there to have an honest debate with them and you conduct yourself with respect for that other team and its fans, then I'd welcome you with open paws. Just be prepared to take it if somebody argues back. It makes me madder then hell when they provokes an argument, but when somebody argues back, they fail to produce their sword. Meaning they turn tail and run and hide in their hole. Fight back!

    No Kitty! ^This.

Viking fans are prevalent right now because our two teams were competing for the NFC North last season and were supposed to again this season. I think everyone's a little shocked the Bears are on top.

Derps is right, every team has their trolls, I'd like to think the majority of us on this one are chill and open minded. I also believe that when someone comes into an opposing teams message boards it is more likely that they misconstrue the topic of the day for our attitude. Come in after the Packers win against the Vikings? we'd be talking a storm. Come in after the Bucs game last year? We all on suicide watch. They don't go back 3-4 pages to see last weeks topics.

I'm not saying all Packer fans are Saints. I'm certainly not, I may look like an angel but I'm the devil is disguise. Every team has their fair share of rouges. Have you had the pleasure of meeting any Eagles fans? You wouldn't forget it of you did. Packers and Vikings are at each others throats more because it's a division rival, one of the most intense I've seen. Expecting us to like each other is sometimes too much to ask. I'm sorry about the experience you are having on those boards, but people are gonna be doing that, you can't expect them not to. We can't really complain about having Vikings fans in here, I would expect no less. Represent for your team, but do note that some people reflect your actions as a fan directly on your team.

Oh and bragging about 9 Packer world championships back when there were 4 teams in the league and they wore leather helmets accomplishes nothing. None of you were alive when they won in the 60's. Most of you here were sucking thumbs when they won it in 96.

Why don't I just brag about my Twins. At least they have titles. The Brewers are the most miserable existance in baseball history. 1 world series appearance? Really? Then we can compare Gopher football championships (6 for Minnesota) to Badger (O for Wisconsin) championships....this is fun!!! <<<<
These are the tactics of a loser.

I can go on and on...don't fall into that trap of talking about superbowl wins. The Vikings have lost 4...and really should have only won that 1st one against the Chiefs. We haven't been around as long as your team. I'm sure we will get 1. It's just not our time. All of those players that lost those superbowls are now in the hall of fame. Matter of fact...for a team with a shorter existance we have a great reprensentation in Canton.

The other thing....I don't get how Packer fans are upset with Viking fans cheering for Favre. When I came to this sit in 2004 it was a CRIME to say anything negative about Favre. Now "he's overrated" "he sucks" "I hate him"....Remember when Moss was gonna become a Packer? Do some of you old guard remember how excited this board was till TT shot it down? So don't talk about hypocrisy...your fanbase is right in the mix.

    Few reasons actually...

    1. Packers in my generation are the Vikings biggest nemesis.
    2. I am often board while not at work, and I like blogging a bit.
    3. I enjoy hearing Packer fans cry and bitch about Favre this and Favre that.
    4. I like to play devils advocate and debate (obviously)
    5. I am still pissed off at all the Cheesheads who drive over the border into Saint Paul and take Minnesotan's jobs while paying WI taxes, it eats up allot of resources that Minnesotan's could be utilizing while paying their own state taxes, that and I deal with numerous cheesehead drivers on the home from work everyday (border of Hudson/Lakeland/Woodbury).
    6. There is more but this is enough....

Hell, you sure have some feminine characteristics talking about the color of jerseys, who cares what color the jerseys are? Do you root for the packers because they wear piss yellow and **** green? Nope. Why would any fan root for ANY team simply because of their jersey color, except for maybe some clueless woman who is materialistic. Get over yourself and stop using gigantic words, I think people get your mute points without having to use "one million" size text.

Your right History isn't important. In fact, its so dang useless we should stop teaching it at schools! The championships were a while ago, i agree, but to say they don't mean anything is like saying Rome was a joke, the Moon landing is irrelevant, World War I and II had no impact on today. Call me educated, but History is History. The NFL would be nothing without those years.

Thats the thing! YOU CAN!! let it rip Derps feel the taste of victory for a change! I'm from NY, so I'll put my Yanks (even tho they lost last game) up to your Twins... but atleast my Syracuse football team sucks! Sports are about cheering for your team when they do good, stop making it any more than that.

The queens will win one, its only a matter of time, but until they do you have to live with people taking shots at the weakspot. I do MMA, and if you are a good striker I'll take you to the mat, and vice versa... its just natural.

Nobody cares if Vikings fans cheer for Favre, its "Packer" fans that pretend to be Packer fans that root for Favre to win against the Packers and then say we aren't real Packer fans for hating Favre. We don't hate him because of 2007, we hate him because he PLAYS FOR THE VIKINGS. we HATE the vikings. its really a simple concept. I like to pretend everyone has some intelligence, and try to have conversations with that assumption, but omg... is it really hard to see why we hate him? I hate Cutler too, not only because he pouts and cries, but because... YEP! he Plays for the BEARS! Jared Allen is actually quite funny, and probably a fun guy to hang out with... but I hate him cause... HE PLAYS FOR THE VIKINGS. its quite simple.

If the Vikings had 12 titles under their belt, they'd be bragging their asses off and they'd have every right to. It's something to be proud of, the history of your teams successes. When or if the Vikings ever win one, I would not mind a bit if you bragged, why the hell wouldn't you.

Im from right on that same border, and you mud ducks are much worse drivers than us cheeseheads....No Joke.

That being said, everybody cheers for their team.. I loved Favre when he was here, and I still love the guy for all he did for us.. We moved on, so did he.. I root against him with everything I have now, but once he finally goes away, will be a Favre fan again.. The football player that is Brett Favre is simply incredible, and no matter what off field issues he has had throughout his career I don't care about.

Every fan is going to root for their team and talk smack about the team they hate the most, its just the way it works.. Fans from both teams are very immature at times and thats just the way it goes.. Every fan talks more when their team wins rather than when they lose, it just makes sense..
