Colts are getting the first pick in the draft bitches. Nobody is stopping this train now. It's destiny.

    Try to hide your jealousy.

Well, except for the fact if Manning makes it back, you shouldn't need to draft Luck.

Can't have both? I know, Luck won't want to likely sit on the bench for more then a year IMO being the first pick in the entire draft.

Regardless, you take Luck for yourself or have an auction for the pick. The draft can be fun next year.

I say if Manning comes back, trade that number one for a bunch of picks, then grab a lower rated QB with one of them

Besides, Luck may not come out if he thinks he will have to sit on the bench watching Manning play. Doesn't he have one more year eligibility?

He does, but I think he's also got enough common sense to realize his stock isn't going to rise, and the Colts would be a good situation for him for the most part. It isn't like there is a glaring need for an overhaul in Indy.

Replace Blinky with a competent head coach, replace the Larry "If it's broke, don't fix it" Coyer with a trained chimp as the D coordinator, and see the Wizzard of Oz to see if the team can get some heart and pride, and they have a chance at 10 to 12 wins again.

I agree, Blinky (Caldwell) needs to go. But, have you heard Polian ball washing him this season? I kid you not. Polian is ball washing a horrible head coach who can't win a game. Any game. Playoffs?

And yes Coyer is a horrible HORRIBLE DC. He might be the one to go, the scapegoat. Bills and Chris love their master puppet in Caldwell. Irsay needs to put down the shrooms and make some noise this offseason.

But, lets be honest. The talent here ain't so hot either. The core is aging. Clark can't stay healthy, Wayne is a zombie/aging, Freeney won't get any younger, Jeff Saturday may end up leaving and the secondary is atrocious. BTW Polian also praises the Colts LBs. Yep.......I kid you not.

As for Luck maybe I should change my avatar? What if he does not want to come here? There is no guarantee he won't force an Elway on Indy. First of all he won't likely want to sit on the bench. And secondly even if the team dumps Peyton or Peyton retires it's tough to follow immediately in a legend's footsteps. The Colts fanbase is OBSESSED with Peyton over the years. They still are. This is a fanbase (most of them) that won't even admit Peyton has played a part once in a while in a postseason loss or any loss for that matter. Many Colts fans have already said the team owes it to Peyton to stick with him no matter what. It has gotten to the point I have heard some Colts fans say "**** Luck". And on the flip side we have had some Colts fans show up to home and away games in Luck jersey's!!!

I have also heard Luck is against "Suck for Luck". I guess he was told about it and hated it. He may do what he can to go to a better team in the end or a team with a better front office/coaching staff.

Really, as the weeks go by I am wondering if Luck and his dad will turn down the Colts or demand a trade. I may be paranoid though.

Stay tuned since right now it does look like the Colts will get the first pick.

What a **** storm in Indy.....if it were up to me I would rebuild the whole thing.

That's all true. I do fault Peyton (and I went to school with him) to an extent for the downfall of the team. He's such a perfectionist that he didn't allow much time for the backups (Sorgi, Painter) to develop with the team. He completely controls the offensive side of the ball, and that entire group was built around him. What is happening there is a perfect storm, and as much as it pains me (my first Colts game was in 1984), they are getting what they deserve. I hope that Polian isn't really so narcissistic and blind that he honestly can't see how terrible Blinky is as a coach.

The talent in Indy certainly isn't what it was, but it still isn't too bad. They need to change their D scheme, playing a soft Tampa 2 (giving teams a 10 to 15 yard cushion) isn't working. At this point, Dallas should take the rest of the year off, how much worse could it get? Reggie might come back more energized, Painter and Garcon seem to have more of a connection, even if it results in a bunch of dropped passes. I hate to see Saturday possibly on the outs, but the writing has been on the wall there. The only LB I can see Polian rightfully praising is Angerer, though I have heard him giving accolades to the entire group.

As for Luck, I'd imagine he hates the "Suck for Luck", I know I would if I were in that position. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I wouldn't be surprised if Manning never returns to the same level, and the team needs to make a move. I know the optimal thing isn't to be the "guy after the guy", but I think it is still a pretty good situation. Especially if they bring in a new coaching staff.

That being said, things didn't work out too well the last time the Colts drafted and Stanford QB...

trade the pick to the highest bidder, for a bunch of pics.
I'm sorry, but the Colts have a lot more problems than just QB.

You are right in many ways. To me it's more coaching then talent. Look at the 49ers. Look at what a real head coach can do to a team without major moves. This coaching staff is crap.

    However, we have holes too.

I love Manning and all he has done. I also want Luck. This is killing me!!!!!!

You said you went to school with Peyton. Do you have any inside dirt on his health?Luck or no Luck it's time to draft a new QB. I can't always fault Painter either. The kids confidence had to be shot as soon as he was thrown in the fire against the Jets that awful week 16 of 2009.

As for Angerer the kid is a player but he needs work against the pass. Brackett was good there. Gary was also a team leader. I think this D has been missing a stud MLB. I am not always convinced it is Angerer either, he is a bit small but this team loves small. *sigh* We never had our Brian Urlacher so to speak. Notice how Tim Jennings has been decent on the Bears at times? Of course he has. Our coaching staff sucks.

The thing is even if Peyton is 100% I still don't think this team is a contender again with this coaching staff.

Irsay needs to wake up. He has hinted a lot at times about the 1997 season though it makes me wonder....

I'm also very torn. I tried out for the team at Tennessee, but some hotshot wearing 16 made it pretty apparent that this guy wasn't very likely to make the team. I had a blast, though, and got to watch Peyton from a pretty young age. I've been a fan of him ever since, and don't want to see that time come to an end. However, this year has opened my eyes to some issues, and we have to accept the mortality of Manning.

We had a couple of classes together and that limited time on the field, but we haven's stayed in touch past there, so unfortunately I have no inside scoop, other than to think about how hard this must be on him, having seen his drive and passion up close. Selfishly, I'd love to see Luck come in and things resume more or less uninterrupted, but there are no guarantees that would even happen.

I do wish the Colts had a better combo of size and speed on the d side of the ball. A big, punishing LB or defender in general would be great. I sit here in Baltimore and watch Ray Lewis, Suggs, Jarret Johnson wreak havoc on teams. I think Angerer has a lot of upside, but as you said, he needs to work on his pass d. And he'll never be that guy that makes opponents game plan to handle him. There are times I wish the Colts would take a guy with some character flaws, I feel like they need some attitude, and wonder of they haven't passed on what was truly the "best player available" a time or two because that player did something stupid in college.

As much as I want Caldwell, Coyer, Ray Rychlesk, Jon Torine and Alan Williams gone, I don't want to see them replaced with more yes men and puppets. The whole team needs a shakeup, some attitude and a new identity. I feel like they got complacent and started going about things as the nice guys of the NFL. Sorry, this is a game of hit or be hit. I'm all for sportsmanship and character, but look at this year. Peyton is out and the team has no heart, no pride, no drive, no identity, no leadership.

This has been far worse than the "lean years" for the Colts for me. They were a perennial playoff team that just seems to have quit when adversity hit. And the rest of their division stinks. I am having a hard time showing pride in and supporting a team that has no pride themselves. Last year, the excuse was all the injuries, this year was over before it started, and I don't see a whole lot of a glimmer of hope.

If the Colts are sucking for Luck on purpose, they are taking one hell of a gamble. I have a funny feeling Luck is going to stay on at Stanford another year. You'll have the #1 pick ( a gem in itself), and possibly a disgruntled Manning if he thinks the team had in mind to replace him with Luck.

Kitten that would be a gamble for him to go back IMO. He could get hurt. And honestly I don't feel the Stanford team around him is all that either at times unless they have more talent coming in next year I don't know about. I am no college football expert...he may go back but I have to see it to believe it too.

SyX I feel the same way about the pride of this team. They showed it against the Steelers on SNF but that was about it. That was pretty much almost the season right there for this team. And I am so sick and tired of the injury excuse for last years team. Last time I checked guys like Manning/Freeney/Mathis/Saturday and Wayne were out there. I expect this team to lose every week now and I have picked them to lose every week.

Caldwell called two bonehead timeouts last year (Jets/Jags) and still he gets the benefit of the doubt. The guy is horrible. He can't make halftime adjustments either. The most underrated aspect of Tony Dungy was solid halftime adjustments.

I will be sick to my stomach if they keep Caldwell and I fear they keep him unless Irsay over rules Polian. It is rumored though that Irsay is pretty much "married" to the Polian's. You must have read that awful article from the IndyStar about Chris Polian? If not I will find it. It was a few weeks ago and the reason Bill came out and talked about "rats."
