    The Peyton situation.

I have been on the Colts official forums lately and this thing is a mess. Listen, to me this thing has been coming ever since I heard BEFORE week 1 of the season that Polian was sitting at a Stanford game scouting.

    The Peyton interview today. God.

Eli being asked more questions about Peyton then the Giants. Brady being asked questions about Peyton too for Gods sakes.

Let the two SB QBs have their moments for crying out loud.

Colts fans who already have a Luck jersey. Listen, I love the kid but let's wait lol.

And "Team Peyton" who are rapidly in denial that he could be released and that if he returns can win two more Super Bowls!

Team Luck is not the easiest to deal with either and I have been told I am on "Team Luck" since I think it might be time to go into full rebuild mode.

The "real Colts fans" who claim if you are a "real Colts fan" you support Manning and want him forever.

And now Peyton says today he wants this thing to be settled as early as possible. To me that spells a release for him if he wants it done even earlier then March.

Now I hear Peyton is dead set on returning to the NFL.

    Make it stop.

I know Irsay has been sorta hoping Manning retires but I am not sensing now that he will.

I also know Irsay has said he is drafting a QB with the first pick probably regardless of the health of Peyton.

I also know that I don't feel the Rob Lowe retirement tweet was an accident, heck don't be shocked if Irsay told him to do it.

I also know that this team is in rebuilding mode whether many fans like it or not.

And please, for those few Colts fans who are on the Griffin wagon....stop. It is a waste of time.

I also can tell this bugs Peyton. Brady vs. Eli. I also know this is the oddest SB experience of my life.

Poor Jules. It sounds like you guys may have a similar situation as to what we had with Favre brewing in Indy. Peyton must have a huge fan base on his own, many of them fans of the Colts by his association. Now if he leaves, and it's looking more and more like he will, what becomes of those fans? Do they get mad with the Colts for wronging Peyton and simply follow Peyton to his new team. Good luck with this one. I know how this is going to go and it's not good. Picture yourself mentally cringing when every other sentence contains the word Peyton and this 2 or 3 years after he left. I can hope this doesn't happen with Indy, with you guys haunted by Peyton's shadow but I've got to say, it looks like your perfect storm has already begun. As for God making it stop, trust me, He is not merciful when it comes to situations like this. Consider leaving those Colts to their misery and becoming a full time Packers fan. ;) We have more than enough cheese for all!

You have as much a chance as making me turn on the Colts as you do Bogart turning on the Saints. It's impossible. ;)

BTW I am kinda smitten with Luck since this past year. I admit it. I truly have a good feeling on this young lad. He has all the brains, physical tools and leadership. I wonder how all this makes him feel? Some thing he is a bust already. He has not even joined the NFL yet. Hey I can't not support a guy who Jim Harbaugh himself once called "perfect."

Yes I do wonder what happens to the Peyton die hards in this whole situation and if he is on a new team.

And yes the perfect storm to me seems to have begun. Hey, I see the future. I had a Luck in a Colts jersey avatar months ago. I feel it is meant to be.

Now as for Peyton it's not like I don't appreciate and love everything he has done. I just hate that this is being drawn up so largely in the media now and during SB week of all times........but thats what the media does. And neither Peyton or Irsay have been exactly quiet.

Even tho it is like Brett and the Packers, it really isnt..

Peyton was paid 20 mill last year for his past accomplishments, and now is owed 28 million for FUTURE accomplishments, and no one knows if he will be heathly when it is due..

This is more of a clear and cut case of strictly business than the Brett situation..

If he isnt healthy why would a team pay him 28 million for sitting on the bench??? It just isnt feasible...I think everyone knows this, some just dont want to accept it..

Sadly, it is just getting started. With some of the "Colts" fans who are questioning if the team will survive without Peyton (yep, an actual thread on the Colts forum), I wonder if they through he would ever retire, or if he would be the Gordie Howe of the NFL and play into his 60s, even if he became a mockery of himself and the game. I'm about as avid a Manning supporter as there is, but I was a Colts fan first, and will continue to be one after he is long retired.

Last year, they had the weather and the sales of phantom seats to talk about, this year they don't have those issues. So the biggest story they have is to speculate, and in some ares concoct story lines. Irsay has said he wants Manning there, Peyton has said he wants to play his entire career in one city. We are waiting to hear if he is cleared to return to the game.

Right now, the Colts are something they haven't been in a while. Interesting news. Not to say they weren't newsworthy, but all this change and uncertainty after more than a decade of success is more tantalizing to the media. Add to that, I think Irsay has gotten under the skin of the media, especially ESPN, with his open use of Twitter to not only give news, but also to go on the offensive against people like Adam Schefter

I am tired of hearing about it, but you unfortunately can't escape the issue. I hope it doesn't get to be too much of a distraction for Eli or Brady, as I'd really like to see a good game if for nothing else than to put this to rest for a while.

On the flip side, at least we aren't talking about Tebow, right?

Does this mean the Colts will have trouble manning the QB position this year? :whistling:

I wouldn't doubt it at all, Manning probably has a huge fan following. I know for sure in New Orleans there is a lot of fans of him, sorta like it was with Favre. Even to this day, you'll find people down here that still love Brett and won't say a bad thing about him, and the closer you travel in Mississippi close to his hometown there is sports bars that all have shrines to him. When he played for the Packers, one sports bar was split between the Saints and Packers as far as decorations go.

I just can't see Peyton pulling a Favre though....The Titans have Locker, the Jags are a joke as far as quarterback goes, and the Texans have Schaub. I just can't see him going to a rival team just to spit in their faces. If he goes anywhere it's probably going to be to a crappy team. Some say Washington but if that's the case, I'll say San Francisco :roflmao:

Don't forget the Jets and Dolphins. Both have had reported interest if Manning is healthy. Both teams also play the Colts next year.

And if you want even more proof it came today:
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...colts-will-play-with-new-quarterback-in-2012/

Honestly, it has also been brought up that Luck's camp has been VERY quiet lately. Peyton and Luck share the same agent btw.

And because I feel like posting this pic here it is.

I have been smitten with Luck for some time but I also feel bad for Manning lately. He looked disheveled and old to me personally when watching his interview the other day.

Between Brady and Eli in the SB and Peyton's future much in doubt with the team he has played his career with......

Oh and do not forget. Peyton ADVISED Luck to go back to college last year!!!! OMG.

Great. Just ****ing great. The Peyton camp can't stand it. They make more news today. Stop sucking up all the SB coverage. It's not our time.

And with Peyton this team likely can't even beat out Houston for the division.

I still want to ****ing rebuild this thing.

Peyton will not play for the Jets, NO WAY IN HELL is he going to put with Rex Ryan. Also the Jets aren't a real built team. They are a "Super star team" like the Miami Heat and Philadelphia Eagles, they throw all that money at big names and think it makes them great. Peyton will likely go to Miami before New York, I just can't imagine that.

Between Peyton's comments about not liking the changes, between the ESPN interview that came directly after media day for the SB teams and between today this is tacky. This is Favre stuff IMO. The Colts might have a had a horrible season. The Colts might hate it that the Pats of all teams are here. Heck for all we know Peyton's ego might have taken a dive with his baby brother and arch rival in the big one and all the Luck talk. All I know is I don't like the attitude. Lay low the few weeks before the SB and be a gracious host. This is all unsettling to me.

Bahahahahah that reply is funny, cause from what I remember, the Texans defense looks pretty damn good, and they beat Manning back in 2010, now they are 10 times better than that, so I don't know if he could beat them twice to win the division.

Yes it's like Favre all over again with the media.....but you know who it was before both of them? Hate to bring his name into this conversation cause he's so well respected, but it was sorta like this with Joe Montana. His last playoff game with the Chiefs, the first thing the announcers said after the game was "Joe Montana's career, question mark..." it wasn't a congratulation to the Dolphins for beating them, it was all about Joe.

Okay changed the wording to not confuse people here lol. He said "You also said you are a Packers fan once." I think some caught on when I said I was watching the pro bowl due to Rodgers and Freeney in it and said there was no debate on MVP this year and that it was Aaron. *sigh* I was outed. Now they must think I love Aaron more then Peyton? OMG what will I do. ;)

I just started to post there again this past week or so due to the drama. The Colts forums are horrible right now. I dont even know who all these new posters are.

    I am already very unpopular.......

I think if I told them that Rodgers had a worse D this year then Peyton ever had in his career I might get death threats.

I have already been told I am not a real fan of the Colts. I am ignorant. Why don't I get why the GOAT won't lead us to more titles?

Once upon a time there was a Colts forum with normal fans. Once upon a time.

My favorite was a week ago when someone said "If we knew this Peyton thing would develop we could have groomed Tebow behind him."

    And another:

"It's a team sport. A TEAM SPORT. But, Peyton is our team. This is Peyton's team."

Unless you plan on giving Peyton a ball washing....it's not your place. There are 3 of us I think who are in the same boat.

    Omg they are nuts.

Wasn't the defense what made them lose the Super Bowl? Because they couldn't stop Brees and his average WR's lol

I'm not a mean fella, but I could dig up some stuff to show them constantly contradicting each other if they want to take it that far, cause the GOAT lost a Super Bowl and they blamed it on the defense, starting to sound like the Pro active Favre defenders. I don't blame Favre for every single thing he did wrong, but there is some people that never blame him.

I joined there a week ago.

    I don't know why I did.......

I was never going to post on those forums again but hey with all the drama I had to partake.

I still feel Manning and his camp are putting Irsay in a corner this week and I don't think I like it.

Did you know the Pats and Giants play Sunday night?
