In Germany there is a saying that "money doesnt score goals" (Geld schiesst keine Tore), so this statistics seem to prove that this is wrong, money scores goals and wins titles. Its as easy as that.

Sir Alex retires, a new manager for ManU, Mourinho and Ronaldo maybe both return to their old clubs, looks like there is an exciting transfer window ahead of the EPL...:)

It is a true statement, Fernando Torres is the perfect example, big money does not always score goals. However if you throw enough of anything at a wall it will eventually stick. ;)

The fantasy football journalists will be having a field day.:)

To be honest i don't know much about Walker, but on FM13 he was first choice for me at right back for that Tottenham save i had. Sounds he like a very good prospect.

''If Klopp happened to be Scottish rather than German, he would be sitting in Fergie’s office at Old Trafford now.'' - Anon
Interesting quote, but if Klopp had to deal with the Everton board of directors he may not have been in the Champions League Final.

I think this is the "catch 22" in the German system. Successful teams will generate more income and thus be able to afford more success. Whereas with an owner based system, the owner with the most $ (aka NY in America) will be able to buy talent even if they don't always win. This is why the Packers are kind of an exception to the rule and quite unique in the U.S.

Fan ownership is not perfect, but its better than the devil you don't know. Its one of the main reasons i support the Pack, unique in the NFL and very similar in that respect to alot of football teams in Europe. (Off topic for a second) A couple of days ago the 49ers named their new stadium not in the name of a great man such as Bill Walsh, but instead as The Levi's Stadium in a $200m plus deal. Commercialism at its worst that would never happen in Green Bay.

Had to share this, lesson for the day don't count your chickens before they are hatched. PSV lost the Dutch cup final 1-2 to AZ. What a shame what to do with the 2012/13 Cup winners stage where they planned the celebrations?

Agree, fan ownership can be a problem if fans try to influence the daily business, only a few clubs are left with a similar structure and organisation like in Hamburg.
Many German Bundesliga clubs have outsourced the professional football department as a individual company where the club controls at least 51 % of the shares.
But this allows them to sell the rest of the shares to partners, like Bayern did with adidas or Audi.
The majority of fans in Hamburg are against this and sometimes I think thats why we are only a "Mediocre" team although Hamburg is one of the richest cities in Germany and even Europe and there is so much potential.
So selling the name of the Stadium is one of the few possibilites to get some extra money as long we dont accept partners and what we are doing is similar to what the 49ers did with the exception that we didnt get 200m USD
Since 2000 our stadium was named: AOL Arena, HSH Nordbank Arena and nowadays Imtech Arena.
But dont get me wrong, I will always fight circumstances like in England or US sports, but Im fine with selling shares to partners like Bayern did as long as the majority of the shares belongs to the club.
Until then we have to find other ways to earn some extra money...

Naming rights are an easy way to make a fast buck, i find it crass there has got to be a better way. Aberdeen in Scotland are kind of similar, the club Alex Ferguson first made his mark with and beat Real Madrid to win a European trophy. Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe you would think that companies or individuals would want to plough money into them to bring success but they don't. Instead they languish in mediocrity and massive underinvestment. Having a mega rich owner is like making a deal with the devil, yes it can bring silverware in the short term but it does feel like dancing to the pied piper alot of the time.

Wow, they are paying 30 m GBP in wages for a 32 yo player whose best years are behind him

PackerFan71 - like your signature, nice one by Sir Alex

If thats what they were offering for a player well passed his sell by date CFC would be making a big mistake in keeping him. Sooner hes gone the better.

It was from a documentary about Gothenburg 83'' when little Aberdeen, beat the mighty Real Madrid and Bayern btw on the way to the final. :speechless:

Just goes to show big money and reputations are not everything all the time, nice to see the little team win the big one.
Man City's squad for the F.A. Cup Final - £306,200,000.
Wigan's squad for the F. A. Cup Final - £15,500,000

What fickle idiots if they do this, they are in the same mould as Abramovich. Only last year they won the league, ok you lose a final happens to the best of us but thats a poor call if its true.

Yepp, looks like Mancini will be sacked this week. Another example what happens when investors just want to see a return on investments and act as if football is just a business like any other.
But it isnt, many unexpected things can happen as we all know.
If they seek for a safe investment they should look out for traditional industries
Im pretty sure Pelligrini will just be the next manager who fails.....

She propably had the best day of her life so far.... :)

Yeah the ugly face of the game, i say game but it isn't just a business to those people.
Its a knee jerk reaction that all too common, the Glazers over on the others side of the Manchester are using their club as a cash cow. But at least they know continuity breeds success.

I know nice gesture. :)

Suprised Scholes hasn't gone to Oldham Athletic for one season, its his boyhood club and when he isnt playing for Utd (if they're playing on a sunday and Oldham play on saturday for example), he stands with the Oldham fans and acts like a normal fan, which i respect massively.

Also, a little mention for Frank Lampard, 203 goals, overtaking Bobby Tamblings goal record.
Lampard's record is quite remarkable for Chelsea 606 appearances, 203 goals, 124 assists. He's the complete midfield player, and why it never worked with playing him and Gerrard together in centre midfield for England, i'll never understand. Although he's not got legendary status at Stamford Bridge, i dont quite think he'll be appreciated until he's retired, only then will we realise just how good 'Fat Frank' really is/was.

Mancini sacked too, with the way football is nowadays thats no suprise at all, madness. They weren't at the races on saturday in the cup final, they could have still been playing now and they wouldn't have scored. But that doesnt mean Mancini has been a failure, and although he's spent a bucket load over his four years, i do feel he's been let down a little by the Man City hierarchy. Last summer City had won the Premier League title for the first time in 44yrs, and in my opinion sat back and expected it to happen again. They didn't fight for Van Persie, or De Rossi, and allowed Nigel de Jong to leave the club, replacing him with a very inexperienced Jack Rodwell, Javi Garcia and Scott Sinclair.

They got complacent, and its come back to bite them on the backside. I expect Pellegrini will take over at the Etihad, and i expect him to shake the place up, Tevez will be gone, and expect Isco to join City, which would be an unbelievable signing, he'll rip teams apart in the Premier League.
