"With the Chiefs using zero of their 12 draft picks on quarterbacks, many presumed that Brodie Croyle would continue as the starter, at least for 2008.

    Enter Tyler Thigpen.

Thigpen, a seventh-round pick of the Vikings in 2007 whom coach Brad Childress thought he could slip through waivers and sign to the practice squad before the Chiefs pounced, could challenge Croyle. Not next year, but right now.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Chiefs believe that Thigpen could topple Croyle for the starting job in 2008.

Thigpen last played on a regular basis at Coastal Carolina, which we didn’t realize even had a football program."

I hope he gets the job and takes them to a Super Bowl loss against the Pack.

He hardly dropped the ball "again". Thigpen was claimed off from waivers last year. I wish we could have kept him instead of Bollinger, but such is the business of football.

Geez. This is really old news, and one that doesn't have any bearing on this season (or even last season for that matter). Every team loses project people on waivers now and then.

Thigpen, for the record, was a promising young QB< but he had a LONG way to go before being able to even challenge TJack. If he learned enough after one season on the Chief's practice squad to become the starter, that either means that he is an idiot souvant or the Chiefs team just sucks that bad. My guess is the later.

Hey, another one of the Vikings cast offs, JT O'Sullivan, is competing for the starting spot in San Fran. Again, doesn't mean that he would be doing the same on the Vikings (in fact he tried to beat out TJack, but couldn't).

Now, any news from players who actually were Vikings sometime in the last year?

Probably not.........the Vikings didn't do anything, so theres really no new "news" to report!

I have to agree, sorry Paul. Childress royally screwed up by placing Thigpen on waivers, and losing him. He may never amount to anything in the NFL, but he has to have more of an upside than Bollinger. If nothing else he has potential that is more than Bollinger has.

I would have rather had Thigpen over Bollinger, don't get me wrong. My point was that this is old news - something that happened a year ago, and it is being brought up like it was recent news.

He dropped the ball back in 2007 when we lost Thigpen, yes. He didn't drop it "again" just because Thigpen is finding success with his current team.

It's not as if the choice was Thigpen or Bollinger. Bollinger was the #2. Thigpen would have been #3 - at best.

No freaking way that Thigpen would have come close to playing last season.

That's what Packer fans do. Live in the past.

How long before one of the intelligentsia who populate this site starts babbling about championsips won in the 1960s?

And, if Childress "dropped the ball" on Thigpen - didn't he also "run the ball into the end zone" by drafting Purple Jesus?

That's funny. IF the Vikings ever win a superbowl, you can bet some of your fellow vikings fans will talk about it years after they won it. It's hard for me to explain to you since....well....you know.

    Yes.....I do.

And there's not much to counter it, which is why, when confronted with superior intellects and insightful commentary, the Packer Fan has to drop the "Duh, we've won Super Bowls!" line on his tormentors, just as Van Helsing would wield the cross in the face of the vampires.

I am amazed the Vikings won eight games last year with the QB's they had. This year TJack has another year of experience under his belt. I believe he will perform much better. I hope he proves me right. Plus, although Frerotte would not be my first choice as backup I certainly like him better than Bollinger.

More importantly, you are once again correct Z. Thigpen was not prepared to be the backup last season.
