The Packers' tenure at Lambeau, now at 52 seasons, is the longest in NFL history at a single stadium, breaking the Chicago Bears' previous record of 50 seasons at Wrigley Field (1921–1970).

Now, if we can only surpass their number of players in the HOF.

HOF members is nice, but the Trophy case is what its all about. Everything else pales, and I will take our 4 Lombardi trophies against their 1 to any stat they want to pull out and try and rub our noses in.

I must admit, it would be nice to hold this one:

All time record - Bears lead: 92–84–6. But we are catching up.

We will surpass their HOF players no doubt. There's Favre to enter, and there's the guys from 2010. It may take a while, but without any relevant players on the bears from 85 to now, we'll surpass them in that too.

Favre and maybe a very far outside chance of Butler or Sharper. Then about 10 years or so for Woodson to be seriously considered. He's not a first ballot entrant. After that maybe another 5-10 year wait. The outlook then is blurry with maybe A-rod, CM3, and a player or two who hasn't really distinguished himself long enough yet. Unless a few contributors or coaches come out of the offices, it will be quite a while to catch the :chisux:. Wolf, Holmgren, TT, MM, Art Daley, Jim Irwin may someday be considered. :chisux: have Urlacher and Hester if he shines as a KR for a few more years. I see those two having as good a chance as Butler. It would help their case if they had a title.

Favre's dominance really closed the gap. It was about 20 games twenty years ago.

Woodson is a first ballot. No questions.
Before the SB, I'd agree with you.

But not with a SB ring, DPOY, top 10 all time in ints and TDs.

Most importantly, Woodson is synonimous with versatility and all around ability, and that counts a lot for voters. Carter isn't in there because some considered him a possession receiver only.

Yeah, why would you think he wasn't in in the first ballot?

Because being a 1st ballot HOFer is extremely hard.

Willie Roaf didnt get in on first ballot and he was an 11x pro bowler 6x all pro 90s all decade player and 2000s all decade player. all those surpass woodsons numbers.

Kevin Greene isnt in, and really hasnt made a strong push.

Curtis Martin wasnt a 1st ballot HOFer.

    Jerome Bettis wasnt either.

Darrell Green went in as a 1st ballot HOFer but he played in the league for 20 seasons.

For those of you who believe Woodson is a lock 1st ballot HOFer, do you think Darren Sharper is as well?

    Rod Woodson
    11× Pro Bowl selection (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)
    6× First-team All-Pro selection (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2002)
    2× Second-team All-Pro selection (1991, 2000)
    7× First-team All-Conference selection (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2002)
    2× Second-team All-Conference selection (1991, 1996)
    Super Bowl champion (XXXV)
1993 NFL Defensive Player of the Year
    Tackles 1,163
    Sacks 13.5
    INTs 71

Rod Woodson was a first ballot,

Charles is not that far behind him - stat wise.

    Super Bowl champion (XLV)
    7× Pro Bowl selection (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2008, 2009, 2010)
    3× First-Team All-Pro selection (1999, 2001, 2009)
    3× Second-Team All-Pro selection (2000, 2008, 2010)
NFC Defensive Player of the Year (2009)
AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2009)
AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (1998)

    Tackles 607
    Sacks 13.5
    Interceptions 47

But I don't think he will be going in on a first ballot as it stands right now. If he pulls off a signature play, pick 6 in the next Superbowl, or something like that, his chances would go up.

    No.

Darren Sharper was never close to a complete player. A ball hawk of the first quality, but was never a sure tackler.

Woodson's numbers for a CB are ridiculous. Amish Mafia made a great point comparing him to Rod, but Rod was a safety during a lot of his time, which inflated his tackling numbers.

I do think that Woodson will play 5 or so more years in the league, and will get even more numbers.

That, and winning the SB XLVI and XLVII will also boost his chances.

BTW, we're not discussing IF he makes it, rather than when, which is kind of irrelevant anyways.

I forgot to address Sharper. But you said almost exactly as I would have. I will go farther and say that Sharper was not consistent in coverage and a poor tackler.

I'm guessing that you got those stats from NFL.com or wikipedia (which got the stats from NFL.com).
Since tackles weren't an official stat until 2001, NFL.com doesn't have tackle stats for his first three seasons. According to ESPN, Charles has 809 career tackles.

    Rod Woodson:
    20 Forced fumbles
    13 Defensive TDs

    Charles Woodson:
    27 Forced fumbles
    11 Defensive TDs

I think those added stats help Charles compare a little bit more favorably to Rod, but I agree that he's not a 1st ballot HOFer, at least not yet.

Well one sure bet, none of the 20 whatever starting Bears QB's in the last 20 something years is going to get in, and I'm including Cutler at this time.

To repeat what I said in another post; since 1990 Packers are 27-16 vs. Duuh Bears who have not dominated since the 80's. :chisux:

And if I'm not mistaken, most of the Bears fans say our early championships don't count; so apparently those early rivalry games don't count either -- which means we must be ahead of them by now.:chisux:

Not me. I think they all should and all do count, and I think we will get ahead of them before very long. Also, if I have to choose between overall record and SB wins I think everyone knows on which side I am going to come down.

And then the same is true of the Bears early championships.

I was mentioning the Packers record vs. the Bears since 1990; also in that time the Packers have swept the series 9 times. The Bears have only done so 4 times.

Their only reply to you would be they still lead the all time series, and they would be right. Besides, I've been around for a lot longer than since 1990.

But we keep slowly catching up.

All those contests are almost meaningless.

Truth of the matter is, the most important game ever player between the Packers and the Bears was played on 01/23/2011, at 2pm CST, at Soldier Field, good for the 2010 National Football Conference Championship, and was won by the Green Bay Packers 21-14.

Too bad the NFC Champions had to accept the Halas trophy in the locker room instead of having an on-field celebration.
I guess the losing team :)chisux:) didn't want to be good sports and play like big boys should.
