    I have been PACKER fan for 15 years, I have watched about 75% of the games the packers and favre played for the past 15 seasons.. My take is simple, if you are a true packer fan, you honor and respect what each packer legend has done regardless of what they do after their life in GB, or how they do it. This has nothing to do with rodgers for me, I am more than happy they chose him, because it is obviously the right choice! Bottom line, before Favre in a 16 year stretch I believe the packers has one winning season, complete opposite when favre got there. Obviously we had mike holmgren , reggie white, WRs Freeman, shroeder (sp?), ect. But it is to my understanding WHite would have never game to GB if he did not have a QB to win games.. I just feel real packer fans appreciate what packer legends do for them regardless if they join a division rival or not. Curly Lambeau joined the Chicago Cardinals, and Washington Redskins after his time in GB, Vince Lombardi joined the redskins after his time in GB, but packer fans still praise them. Maybe you don't like Favre for how he handled his retirement crap, he only OFFICIALLY retired one time in his career! So after all of that, I say the real traitors are Packer fans, rip me all you want until you are blue in the face, I do not care I am just a simple man with a simple opinion.

    I love the Lombardi comparison

    Tell us when Brett retired for a YEAR did he go to the Pack and ask to be brought back? Ya see Vince stayed with Gb as the GM AFTEr he stepped down from coaching, then the next year decided he wanted to coach agian The Pack didnt take him back he went to Washington

    Some team NOT in our division

    A team that Vince did not say I will play for them to get my revenge

    Try again newbie

    What the hell is wrong with this sudden urge of Favre ballwashers?

    Cmon, guys. We all know you're all from the official Favre site. You honestly think your opinions will persuade any Packers fans?

    You can't possibly think that.

    Vince didnt lie to get the public to believe his side

    Brett did

    My comments are in black, everything else are quotes from him

    I always liked Ted and I don't want to say I dislike him now," he said. "I'm disappointed."

    Ted and I, I thought, have always had a good relationship. We don't talk a whole lot. We don't go out and eat and shoot the bull. But on three different occasions -- I don't want to say "lied," I think that's kind of a harsh word, but I think "untruth" or whatever is better. When first he took over as the GM, I was wishy-washy on my decision, if that's what you went to call it.

    Then this from the Greta interview

    Exclusive: Brett Favre 'On the Record' - Greta Van Susteren | On The Record With Greta - FOXNews.com

    I said, You're right. You're absolutely right. And I said, But Mike -- and it was a good conversation, and we've always had good communication, the two of us. And I said, You're right. I totally agree. I was not 100 percent committed. And I said, But you guys wanted an answer in March, and I gave you the honest answer. And I said, you know, Had I been able to wait until training camp, that would have been great. He said, Well, why didn't you tell me that? We would have let you do it.

    And I thought to myself, Well, you know, you told me before the draft, free agency. And he ended up drafting two kids in the draft. So that kind of tells you..
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Thompson flew to Favre's Mississippi home, and the quarterback thought the general manager was there to ask him to come back. Instead, Thompson told him that the team was going to do something special for him: dismantle his locker and send it to him.
    "That was the craziest thing I ever heard of," Favre said. "What the hell am I going to do with a locker anyway? So, I said, 'OK, Ted, that's great.'"
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    FAVRE: I mean, I've always been a Packer. I always will be a Packer. Do I play somewhere else? That remains to be seen. But I don't want to go back there just to stick it to them.

    Brett Favre on retirement, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, more - Peter King - SI.com

    ~~~~~
    I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted,'' he said in a rather startling admission.
    I dont care how they supposedly treated him up until this point...
    He should not call out Ted for telling "untruths" then not tell them his true feelings such as telling Ted great about the locker..WTF??
    If you hate Ted doing that then dont do it your self..that is called hypocrisy
    Brett Favre on retirement, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, more - Peter King - SI.com
    aas he told Ed Werder in his weekend ESPN interview,all he heard from the Packers after the 2007 season was "crickets,'' meaning he thinks they wanted him to walk away -- he was a convincing retiree.
    Brett heard crickets? cuz he did say MM was calling him every week..
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,382744,00.html
    Mike McCarthy called every week. Mike would call, Hey, how's things going, you know? Where are you at with your decision?
    Favre still unsure if he'll play this year - JSOnline
    Favre acknowledged that the money being offered by Packers president Mark Murphy was not in exchange for him not to report to training camp.
    He said that has been incorrectly portrayed in some media reports
    .
    Favre says of situation: 'This probably isn't going to work' - NFL - ESPN
    "Then," Favre said, "they tried to buy me off to stay retired."
    Again is this a lie or untruth to sway public opinion? Wtf? One week to AL Jones it WASNT a bribe then the VERY next week he changes it to a bribe?
    Those things are black and white to me..No fine line, no different ways to interrupt his words..
    You Favre-freaks don't get it. Favre plays for the Vikings. We hate the Vikings. We hate Favre. We respect everything he did for us, and we love it. I own a Favre jersey, and he's one of my favorite players to play the game. HOWEVER, HE PLAYS FOR OUR RIVALS SO I WANT HIM TO FAIL. End of story, please leave us alone.
    As long as Brett plays for our rival, he is our enemy. Id love to see the now 3rd year dream of Brett signing a symbolic 1 day contract with The Packers and retiring to the team that made him a legend. But Ill believe that when i see it.
    Until then.. F_CK F_VRE.
    Can I start closing Favre threads? They're all the same. Person A comes here and mocks us for hating Favre, then we rip Person A apart for the duration of the thread. It's old.
    Or, alternatively, can we just have a Favre sub-section?
    As much as I love Reggie, I think the largest contract offer might of had something more to do with him coming to GB.
    If favre had any class it wouldnt be an issue. But the constant lying and backstabbing by favre makes any real packer fan hate who he has become. I loved my ex when we were together but now I think she is a piece of ****, same with brett.:viksux:
    Hey I am more than ok being called a favre appologist, but please prove to me how favre lied...please send me articles that prove Favre was just bsing everyone to get packer fans on his side, send me the articles please..dont worry I'll wait...and honestly, packer fans should boo favre, he is wearing purple! but that does not mean you cant respect him, I mean you give him his own resturant, you give him his OWN FREAKING STREET THAT THE PACKERS HOME STADIUM IS ON, anyone, and I mean ANYONE would feel a little sense of entitlement. I think some of you take football too seriously, you forget its just a business and they don't care about you unless you are giving the NFL money...remember that..oh and I have never been on the Favre official website.. but it is nice to know that packer fans can't just talk about this maturely , they have to call names and take jabs at people..stay classy...
    I am just wondering..you all are spectators, how can you possibly know what went on behind the scenes..how can you possibly say favre was the wrong one, none of you will ever know how it truely went down and it would be so so ignorant to act like you do... again my point is, favre is a packer legend...real packer fans ALWAYS respect packer legends no matter what happens after their life in GB, I guess most of you are not real packer fans
    REAL Packer fans hate the Vikings with all of their heart. Favre is a Viking. And as such, I wish nothing but the worst for him.
    EDIT: Ugh. Why am I engaging him? That's my bad, guys.
    Farve is a traitor. He wanted to be with the Vikings and manipulated his way to get there. Then he lies that it was the Packers who drove him out. So let him retire as a Viking for all I care. Let him go into the hall of fame as a Viking. He doesn't belong there with the real Packer greats. Time to head back to your Farve cult now and be a good Farveite.
    Murgen I get your immature point, but again you show me little proof but a couple of exaggerated quotes from favre and a few passive statements from TT and MM, none prove how favre lied, only he said she said, so again I ask you people, send me the articles that prove Favre lied to us.. I will be glad to reevaluate my take on Favre. I say again none of you will ever know what really happened, but you believe everything if it came from ESPN and wisconsin. Call me whatever you like, it is just my opinion, this is trash talk section, that is what I am doing, but I am surprised most of you packer fans call names instead of talking like the adult you claim to be..
    Only 75%? Why so few? Are you not a "true Packer fan", like most of us? :dirol:
    My take is simple, too. I don't think anyone has any right to force others what to honor and respect. Last time I checked, personal opinion is just that... personal. I am just wondering-- you don't happen to work for organized religion, do you?
    Please show us proof of this. Send me articles please... don't worry, I will wait.
    Ouch, that hurts. Name calling is always the first sign of immaturity, don't you think?
    Actually, you've been called a "Favre ball-washer" and a "Favre-freak", but no one has yet called you an "appologist" (sic).
    Thank you for your permission, though it is not really needed. Fans across the world and across all sports generally understand that it is ok to boo the opposing team and cheer for their home team.
    And why is that? Or is it that you feel that you are above normal mortals and have a right to tell others what they can or cannot respect?
    Really? Who gave him a restaurant? Was it in his contract when he was our QB, or was it just a nice gesture by an adoring fan?
    I will certainly remember it, except that I haven't a clue of what your point is.
    Did you not use the word "traitor" in your first post? Is not telling others that they are "not real Packer fans" a jab? So, how then exactly are you more mature than others?
    There you go again. Both proselytizing your gospel as well as calling us names.
    Isn't Incubes the guy who called you a "Favre-freak"? wtf?
    Likewise, I have the same comment regarding your posts.
    Happy trails, you Favre-appologist. :yahoo:
    Immature? No, I call it tough love.
    What's the point, your obviously here to troll so It would be pointless. Go read the articles and posts by insiders. There must be hundreds on here, make your own conclusions. I'm not here to prove anything to you and honestly, don't feel it's worth my time to deprogram you..
    While I have deep respect for Favre's years as a Packer the simple fact is, as others here have stated over and over and over, he is no longer a Packer. He is playing for another team, our most loathed division rival at that! To me it's like la familia. You don't betray the family to a rival family. You just don't do it. So when I see Favre line up on the opposite side of the ball, I don't see a former Packer legend. I see a new enemy and enemies must be destroyed.
    Favre is a miserable traitor, who plays for my beloved Pack's greatest rival. I no longer care that he once played for the Pack, because from the moment he first donned a ChokeKings jersey he turned his back on me and every other loyal Packers fan. I personally don't want the Packers to bestow any honors on him after he finally decides to retire. I especially don't want them to retire his number, in my opinion this is the greatest honor that can be afforded a former player, and he isn't worthy!
