I'm not sure which post your responding to? :wondering:

KC is not a threat to the 9ers the way the Jets aren't to the Pack.
That's why people were cool with Joe Cool going to KC and why Packers fans were OK with Brett going to the Jets.
I think your right that Da Bears are a bigger rival to the Pack.
I think that by Brett going to a rival team in the same division may have sparked a bigger rivalry that wasn't there in the first place. (If any long time Packer fans want to comment and correct me on this, feel free to do so.)
Now I don't know for sure, and this is speculation on my part but I suspect there may be Min. fans rubbing it in to their Packer friends like "Hey! We got Brett! So take that Packers!" There was a guy named Hauschild on here last season who was somewhat doing that to us. Almost like what your doing. (Though I'm still not sure of what your intentions for being here are, MNVIKES.)
So I think this new passionate rivalry could be sparked by both sides.

And I do admit that I am bringing in some of my personal feelings into this. (As I mentioned earlier. Unreliability is one of my biggest pet peeves. I started hating on Brett when he un-retired and went to the Jets.)
Other fans may be doing the same.

Football, as I'm sure you've noticed, is an intense competitive sport.
One where fans go really nuts more than they do for other sports. (To the point of dressing up where the stands sometimes look more like Halloween than a game.)
And when we have one to two good teams to compete for in the playoffs, (For us: Bears, Vikes/For you: Packers Bears) well, I guess that's where the finger pointing and anger and passion comes in.
If or when the Lions start being a threat then you will see this used more often: :detsux:

I'm all about being civil and having open minded discussions and finding common ground. If your cool with that then so am I. :drinks:

    Exactly.

That's another reason to love Starr. Besides his accomplishments, he showed team loyalty.
Even to the point of being head coach for the same team. (How many other QBs or players did the same thing? Playing for and then coaching the same team? I don't honestly know, but I bet it's a low number.)

Do you get it now, MNVIKES?
That some of us hate the Vikes so much that we don't care who is on the team. Even if it was someone who was a star player for our own.
It's just too damn hard to like Favre anymore since he is now playing for a rival team.

Perhaps you need to experience it yourself to understand.
How would you feel if Jarrd Allen or Adrian Peterson or your favorite Vikes player made the move to Green Bay?

Who's to say he's not actually a Favre fan that went haywire when Favre left, and now is cheering for the queens? That little "4eva" on a nickname usually indicates for whom they actually root for... Some people find it cute. I find it very, very disturbing.

Disturbing? Sounds like a personal problem to me man. I have always been a Viking fan, and have always respected Favre, and yes, even while he was a Packer, so when he became a Viking it made it that much better knowing that the player I wished my team had finally became a dream come true. I know he can choke in playoff games, but any QB can! Peyton Manning has done so in the playoffs more than a couple times! I find it as being different, and to be honest, I could cared less what others think about it....

The use of the "4eva" by Favre fans?

Well, there's something about a man having another's scrotum attached to his lips that just doesn't seem right. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

But you just explained that that's not the case, so...

I understand what you saying and am cool with it as you put it, but Favre also showed loyalty to the team and organization for YEARS! I think that is why he flipped his lid when the management asked him openly to compete with Rodgers, that was ballsy, and even if he would have gotten beat out by Aaron and the fans would have freaked, you should never have your HOF QB to compete (i.e. win the comp or be a backup). What if Favre would have been barely beat out, that guy doesn't deserve to be a back-up, are you kidding me? That is the biggest slap in the face man it's not even funny! Other coaches usually name their #1, but also say there will be competition, but for Favre to think that all the time he put in was being questioned with that request is not that hard for me to understand, but like you said, you MAY VERY WELL see it differently if you were a fan of another team, especially a division rival like the Vikings. You stated I may think differently about things if the Vikes won a SB right.....but as of right now I can completely see Favre's train of thought, he is just too good to be chancing a back-up role, that and all the time and loyalty he gave to the franchise and team throughout the years, and those GOOD years according to you Packer fans should never be forgotten....BF won't ever forget them....remember that...

The Pink is for "Packer Hater" label. It's not the mods that apply it. It's the admin. Used for those who come strickly to trash talk the Packers, and go overboard on their rants.

Ha, if I have gone overboard, so has everyone else that's replied to me! No doubt! I guess the admin should reconsider his/her decisions pertaining to someone who has the guts to come here and take the heat, that should be respected, not hated. I guess the admin will just have to answer my request, or continue to discriminate me for my difference in likings, but that surely doesn't set a good example now does it? I am passionate about my team and feelings towards Favre, and the same goes for all you Packer fans, so why is my username "pink" again? I don't get it....calling me a femme for disagreeing? Or is it that difference = negative treatment (i.e. pink username)? Nice.

I'm a Vikings fan, but I will be fair and try to just state facts. That being said, there is one thing that annoys me. It's when Favre is blamed for losing the Saints game. Favre played great all year and would have won MVP if we didn't drop a couple late games last year that we kinda mailed-it-in on. But back to the Saints; Favre played great, 310 yards. Much better than Brees. We'd of had 50 points if it weren't for all those fumbles, and please, the officiating was atrocious. That's not whining, that's just the truth. Favre did throw 1 pick, but it didn't end the game like that 'drop-kick'...the game went to overtime. 5 bad calls in OT handed the game to the Saints. They didn't run a SINGLE good play in OT - go back and watch it. And Favre's other pick obviously should have been a low hit - everyone saw it except the ref. That's not whining, that's the real truth that no one wants to talk about. Because the 'story' has to be Favre's gun-slinging coming back, yada, yada...and of course how wonderful it was for N.O. because of Katrina.

I used to make the same argument at one point too.

He threw across his body, its a pretty basic no no. I know he won a big playoff game against Detroit doing the same thing but that was almost 15 years ago.

Your complaining about calls in the playoffs last year to a bunch of packer fans? Guess you didnt see how the packers season ended...

Montana played the 49ers and beat them I believe in KC. Young went on to win the SB that year and play better than any other QB in SB history. Worked out well for both of them I guess.

The Bears are my dad's rivalry, not mine. The Vikings are my bigger and most hated rivalry. Who knows, maybe the Lions will be my kids' rivalry. =)
