Brett Favre has thrown 18 passes so far in two preseason games in a Jets uniform. He doesn’t expect to throw any more until the games count for real.
Asked today whether he’ll play in the preseason finale Thursday at Philadelphia, Favre said it was up to coach Eric Mangini but added, “I would assume he would probably say no. If that’s the case, then so be it. I can get some practice in today and tomorrow.”
For his part, Mangini said he wasn’t sure. “We have these two days,” Mangini said. “I’m going so see what it looks like over the two days and then evaluate it. I can’t say definitively no or definitively yes.”
But assuming Favre does, in fact, skip Thursday’s preseason game, we’ll next see him in action in Week 1 at Miami. Favre said his work with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has paid off, but when asked if he would be comfortable in Week 1, Favre said, “Completely? I’d be lying if I said yes.”
