OK, buggybill2003- now lets count the stars on a German shirt ;)

Nice shirt, Packerfan71. :)
I wonder when they did start to add player names on the shirt. In the 90's?

Yeah its a very recent thing, but i remember Scotland used to put the players names on the shirts as far back as the early 80s but stopped it. In the UK it started in about 93 when the Premier League began then everyone and their dog copied it. I'm not always happy with the stars thing, they should only allow it for World Cup or Champions League wins. For any other reason for me devalues it.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Hilarious guys, just keep going your discussion :)

Buggybill, indeed you won it once, thanks to a Russian Linesman.
Even Oxford University published a study that proves it wasnt a goal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tofiq_Bahramov
So without Russian help England would have the same number of stars on the shirt like Scotland ;)

But you know what: Our rivalry with England is my favourite one, forget about the Netherlands.
Always hope that we meet England on a World Cup or Euro Cup tournament because very often great matches and a sure
win for us, especially when it comes down to a penalty shootout. :)

I wouldnt say the same about Italy ;)

Been a while since you won at Wimbledon though. :D
hahahaha.......that, my man is definitely clutching at straws. I`m not being confrontational here or rude to you personally, but I actually hate the guy. I always have. Not because he`s a Scot because I like the Scots and spent a lot of time there on holiday with my late wife because of relatives, just that he is such a miserable git !! no offence intended ;)

Definitely a win for you ;). Our national team couldn`t win a raffle...lol
What makes me laugh so much is EVERY competition, our press really talk big and then destroy the team when they lose, which is all too often. The Scots, Welsh and Irish must love it :roflmao:

None taken he won it for himself like him or loath him but i'm glad hes Scottish. I cant stand the bandwagon jumpers really annoying. Hes like his coach a miserable outer persona but he's actually quite a funny guy.

Well he certainly won it fair and square and good luck to him. I agree with the jumpers though. I can`t believe they were actually talking about a knighthood, although I disagree with that whole thing anyway. I think Sports personality of the year has got his name firmly on it.

What we like most bill is the constant optimism England have or more specifically the media at every tournament, only to be brought swiftly crashing against the rocks of reality. ;)

Totally agree with you mate...lol My present wife is fiercely nationalistic and it just makes me laugh, which makes her madder. I gave up following football years ago. I`d like to see England do Something but I`m not that optimistic anymore.

We are happy to be without ours nessie and stay firmly in reality, its been an albatross for England for decades.:sneaky: I think that now Italy are my love to dislike team now that England have taken on a almost joke like status. Italy are like Leeds United from the 70s professional and cynical it used to be ABE but now its more like Anyone But Italy.

I AM loathe to mention 1966 again gentlemen but Nessie, the score WAS 4-2, so EVEN IF that goal was not a goal....(which it was...lol), we still scored three to your two :D. Not that I`m bragging about it. Sadly, I`m old enough to remember the game, and the party after ;).

...the fourth goal doesnt count buggybill - the team morale was broken after having conceded a goal like this ;)
Anyway - I wasnt even born and isnt it funny that after 47 years we still discuss the Wembley goal :D

As you know, PackerFan71, I like Great Britain, British football and especially Scotland and the Scottish National team but isnt it just fun to have some rivalries as we both do when meeting England for a football game. :)
And I guess even English football fans enjoy matches against us beside the fact that they are always losing :sneaky:
I hope for another match next year in Brazil.

Anyone But Italy sums it up perfectly, especially because we cant beat them anymore :mad:

Exactly, Hursts late goal he has since admitted was hit and hope. The game was over by then anyway. His thinking was ''if it goes in great, if not at least i've wasted a lot of time by blasting the ball into the crowd.''

Anyway revenge was had many years later, one of the only times i have been happy with a Lampard disallowed goal. ;)

Rivalries are good but the Scotland v England game is pretty meaningless other than for the usual silly bragging rights. Its only really mattered once at Euro 96 if ever there was a game that mattered it was that one, McAllister scores the penalty Gascoigne taken off, no killer second goal.:rolleyes: :D

On a more serious note.
