    2006 Green Bay Packers 5 5 203 115 56.7 1275 6.28 75 7 5 76.7

    2006 Chicago Bears........6 6 189 107 56.6 1391 7.36 62 10 7 82.1

Well, after all the controversy, looks like at the moment, Favre and Grossman are pretty much in a dead heat. So, When we hear talk of Favre needing to hang it up, lets make sure we include Grossy too.

American media loves nothing more than to eat the icons they drooled over in the past. Brett's only fault is his excellence and longevity....now the media are bored, have nothing left to say, so they attack and create a whole season's worth of discussion.

By any measure, he is still a top 10 QB in this league...and if given comparable talent of some of today's flavors of the month...he could be top 5.

no I didn't. Records are a result of a team effort more than just one person. While they both have a large influence in it, I find it hard to compare that.

Put Manning in their spot and GB would have the same record....and so would Grossman

Yeah, but Brett has started in like 2000 consecutive games to reach this level and Grossman has only started like 10 games. :rotflmao:

Good point, but could Grossman achieve these number with the packers around him and him throwing while on his back?

He certainly couldn't do it with a bunch of Cardinals on his back.

Actually, I don't think that Brett has been under a ton of pressure this year.

Actually 4th you're right the protection has been a nice surprise. I actually think with Jennings emerging Brett should put up decent #'s unless another WR goes down. To me it's actually surprising how similar their games are, but I guess we'll wait to see how Grossman pans out as 6 games this year doesn't make him a star quit yet

Really, by any measurment you say?

That's funny, Favre has the 25th ranked QB rating in the league.

He's also 26th in completion percentage.

Thats because Favre has been playing in the shotgun, so he has more time.. :beersign:

Yes, Brett is 26th in Completion Percentage -- behind 3 QBs (Leinart, Harrington, and Gradkowski) who have not played enough to even have 100 attempts yet. AND right before Grossman (27th).

Brett is 25th in QB rating with a 76.7 while Grossman is 18th with a rating of 82.0. As the opening of the thread stated, not all that far apart. Definitely not far enough to say the Brett is finished yet Grossman is the next Jim McMahon.

I believe Tom Jackson says it best about Brett. "Greatness is what it is and needs no build up" Let's just wait for Rex to at least win 1 MVP before we have this discussion

"Cheese is the corpse of milk" I love that! Doesn't seem quit as tasty though. Oh I'm off topic cause we all agree there is no discussion on this topic?

So it has come to Packer fans comparing their Lord Favre to a QB who has only started in a handful of games in the NFL?

How come you are not comparing any other Packers to the Bears starters?

Maybe no other Bears are worth talking about.

Well I see your point Phil but I think the comparisons were brought up be the Bear fans how Favre was out and Rex was in. Of course we'll come in and defend Lord Favre

One forgets that most of grossmans stats are from the first half. A couple of games grossman didn't play much in the 4th quarter or the bears pretty much stopped passing the ball in the second half of games.

And a lot of Favres numbers were in the second half when we were behind and the whole world knew we had to pass.

Plus, in the first halves, the bears have been succesful in running the ball so it made it easier for Grossman to throw the ball.

Number are numbers...Lies don't figure and figures don't lie

Actually the bears running game has been bad. They did look better vs buffalo and seattle but it was the passing game that open up the running game not the running game opening up the passing game.

I don't think the packers have anybody on their team to talk about. What position do they have better than the bears right now?
