    ESPN:

Bears quarterback Rex Grossman says he learned an important lesson by not giving it "100 percent" while preparing for Chicago's regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday.

    The lesson?

"In this league, especially at this position, you have to bring it every single week, no matter what," Grossman told the Chicago Sun-Times for Thursday's editions. "And the situation was I felt like I was going to play about a half, and it was the last game, it was New Year's Eve -- there were so many other factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important, and that's something that I am never going to do again.

"There is too much I am responsible for to not give it 100 percent during the week and just the full attention," Grossman said. "It's another lesson."

In the grand scheme of things, the game meant little -- at least to the Bears, who'd already clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

Grossman, whose inconsistent play during a 13-3 season has fueled talk that Brian Griese should be taking more snaps, delivered a dreadful performance. He was 2-for-12 passing for 33 yards with three interceptions -- two returned for touchdowns -- and a lost fumble in the 26-7 defeat.

"The next couple of days, I may think about it more," Grossman told the Sun-Times. "But there's going to come a time where I am going to completely forget about it and move on. It was a meaningless game. I won't dwell on it too much. I definitely want to learn from it.

"You're going to see a focused and intense quarterback."

Offensive coordinator Ron Turner said the team's preparation -- not just Grossman's -- showed against the Packers.

"[Grossman's] still a young player," Turner told the newspaper, "and he's still learning the intensity and the preparation and everything that goes along with it and that you have to have that every week. But he wasn't the only one who didn't play well."

    ----------------------------------------------------

I dont know which is funnier

    1. Grossman thinks people will buy that "I wasn't prepared, I was distracted by New Years!" **** even though that doesn't explain his other weeks of ****** play...maybe he was distracted by christmas...and ...thanksgiving...and...gas prices...

    OR

    2. Maybe he didn't focus, cuz the game was meaningless and it was the 7-8 Packers(and oh yeah, New Years! lol). That would piss me off beyond belief if I was a teammate or coach. It is the NFL, he is already on the hotseat, and he is making Lovie Smiths life a living hell dealing with questions and brian vs. rex at QB all the damn time.

    Either way the Bears have

    1. A liar

    or

    2. A mentally weak immature player

(and this kinda pisses me off, cuz I was somewhat of a grossman supporter in the brian vs. grossman debates this season with my chicago friends)

Have fun losing the first team you play, bears.

Thats pretty funny. And some people were comparing this guy to Brett Favre. Brett Favre has never once made an excuse about anything.

Favre doesn’t need to make excuses for himself, he has all of you dorks with couch foam cheese on your heads to do that for him

No, a dork is one who chooses not to prepare for his Job. Pay the guy millions and then have him admit he took it easy???? That would be the end of Grossy if I were the coach.

Bear fans should be nervous...VERY nervous!

If it wasnt for me posting the history of the cheesehead you would have never knew it came from couch cushions..

A Bears fan gave the Packer fan the idea to make millions of dollars on the cheeseheads, and all you guys can do is whine about it..

Seems like I have heard the old "receiver ran the wrong route" about once or 20 times.

So what about all those other games this year when he stunk?? Did he not try in those games either?? What about right before the Detroit game when he said he always prepares for a game with the mindsight of playing the entire game, and always giving it 100%. Keep defending him, and keep taking shots at Favre Bears fans. Favre has OWNED you guys the last 14 years.

Your going to tell me not one other q/b in the history of the game had a wr run the wrong route, and it led to an int?

Absolutely not. And I am sure the vast majority of the time, that the receiver did run the wrong route. However, "Brett Favre has never once made an excuse about anything" is wrong. Actually, since you called yourself out in the other thread, I will call myself out. I was being a little "lawyerish" in my comment. Rex saying that is no comparision to brett saying that the receiver was wrong. There, even.

Boo hoo. Rex sucks, Griese is a *****, and Favre owns the Bears. You Bears fans amaze me with your obsession with another team's player. Go back to your cave, and wait for the crash of another 1st-game playoff collapse.

Brett has said on many occasions he made a mistake, or he played bad...its just that people only hear what they want to hear..

Yup...its true....we worry that Favre is going to retire. Maybe its because he's one of the all time best QB's. You wouldn't understand of course, cause the Bears never had one.
Putting your money on Rex? I bet not! Brag while you can, cause after next week, your team will be watching the playoffs from their couches too.
Oh......and old man Favre is 22-8 against your mighty Bears! I can SEE why you are hoping he quits!

I enjoyed watching the Bears get the a$$ handed to them in the playoffs last year and I am looking forward to getting to see it happen again this year.

Congratulations on going 12-20 over the last 2 seasons while those sorry *** Bears went 24-8.
I can see why you are so happy.

And which team do you see being the better team next year even if grandpa does come back for one more cry?

    Sorry thimble dick.
It is his original comment that is the cluster so you may actually want to read more than one post before running at the mouth.
Quote his post and see if it comes off as any different for you Mr. Quote monitor.

Better be careful Trom or you just may come across as an *******.

Do you think that Favre learned his lesson about giving 100% after that Michael Strahan sack fiasco?
When Grossman purposely lays down for an opposing player or team so they can set or break a record then you can come back and talk crap.

    Poor lil Trom.
Always changes the subject when he has been caught rambling again.

By the way, I seem to remember Lord Favre saying that he would decide if he was going to retire within the next two weeks.
    That was two weeks ago.

Now it is the Super Bowl... then Easter.... then just before camp starts....

You can get your off season Favre fix right
