I'm in the San Francisco area.

From experience, some gays are very sensitive. Some gays love jokes and joking.

It's a case on case basis. Saying you can't do something is ludicrous. If they're your friends, you know them. You know how far you can go and how far would be offensive.

The thing you have to remember - if you can dish it out, you have to be able to take it. I'm sure PackOne's friends are cool with it. They seem like cool people, the type of gays I'd hang with. I don't like sensitive anyone, and that goes for any sexual orientation, race, religion, color, class, or whatever. I like people with senses of humor.

Packone lives in Wisconsin. I assume Zeus lives in Minnesota. that's as close to apples-apples as you're gonna get.

I have told my gay friends on many occasions that I'm actually envious of them. The reason is straight guys aren't allowed to show too much emotion. You know this. I know this. And it sucks. it's true, we cannot show too much emotion, but women and gay men can.

I also cannot give a woman a compliment. It's sexual harassment. Gay men can. They know this. You know this.

But alas, they also know that we have HUGE advantages as well. We don't have to tell our parents we're straight. We don't have to come out to anyone. We don't worry about being physically bashed for being straight.

So there are advantages to both. We all know this. We accept it. And we joke about it.

I like people who joke. I don't like people who get butt hurt about EVERYTHING. Heck, I'm not white. I used to be the butt of jokes all the time about my skin color. I don't care, as long as we all know it's HUMOR. If it's HATE, then there's a problem, and then I'm going to be pissed.

It's all context. If we're all friends, anything goes. If I don't know you, I won't joke with you until I find out that you're a funny man or woman. Then I'll joke. If you're sensitive, I'll be sensitive too and I'll watch what I'm saying.

So it's all context.

Only one thing I see getting buried in the sand is ... this argument. Your hole is pretty deep right now, just chuck the dirt on top and take one in the L column.

EDIT: Just for the record if you want signed documentation from ten plus gay guys that will reiterate my point clearly for you, I certainly can provide that.
