A reliable club source said that the Brewers have a deal in place with Cleveland for left-hander C.C. Sabathia, contingent on the paperwork being done and medical records exchanged.

Look for Sabathia to make his debut for the Brewers Tuesday night at Miller Park against Colorado.

This is good news for the Brew Crew. Not so good news for my Cards, but the Brewers have a much better shot at making the playoffs than they did last year.

the Indians got so bad so fast. That's one more ace out of the AL Central and over to the NL.

Sabathia won't help you top the Cubs.

    A for effort though.

Arguably the best 1-2 punch in the NL with Sabathia and Sheets. The only other I think matches up is Webb and Harren. Love the move and they didn't give up much from what I read. Forte and two other mid tier prospects.

Zambrano and Dempster might disagree with you.

lololol. sheets and CC are arguably the best 1-2 NL punch. Big Z is great but sheets is superior, and dempster is a big fluke. the only pitching tandem to rival milwaukee's is arizona's of Webb/Haren.

    Sabathia is a fluke.

See, I can do it too. Doesn't make it true. Enjoy your false hope, Brew fans.

Sabathia isn't the answer for the Brewers. The Cubs will run away with the division, the Brewers won't be able to re-sign both Sabathia and Sheets, so who are they going to give up? I see more problems than solutions.

Win Win for the Brewers... if both leave.. that is 4 first round comp picks.. if we resign either.. Sheets more likely.. we have a proven ace.

LaPorta is a minus in the field at this point.. so without the DH, it is fruitless to keep him when we are loaded in the minors positionally.. what we lack and seem to always lack is pitching.. at least at the bigs for the remainder of this year we have depth at the starters.. now they can kick inconsistent Bush to the pen for long relief and if needed.. make a rotational start or two if needed..

Cubs can feel the Brewers inching closer.. wait till the end of the month.. series should be fun.

    Yup!
The older guys here will remember "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain".
Guess we will have to come up with a catchy phrase for these two guys.
How about "Sabathia and Sheets and Da Cubs dey beats!"

Slight tweek... CC and Sheets.. Da Cubbies dey Beats.. I like it..

Even if we can make it as the wild card... we will be one tough out with the pitching staff headed by CC, Sheets and Parra.. Now if Suppan can keep his pitches down, the big red head keeps pitching well and Bush chews some innings up in the pen.. yikes we should be able to do some damage this season.

    brewers out to win NOW

They are just renting CC..He is going to get a 120 mil contract next year...

Since Prince turned down the money the Brew offered him, the team can use that money to get Ben to stay...

Mulder's starting Wednesday. Hopefully he does, um, average. Once Carpenter is back, all they will need to find is a closer.

I think the Brewers have a real chance at beating the Cubs out for the division. I was doubtful before because we had that one bald spot in our starting pitching rotation, but C.C. is a dam good lefty. Plus the Brewers have to keep them bats working like they have been lately.

Isringhausen makes me want to jump off my balcony every time he pitches. I can't believe he gets paid $9,000,000 a year. No closer should get paid that much money. Especially Issy.
