1998 Vikings at home and lost to a 14-2 # 2 seed Divisional champion by a field goal...got ball in overtime, can't get it done

2007 Packers at home in their weather lost to a 11-5 # 5 seed wild card team by a field goal...got ball in overtime, can't get it done.

    Let's discuss......

Was that the Vik game where the FG kicker missed after not missing the entire season?? If so, that was a pretty big choke.

The Packers choked? Looked like they just out played by a better team. But a Vikings fan is more experienced with choking than I would be so ...

I think that he was referring to the favored team losing, which is usually called a choke. Not sure.

We lost, we might have choked but in the end its still better when the best thing the Bears can say is they sweeped us. Well you know thats great but you suck and still didnt make the playoffs. How bout them Vikings great make fun of us for losing a playoff game because I mean great teams never lose in the playoffs? Again how far did you make it ya thats what I thought.

Bears didnt make it very far this year. Just like GB, they didnt make the SB. All they did was...beat GB twice.

    Exactly. ALL they did.

I'd DEFINITELY take 2 wins over making it to the Conference Championship ANY day (end sarcasm here).

you guys are straying away from the original question.

The Vikings lost to a very good 14-2 # 2 seed football team in 1998.

The Packers lost to a wild card team (at home with the Lambeau mystique)

All I ever hear from Pack fans are how the Vikings choke. But then that's twice in 4 years the Pack lost when they should have won in a championship game. All I want to hear from a Packer fan is that any team is susceptible to choking. Some just have done it more then others. (Like the Vikings). There is nothing "magical" about the Packers or Lambeau field. N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

I sure hope to god that wasn't Favre's last pass...because that's all non-Packer fans will remember him by. And that's flat out sad for a top 3 QB of all time.

It is not twice in four years the Packers lost in the Championship game.

Vikings fans, guess we have to feel your pain.

But we still have 3 super bowl trophies. :p

    What's in your trophy case?

Considering the Vikings went 15-1 that year and the Falcons were a big time flash in the pan, I don't think this is even close. The Pack shot themselves in the foot for sure, but all things equal a LOT more was expected of that Vikings team. Now if the Chargers beat the Patriots yesterday then we'd have a real discussion.

The Viking game was a big choke and will forever piss me off but the Packers lost to a wildcard team that should have easily been put away at home in sub zero temperatures. The Falcons were a good team like the Gaints but were expected to be in the NFC Championship game unlike New York.

Giants were on a road win streak beat the #1 seed in the playoffs..Won 2 playoff ROAD games coming into GB..They found out what makes their defense work..

All things considered..Was the vikings who choked.

Yes the gaints are a wild card team but still had a better record or same record as the other Two divison winners ( Tampa 9-7 Seattle 10-6) Lets not forget the NFC east was the best divison in the nfc also. So Finishing 2nd to the Cowgirls isn't all that bad. Just like the Jaguars was the 3rd best team in the afc even though they finished behind he colts and lost in playoffs to maybe the best team in football ever.

Lets not forget the 98 vikes broke the Record for points scored in a season. Had 2 Wr with over a 1000 yards and 10tds. Finished with a 15-1 record and made it to divison round of playoffs the year before.

Well the packers didn't make it to the playoffs the past 2 years and basicly came out of nowhere to become 13-3.

Can you name 2 players off the 98 falcons other then Jamal Anderson, and Tim Dwight Without looking it up???????

Sorry but out of the 2 teams you posted i have to go with the 98 vikes as a bigger choker then the 08 packers. Would of been a better thread had you put the 08 cowgirls instead of the packers. 8) 8) 8)

Eye on the ball people...Eye on the ball

The 98 Falcons beat a very good 12-4 San Francisco prior to playing the Vikes. The 98 Falcons were a very good football team that the Vikes took to lightly. Not some on the road wild card team. Anyone who watched the Packers Giants game saw the PAckers played down to the Giants. The Packers just flat out got outplayed when they had all the advantages. The Vikings in 98 were devasted by injuries against Atlanta. Hell we even lost John Randle that game. I'm not saying the Vikings didn't choke because they did...but there was no excuse for the Packers with that (high octane offense) to play so flat...other then the fact that they choked.

They lost to the one of the best road teams in the league, who had just knocked off the 1 seed, in Dallas no less. We got beat by a better team. Any given Sunday...

Everyone knows the "Lambeau Mystique" hasn't exactly been a factor for the last few years, so I don't think that's a reason for being the bigger choke.

The Giants have a better record than two of the division winners and finished with the third best record in the NFC. They beat three... I say three Division winners on the road to earn their way to the Superbowl. You speak of injuries.. we had our issues as well.. we lost alot of the DT rotation and probably one that was playing the best ball in Jolly for much of the season. But that is using an excuse.. we blew it just as much as the Vikes did in 98 with MOSS. ;)

BTW.. I enjoyed the 41-0 destruction of the Vikes at the hands of the Giants more than the loss to the Dirty Birds and Jamal. :p

Normally playoff teams AT HOME win.

Atlanta had Frisco AT HOME...And had split with them during the season, they knew how to play them so it was more an expectation for them to win AT HOME, much like the packers this year and Vikings then.

Giants won 2 ROAD PLAYOFF GAMES in a row..So that right there HAS to say to you, wow they might be pretty good..I dont care who they played, its still a GREAT accomplishment

The way the game played out for the Pack--it wasnt more of a choke job to me..It was flat out either not wanting to play, or just got outplayed..

Dallas losing to the Giants was more of a choke job to me...

And the Giants beat a very good 13-3 Dallas team (aka the #1 seed in the NFC) prior to playing the Packers.

High octane offense? Wasn't that 1998 Vikings team 15-1 and the highest scoring team in the history of the NFL to that point? They were also the #1 seed, which in and of itself makes it a bigger choke than the #2 Packers losing.
