In my opinion this position is now more dire than our O-Line position. I think our first round pick should be a corner.

One guy I would love for us to pick up is Javier Arenas from Alabama.

This year he's got 65 tackles, 5 sacks, and 3 Interceptions. He's also a solid return specialist.

Thoughts?

I don't think it should be a corner we still have Al Harris and yet is overated but still is good. The other guys will learn might take them another year but have faith they will come around.

He's pretty old for a corner back or for any position really. Isn't his contract almost up or something?

I think Al will probably come back for one more season, his contract expires after the 2010 season, so why not get paid for one more year and then retire? Besides with both OT's becoming free agents you need a replace fast. I wouldn't really consider javier arenas as a first round pick a lot of people project him to go in the second round and that's where we can snag him. I doubt he'll be a good corner in the NFL though, he's really really small at 5' 9.

Arenas would most likely be our main returner and play in some nickel and dime situations.

This year's cornerback class is very deep so I think we can get a good one in the later rounds. Corners that are under the radar but play like they're ready for the NFL include Ras-I-Dowling, Perrish Cox, and Walter Thurmond III. I doubt Dowling will be available by the time we pick in the second round but Cox and Thurmond are very stout corners who I see making it in the big league.

I hope we get Perish Cox since he's a taller defender. Isn't Thurmond around 5 9 or so? Cox seems like a good speedy returner too.

I really want the Packers to go after a corner from Auburn. His name is Walter McFadden. He can play the style of corner that the Packers are used to. After they draft an offensive linemen, I really want to see them go after a CB. Javier Arenas is talented too as is Perrish Cox, but I would really like to see them get McFadden.

Thurmond is 6'0 and Cox is about the same. Green Bay has a trend on picking taller defensive backs. This is why I wouldn't like Sydquan Thompson, Javier Arenas, or (please don't kill me) Joe Haden! These guys are pretty small but I do agree have talent. However theyll get thrashed by the big receivers in our divison: Aromashadou, Sidney Rice, Berrian, CALVIN JOHNSON.

IDK why I thought Thurmond was small. I do agree we should get taller DB's and the only reason we should get a smaller one is for returning.

After the loss tonight, I think CB needs to be addressed in the first two rounds. Cox is a possibility, especially since he might help out our return game also.

I believe that CB is such a dire need that we may have to address this with a first rounder or trade up into the early second round to address it. Even though Al said he would play again next year who is to say that he won't get injured again along with Pat Lee. And I doubt that Bush, Bell, or even Blackmon are the answers for the future.

Well, Al H.,even though he is a tough guy and Pat L. are in fact to injury-prone to lean on. I think it was our wide-open middle-of-the-field on passing AND rushing downs that cost us. So, Jarret Bush shoul be nothing but special teamer. But recently I tend to say to Brandon Underwood really got talent to play the nickel with another training camp under his belt. Possibly I am just overexcited by our this year rookies, I am optimistic for Jarius Wynn as DE as well, but I might think of a SS in round 2.

Unfortunately the talent after Berry and Mays disappears when it comes to safety. That is why I think it is important to get a tweener, a CB/S in an early round.

We need a CB and I think we can trade to get a early 2nd round pick and get Cox. Bulaga should fall to us in the late 1st. We need a new OT if not 2. So we can take Bulaga and then trade up to get Cox. Then later rounds pick up Walter Mcfadden like Cardsmc25 said (I checked the kid out he has tons of potential). Then Pick up A good safety, Toby Gerhart, Freddie Barnes and another OT. Its not a perfect plan but it should help us alot.

If Bulaga is not available at 23, not sure there is another LT that is worthy of the pick. I wouldn't mind seeing us trade down and pick up an extra 3rd rounder if that is the case. Would love to see us make a move in FA and get either LT Donald Penn from the Bucs or LT Alex Barron from the Rams. In the 2nd round we could get OG Mike Johnson from Bama and SS Burnett from Georgia Tech. Burnett excels in coverage and can lay the wood. With the two 3rd rounders, our options would be CB Owusu-Ansah who also could help in the return game, OLB O'Brien Schofield who can terrorize a QB, and ILB Pat Angerer from Iowa who would be an upgrade in pass coverage over Hawk. I also like CB Walter McFadden who should be available in the 4th round. If trading down isn't an option and Bulaga is gone, I like OG Mike Iupati from Idaho. Kid is athletic enough to make a move to LT and plays with a mean streak. Alot depends on what happens in FA.

All aboard the Walter McFadden train... CHOOO CHOOO. I like your picks Packer Matt. I think OB would be a perfect fit at OLB in a 3-4. He is like a smaller Demarcus Ware.

Matt I think you're right on the money, these look like the best decisions. The funny thing is, I think it would help our team improve if we actually did trade down instead of picking where we are. I watched highlights for Mike Johnson, Burnett, Ansah, Schofield, and angerer all prove to be solid choices.

What about Best Player Available if there isn't a OT worthy enough of that pick? I wouldn't hate it if C.J. Spiller fell to the Packers.

I know we are stacked at WR but I wouldnt be mad if Dez Bryant fell to us. Kid is a beast and would only get better with Rodgers throwing to him. Thats all just wishing to me. I still say focus on secondary and OT and the rest will follow.
