I quoted a line from the movie "Unforgiven" a few times recently and each time nobody knew the quote. A couple of the people had never seen the movie - which is a tragedy. I think its the best western of all time. I don't think you can watch that movie and ever watch another western the same way. I even did my best Eastwood impersonation and they still didn't get it.

    To set this up:

Schofield kid is young and was bragging he killed 5 guys to Will Munny (Clint Eastwood), an old gunfighter. When he does kill someone he starts crying and admits its his first.

Will Munny: Well, you sure killed the hell outta that fella today.
    . . .
The Schofield Kid: It don't seem real... how he ain't gonna never breathe again, ever... how he's dead. And the other one too. All on account of pulling a trigger.
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.
What quotes stick in your mind that have that have gone unnoticed?

Miracle on 34th Street. I mentioned it here once before I think.

Setup: the mom and toy dept manager are walking to the elevator after having just left a meeting with Macy where he explained that recommending shoppers go to other stores was a great idea. She had just fired Kris before she went to the meeting and now had to get him back. They were worried about him going postal.
Manager: Maybe he's just a little crazy, like a poet, or an artist, or like those fellows down in Washington

    And still won't be quoted.

Thought I would see more responses. At a Christmas party a guy told me all Wisconsin people were great a quoting movies - in his experience. Was he wrong?

Alright I'm kind Of a movie buff. I will nOt only give u a create quote but also the best movie for the 2000-2009 decade.... "The Departed" was by far the best movie of the decade by far. One Of my favorite quotes is from jack nickelson. He plays a pretty nasty mob boss bite the quote is bad ***.

"in school they tell us that you can be a cop or a robber. What I'm saying to u is that when your facing a loaded gun... What's the difference?"

All taken from the same film .....

Yes, London. You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary ******* Poppins... LONDON.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Great movie. My top 3 from that decade? "Oh Brother", "In Bruges" and "No Country for Old Men".

    Speaking of Oh Brother:

Delmar O'Donnell: You work for the railroad, Grampa?
Blind Seer: I work for no man.
Delmar O'Donnell: Got a name, do you?
Blind Seer: I have no name.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Well, that right there may be the reason you've had difficulty findin' gainful employment. You see, in the mart of competitive commerce...

Ulysses Everett McGill: Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Pete: Well hell, it ain't square one! Ain't nobody gonna pick up three filthy, unshaved hitch-hikers, and one of them a know-it-all that can't keep his trap shut.
Ulysses Everett McGill: Pete, the personal rancor reflected in that remark I don't intend to dignify with comment. But I would like to address your general attitude of hopeless negativism. Consider the lilies of the goddamn field or... hell! Take at look at Delmar here as your paradigm of hope.
Delmar O'Donnell: Yeah, look at me.

    "I hope you die!!

    .........That'll be today."

Of all lines from John Wayne, this one isn't ever referred from the film The Searchers, yet it's my favorite line.

    More great lines

Check the movie "Murder My Sweet" with Dick Powell and Claire Trevor. A great Film Noir addition to the Marlowe series, and one of the better adaptions that stay true to the novels. There's a lot of great dialogue in this movie, but my favorite has to be when Marlowe first starts narratating, this little bit that references the shadows of the streets where crime occurs.

"There's something about the dead silence
of an office building at night...
    Not quite real.
The traffic down below was something
that didn't have anything to do with me"

Many great lines in this film that you won't hear about, another one is that one about lighting a stick of dynamite and praying it don't go out (when references the dumb goon). I won't ruin the movie, for those that may end up watching it, if there are any classic film freaks on here like me.
