    Golf
    - No running. No jumping. No combine where a person's speed, size, strenght are measured, etc.
No defense whatsoever. And here are some photos of some "professional" golfers. Does that look like an athletic/sporty person right there?

    Auto Racing
-No running. No jumping. No athletic ability required at all. The driving is dependent 100% on the car and the pit crew getting the car right. We all drive cars, just not as fast.
They steer, shift, and press a gas pedal. I don't think that's much more ability than playing PS3 or Wii.

Which one would you classify as more of a NOT sport?

You are definitely right about tennis being a real sport.

I love golf, and tennis..... yet I am the one who doesn't know how I can justify calling golf a sport!
Even though it's about the only "sport" I still play at my age!

Wanted to hear someone else compare it with car driving.

golf is a sport. As far as Daley being out of shape, that is one guy. I cant think of plenty of NFL players who might look worse. Tausch always looked sloppy.

Racing requires lots of endurance. You don't see successful Nascar drivers out of shape.

I believe any sport where a winner can be declared by score or time(distance) without subjectivity should be considered a sport. I would consider bowling, golf, racing of any sort, etc. That doesn't require subjective opinions/scoring of a panel of judges as a legitimate sport. Any sport that requires a subjective panel to determine a winner is not a sport... Gymnastics, synchronized swimming, figure skating, etc. are contests of sorts but not a true sport because there is no objective measure for determining the winner.

    Great answer

People think of sports as having "athletes"

I think this thread is proving something to me...

If a person can't be looked at as an athlete, (John Daley) then how can golf be a sport??

Tauscher didn't smoke..... while performing this so-called "sport"!
Daly does, has.... so has Spencer Levine this year, Fuzzy Zoeller in the past.

It takes less athletic ability to play golf than it does Wii games. And again, there is no defense whatsoever. None.
You cannot touch, guard, cover, hit, even say anything to any other competitor. It's just the course and nature. Of course, that sport/game is mostly mental. Like chess.

Daly hasn't won anything in a very very long time. I'm not even sure he qualifies, just is a tour exemption for some tourneys.

Tiger is in pretty elite shape and has the 2nd most wins of all time. Daley is just golfs sideshow act
