All the running backs on our roster are better than Ryan Grant

oh i totally agree to give our best RB the majority of the touches, but we just need to give all the RBs a try to do something.

Under previous NFL collective bargaining rules, a player placed on the injured reserved list could not return at any point that season.

That is not the case anymore. Wednesday Green Bay announced that running back Cedric Benson has been placed on injured reserve but with the opportunity to play again this season after eight weeks. Benson injured his left foot in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. The type of injured Benson suffered is termed medically as a "Lisfranc injury".

Benson will miss six weeks of practice and then could return to game action in eight weeks. He'll be eligible to return Week 14 against Detroit.

If the first five weeks of the season are any indication, expect to see Alex Green over James Starks as the starter. It's been all Benson-but Green has at least seen some action, with Starks and Brandon Saine watching from the sidelines. The Packers could also sign a running back with the roster spot.
