The Green Bay Packers Friday released cornerback Mike Hawkins. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement

sucks...i really wanted to see this guy succeed. He had a really rough past, the sort of guy you really root for...lots of natural talent too, just never able to be put to use

Would have been awsome to see him develop. Kinda pointless though, because he can now file a grivence, and already wasn't taking on a roster spot.

Well I dont think he had season ending injury, He probably asked to be released so he could try and catch on a differnt team.

Hawkins was a guy that supposedly was blessed with lots of talent and great speed. His injury last year affected his speed and now he's just a kid with some talent. He's not exceptional.

He was not on the 53 man roster -- his injury settlement does not free up any roster spots.
