Just saw Christian Ponder (new Vikings qb) say that his job is easy. AP, Percy Harvin, and Sidney Rice have to do the dirty work.

i litterally busted out laughing when they made this pick, they could have gotten ponder in the 2nd round most likely and drafted possibly nick fairley to replace big fat pat.

I'm embarrassed for him as an FSU Seminole. Ugh, can't believe he went to the Viqueens... and he has a mouth. Such a humble kid in college...

he may just be excited because he is drafted by a team that will start him immediately and has some weapons. little does he know that the packers and bears (unfortunately) are no pushovers and detroit is making themselves a .500 team.

Funny........people that hated Rodgers for being cocky, love Ponder for same thing..

Some people love Ponder cuz he runs down the field like Brett with his finger in the air...

Hahaha! He "hasn't been around so much talent before"... True.. but he also hasn't had to play against defenses with so much talent.

Well, if he doesn't know the Pack won't be pushovers on defense, I demand a recall on his 4.0 GPA

Not true. We don't play them until week 7. With his injury track record, he won't make it to week 7.

Someone tell me why I can clearly see CM3 and Co smashing Ponder to the ground several times in the first Packer-Viqueen game?

I can understand him if he spoke in ignorance or haste, or simply excitement from being drafted. However, it matters not when he is facing the opposing defenses of the division. I can imagine him sitting in a dark room rolling through film of said defenses. Now imagine him beginning tormented by thoughts of CM3, Peppers, and Suh running through his head. Soon the nightmares begin... He will soon learn a very hard lesson. Take him to school, defense! When you sack him, say, "that was easy"!

I just know that Matthews is salivating to get Sylvester Stallone to the ground.

I might be the only person not bashing this pick. They needed a QB and took one, and most likely had him as one of the top QBs. I remember alot of media and some fans sayings we reached for clay Matthews and could have gotten him in the 2nd and that better LBers were available. It's one thing to take someone who reminds you of Ryan leaf it's another thing to take a kid that worked his *** off. That being said I hope he has no success in mn

You're not the only one, Ivo. Christian Ponder was actually my favorite QB in the draft. They could have gotten him later though, but maybe they tried to trade down and couldn't. They needed a QB so they got one. People might say it's a reach now, but if he turns into a Pro-Bowler, who cares if you could've moved back and still got him.

Well he'll change his mind after not only facing Matthews, Peppers, Suh but also Bowers, Clayborn, Dumervil, Miller, Abraham, Houston, and Hali. Good luck.

They did try to trade down and had no takers. And I don't think he would have been around come their pick in the second. Both the Bills and the Niners took QBs before MN pick in the second. Is he a reach? Maybe. If he plays well and they win he was a smart pick. If he sucks, it was a reach. Fact is we won't know for at least a year or two at most. Maybe halfway through his first year at best. But ask yourself this, what if he is good? What if he turns out to be the next Brady or Manning or Rodgers? What do you say then? They got lucky? The draft is a crap-shoot, plain and simple. I project that at least two of the QB's taken in the first round will do worse than the two taken in the second round, which two? Who the hell knows. No one can predict the future. BTW, I think they wanted Locker first, Ponder second.

But ponder this. If he turns out well, if Stafford does well in Detroit, and Cutler picks it up in Chicago along with Rodgers. This will be the division to beat in the NFC.

I wonder if grading the draft a week after it is really smart thing to do. I love this website. Here's a few things to consider....

    22. Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
Did Zygi Wilf forget about the boat incident? Percy Harvin is a raw receiver with huge durability and character concerns. How do you test positive for weed at the Combine? Brad Clueless definitely lived up to his nickname with this selection. (Pick Grade: F)

    Green Bay Packers, C-.--
The Packers got the drafts biggest faller in QB Aaron Rodgers. He was a great pick at that point, and brings tremendous value. The rest of the draft didn't go so well. They reached big time on DB Nick Collins in the second. I like WR Terrence Murphy, but had much bigger needs at that point in the second. On Day Two, they have a couple intriguing picks like CB Michael Hawkins and WR Craig Bragg, but in between they just added some bodies. They should have used some of their later round picks to move up earlier and grab bigger impact players at bigger need positions.
Keep an eye on: Craig Bragg, WR, UCLA.

Harvin made rookie of the year and has stayed out of trouble....Rodgers is one of the best in the game and Collins has at least made one pro bowl.

valid point. grading a pick right after the draft is dumb but the way he sounded in the interview was a bit cocky for a rookie qb who is entering a division with every team having a good defense
