Well, it's about to start again! And not much has changed. Packers and Patriots are again the preseason buzz teams for the Superbowl. Giants getting some respect but not being picked by anyone. No way to predict with any certainty which way this season will go: 1. Packers defense was truly mediocre last year, particularly in the crunch. While many of you blamed the offense for the debacle agaainst the Giants, your defense was close to horrendous in that game. Look at that Nicks TD at the end of the half -- following Bradshaw's first down that put Eli into TD country. That was INEXCUSABLE and evidenced just how weak your defense was. If your defense doesn't make signficant progress, you may sneak into the playoffs but you'll likely again get torched. I haven't a clue as to whether the changes you made on defense will make a difference -- you better hope they do! 2. Packer offense is superior -- question is whether defensive coordinators have figured out better ways to stop you, and whether your running game improves. My gut is that without a better running game, your offense will not be as impressive as last year. 3. Giants defense looks improved -- D Line is healthy, will run amok against many teams (watch Romo bitch and moan tonight!) LB is improved (Rivers is a good addition), DB is again thin, but same was true last year. Watch this kid Hosley -- may have been a steal in the 3d round. If the Giant starters stay on the field, this is going to be a top 5 defense. 4. Giant offense also looks improved -- watch out for David Wilson, the RB form Virginia Tech, to make a name for himself this season. Also expect the Giant return game on punts and KO to be explosive for the first time in a decade. And Ruben Randle better be as good as Manningham was -- without Manningham, Nicks or Cruz (any one), we don't make the playoffs last year. Best of luck! PSR
I thought the Giants defensive line was incredibly banged up, especially at DT? I remember reading about that recently on PFT. Is that not the case?
No offense, but until the middle of November, I don't really care what is happening with the Giants. They're old news.
"1. Packers defense was truly mediocre last year, particularly in the crunch. " I would've went with "inpet", "clowns", "awful" ... our defense last year was just.... smh.
Historically, we play the Giants better in their place than we do at Lambeau. At least in the last 20 years or so. Even though the GMen may be better I think the real challenge comes in the NFC East. 1 play last season by the Cowboys and we would not have had to even face the Giants. The Skins and Eagles are obviously better this year. So other than that December face off that could be all for 2012. Recall in 2010 that punt return in the Eagle game is what kept the Giants out of the playoffs.
Isn't it ironic that every fan says their team is improved and others have done little to improve. (and yes I know Packers fans do the same) I don't think the Packers will go 15-1 again but I think 12-13 wins seems pretty realistic. I'll comment on playoff run chances later in the year.
Ackkkk Just proves how the 1st game smack is plain stupid makes you look foolish when your team losses
Hopefully your silly "know it all" act will end this year just like the Giants lucky streak of victories last season.
Giants look pretty freaking mediocre to me last night, I wonder how many forums you spread your Giants-love-juice all over the internet. Enjoy your quest for 9 wins, peace Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Was going to ask you to reopen this, good call Destroyed by the cowboys, they went prevent defense on you the last 4 minutes giving you a TD. But make no mistake, they owned you.
You could probably move it to the "smack" area if you wanted to. That's what the OP originally read like.
As others have opined, I won't really care about the New Jersey Giants until sometime in November, when we come and kick the **** out of you.
on #1: yes, the packer defense was pretty awful. On #2: Cedric Benson should give the Packers a better run attack this year. On #3: The Packers defense was majorly upgraded this year. If that gets them to just average, considering how bad they were, Pack is a legit SB contender. On #4: Same is true of the Pack. Their off didn't get any worse and probably got better with the addition of Benson, the development of Marshall Newhouse and Randall Cobb. Last word: Packer offense may not be exactly like last year, but don't be surprised if they are. Benson at RB, a better OL than last year's patchwork. Maybe Rodgers won't throw for 45, and 6, but I'd bet money against anyone who doesn't think that he'll be one of the top 3 QBs in the league again, if not the top QB. IMO I think the numbers for all QBs will be a little down this year as defenses come up with better scheme against last year's firewworks. Good luck to your Giants, just not that much luck.
Yeah, the Giants definitely played like the 9-7 team they truly are last night. I think they are better than they played, but overall they are an average to above average team that has a tendency to get hot at the perfect time. Not a great team that plays bad sometimes.
Sun. Nov 25th prime time(not Deion Sanders)Packers vs NYGs at MetLife Stadium. Will be a good game. 31-17 Packers
The game was not as close as the score would lead one to think. Dallaa Cowboys dominated us last night. They exploited our weak offensive line as well as our weak secondary. We did nothing to improve those two areas in the off season. Dallas Cowboys also took a page out of our book and that was to keep the ball out of Eli Mannings hands. Tony Romo looked good and made the big plays when he had to. Dallas Cowboys won because they were the better team the other night. This loss may actually been for the best to get the SuperBowl hangover knocked out of some of the players heads. Couch Coughlin will have some hard practices dor the guys and Eli Manning will straighten out the guys on their mistakes and he will correct his own, it is what he does because he is The Best QB in NFC. We will be fine and take care of business against Tampa Bay Bucaneers and we will beat Dallas Cowboys next time we play them.
Eli Manning already stated that we need to play better. Dallas Cowboys were the better team the other night and they deserved to win. You won't find Eli Manning doing this- http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/07/matthews-says-giants-didnt-beat-packers/
