    Wait.

A queenie fan telling me who should be my team's greatest QB of all time?

Why wouldn't I listen to your sound logic? What's that? Blaming Packers fans for living in the past, and only using past as an argument?

There's no way Favre was going to get beat by Rodgers. The fans would've rioted. It just would not have happened.

And we're mad at Favre for going to Minnesota just to stick it to Ted. And indirectly, he sticks it to the fans that loved him, that gave to his charity, that supported him through his dad's death and wife's cancer. We didn't really care when he was with the Jets. It was weird, sure, but it wasn't hurting anything. But the Vikings is personal. It's like I read in a Packer preview magazine, in the fan's eyes both guys were wrong. But once Favre went to Minnesota, HE was wrong and Thompson was absolved.

    No Chilly at the airport.

I'm shocked. I didn't think Favre went anywhere in Minnesota without his lapdog.

I am using past GB players as a retort, but not solely as MY argument, more like a slap-taste of reality, or for that matter what should be common sense for ANY football fan. IF I were to argue the history of my team, well then I would be demonstrating hypocrisy, but that hasn't happened.

Well, if it wouldn't have happened, then it should never had been asked. Hell, even the Vikes and Childress have openly stated QB's are fighting for competition, but also have added who is the starting QB as of NOW, the Packers made that point, but instead said they will be fighting for #1, it's a totally different request that GB was asking of both Favre and Rodgers. If they were smart about it, they would do what most teams do with a GREAT QB, state he is the starter until proven otherwise...that wasn't the case bud.

How do you know Favre went to the Vikes to stick it to Ted? It's all theory man? That's all I ever hear! What about the Vikings have the BEST team in the NFL without a legit QB when BF was asking to go there? That's reality, they had everything but a good QB, so what's that hard to believe? OF course, it's ONLY Brett's fault no matter what the case or reality, I forgot!

And batter Rodgers' psyche in the process? Even if Favre came back that year, Rodgers was still our QB of the future. He needed to be able to trust the organization. He needed to know that even if Favre came back, the organization had his back and gave him a chance. Even if they were completely empty words.

Psyche? Ok, so Favre probably knew that, and thus is why he wanted to go to the best team in football that needed a QB (Minnesota Vikings). Sure, so why wouldn't GB trade him to MN? Obvious, it would have made competition harder, so in theory the organization was looking out for the team right? Selfish? Sure, so what's so different about Favre wanting a trade? Even if it was to the Vikings? Brett is obviously going to want to play somewhere where he has his best chance at winning a SB, and although I hate to break it to you, MN was the place for that. All the pieces were fit, except for a QB. The team was selfish for not honoring Brett's request for a MN trade, and Brett was selfish for demanding a trade when asking to compete for starting QB, there even!

One thing you have to understand, or at least admit. To players, going to ANY team isn't the same as we fans see things. Yes, MN and GB are HUGE rivals, but not like Chicago is to GB right? Even if your opinion was that they are, players should be concerned about their future, performance, surrounding talent, money, etc right? Yes, that's true! Ok then, so why blame Favre for going to the best team that could get him all those things? Any athlete would do that for themselves, it's all about winning, and if MN gave him the best opportunity for that, then what's the issue? It sounds like Brett is just wanting to win by going to MN, and it's the fans that are demonstrating selfishness for blaming him right? Why blame someone for going somewhere to win? Somewhere to have fun? I think Brett just did what was best for him as a player, and of course person! If the Vikes sucked all around, I would support the Ted Thompson theory, but the Vikes are just too damn talented for that theory to seem realistic at this point.

Not this Farve, Thompson, Rogers crap again. Ugh x 1000

Farve = Douche in my book and most Packer fans. No sense arguing this crap anymore.

Farve is the Viking's problem now.

    Nuff Said.

oh, btw, Bart Starr in my book is the Greatest Packer QB of all time. 5 Championships vs 1 for Farvt.

Hey buddy, a championship doesn't compare to a super bowl, hate to break that news to ya. How many teams were competing back in those days (50's and 60's), yeah. A SB is much more impressive than some championships back in the 50's and 60's, so please don't compare those achievements. Favre a douche bag again? IT seems as if it's the fans being douches more than a man that wants to win, and going to the Vikes gave him that best chance. Don't believe me, why is that every analyst in football agreed when it happened? How many times did you hear that the Queens had the best team in terms of overall talent but no QB? Come on, don't blame Brett for wanting to play the game and win, the Vikes gave him the best opportunity hands down. So in the long run, it's BF haters that are douches for wanting him to lose I guess right? Nice....ignorance and hypocrisy is bliss.

It's going to sound weird, but we just thought Brett was different. I don't know how to word it exactly, but he always felt like ours. That's going to sound weird, it is weird, but that's the way it was. We were all under the impression that he was different from every other athlete. That he was just this good old country boy who didn't do all that media, ego-driven stuff. This isn't exaggeration, Favre could've ran for Governor in this state and gotten 90% of the votes. He could've started his own religion and had most of the state renouncing God. For all intents and purposes, he was our God. Football God, at least.

And I think that's what breeds the anger. That it turned out he wasn't different, he didn't care, and he was just like the rest of the selfish athletes in the world.

As far as why not just trade him directly to Minnesota, would you have given us Fran Tarkenton if he wanted to go here? Because it's the same. He was the franchise and you can't be the GM to give the franchise directly to the rival and then get beat by him. Simply put, we were scared. Scared of what he could do to us and we'd dug ourselves into the hole of having to go with Rodgers or risk losing Aaron and looking like liars. I'll openly admit Thompson could've handled the whole situation better. The end result was fine in my mind, because like I said you don't give your icon directly to the rival, but Thompson could've definitely handled the whole thing better. They both could've. It could've been much more civil. It wasn't, both sides made regrettable mistakes, and now here we are.

Just to get this straight. When we use it, we're being repetitive. When you use it, it's a retort.
And the blackened sentence is just the nail in the coffin.

Smack talking is fine. Double standard is trolling...

Anyway, have fun with another superbowless year.

Ok, 2 Super Bowls for Starr, One for Farvt. Starr 2x SB MVP. Farvt (0 SB MVP for Farvt).

I guess we should just forget about all the history of the NFL before the SB according to you? It didn't happen. I can see why a Minny fan would think that way. Nothing to celebrate anyway.

Hypocrisis is saying that a championship doesn't compare to a SB because it was older, because you were not alive back then, or because your team wasn't alive.

Now, I'll ask for you to keep the smack talk in the Smack Area. enough with trolling in the NFL NEWS section.

Ok that makes sense, but since the Vikes never asked Fran to compete for #1 when he was here, that I know of anyway, that is why that never happened I guess. So why is it Favres fault again? That's what I don't understand. I completely understand the whole "Favre was different", but isn't that the fans fault for having those thoughts of the guy? I would think so, Favre was just being Favre, nothing more/nothing less if you ask me. I compare this with the whole Favre and media thing, everyone loves to blame Favre for every little news clip, article, or whatever, but isn't it medias fault for putting all the BS out there (since it's their job), and ultimately the consumers fault for reading/watching/listening to it? I think so, yet Favre get's blamed for it all. It's like Brett shouldn't have the right to debate retirement because we as fans don't think he should, or we are tired of reading/watching/listening about it, but who's fault is that primarily? Ours isn't it? We are the ones who don't turn the channel, ignore the article, etc. Favre is a human being making life-changing decisions, and if it were me or you, it should be nobody's business but ours right? It's somehow different with Favre though? I don't get it. Sure, he is an athlete making allot of money, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's a human being with the right to change his mind, make different decisions, etc. It's not like BF is asking media outlets everywhere to make-up crap, interview him, blog every little thing, this and that...yet most people like me and you seem to blame it on him....

The fans are probably part of the problem, I'd agree with that. But we're not going to get mad at ourselves. That's not what people do, they take it out on someone instead. And we're going to take it out on the guy that's breaking our hearts.

I'd consider the hate to be therapeutic, to be honest. That's all it is. We're not going to blame ourselves for creating this mess, though we were at least part of the problem by making him a magical deity here, so we're just going to take it out on the deity and renounce him until we come to terms with it 5 years from now and we retire his jersey in front of 70,000 cheering fans in Lambeau.

And least I hope that's how this story ends.

Forget about it? No, but comparing the two achievements is surely questionable man, that's the point. But of course you close it out with the "MN has nothing" remark trying to put me out, nice try. If I rooted for franchises I would become a Dallas fan, but the reality of it is that franchises do nothing for the team in the present, so in that regards any franchise should mean nothing for fans. We don't root for franchises do we? Why would we? They don't help our teams win today, so just because the Vikes don't have anything, doesn't mean I should be any less of a fan. Actually, their history of failing only proves that fans have heart more than anything else. Call MN Vikes fans half-azz, but in reality I see Packers fans doing the same thing, and so on with every other team in football, so to generalize a fan-base is nothing short of ridiculous. Starr won 2 SB's, but when you think about it, the TEAM wins a SB, not one player, so thus is why I brought up OVERALL competition with teams. I don't see Starr holding any records like Favre, and for Brett to create those records with more competition around him is more impressive! Starr was very good, but to say he was better is a stretch my friend, records tell allot, especially when those records were earned with twice the competition throughout ones career. Did Starr have his best statistical career at 40? Didn't think so...

Now I feel bad for yelling at you in the other thread. :(

A reasonable Viking fan. I think you're the first one of those I've come across in my time here.

*looks at the other people in this thread that have been here awhile* Is Raptorman a Viking fan?

If he is, you might be the second. Either way, top 5. Well done.

(Wow. I used a lot of smileys in that post. Lol)

    http://www.packerforum.com/f9/pf-policy-t-and-c-posting-15913.html

    There you go sport.
We have a policy of keeping it according to sections.

This is, after all, a Packers forum. And we (moderators) decide what's trolling or not. And when your first post is this: http://www.packerforum.com/f11/not-rumor-brett-21968-2.html#post286865 ,well, you clearly came to talk smack. I let you do it because I did it too. But banging on the same chord and using double standards? That's trolling in my book.

And go somewhere else and ignore it, that's also trolling.
